Knock knock.

Someone knocked on the door of the office and the raging Richmond began to calm down. He brought down his legs from the table and sat properly.

With a darkened expression, Mr. Lesley Gibson shot him a glare before answering the door.

“Hold on for a minute." He spoke loudly and turned to face Richmond with furrowed brows.

“Please, leave now. We don't have anything to talk about. And I'll advise you to leave Adolphus alone because he hasn't done anything to you."

Those words cut through Richmond's heart like he had been stabbed by a loyal friend.

He could not believe his ears. Mr. Lesley Gibson was now standing up for Adolphus.

Since when did they become allies?

“You've gotta be fucking kidding me right now." Richmond barked angrily, quickly standing to his feet.

“You have suddenly switched sides, really? What did Adolphus even do for you?"

“Just leave my office at once. Don't make this hard on yourself. Whatever grudge you have against the poor young man, just let it go.”

"You're already the Students president of the school and you're from a very wealthy home. Don't push it or you may end up shooting yourself in the foot.” Mr. Gibson was speaking in that manner because he didn't want the war between Adolphus and Richmond to continue.

All this tiff was because of a woman and because Richmond wanted to be worshipped like a god.

And Adolphus was not going to bow.

“I'm never letting it go, Mr. Gibson. Be rest assured that this is far from over. It's obvious that you've switched sides even though you're not going to be getting anything from him."

“Unfortunately, you'll be the one on the losing end. You're never going to get a dime from me again until you start behaving.”

With that, Richmond stormed out of the office, leaving the man's mouth open as he stared intently at the door.

Outside, he bumped into Adolphus who had been the one knocking.

Richmond briefly shot him a cold glare and without a word, he walked past him, brushing Adolphus with his shoulders.

Adolphus ignored him but inside his heart, he was jubilating.

He knew what must have transpired between Richmond and Mr. Gibson didn't go well. It was obvious from the expression on Richmond's face.

That's how he reacts when things don't go his way. He'd throw tantrums and transfer aggressions to anyone he bumps into.

If things had gone his way, the evidence would be a smirk on his face and he'd begin to brag before everyone who cares to listen.

Adolphus opened the door and walked into the office. His eyes met with the expectant gaze on Mr. Gibson's and the man's face turned bright.

He smiled genuinely at Adolphus and pointed to the seat Richmond just stood up from.

“Adolphus, it's you. Please have a seat. What can I offer you?” Without waiting for a response from Adolphus, Mr. Gibson lifted his robust body and hurried to his refrigerator. Before he could open it, Adolphus stopped him immediately.

“I'm fine, Sir. Don't worry yourself about getting me a drink."

“Are you sure, Adolphus? If there's anything you need, don't hesitate to let me know.”

"I'm good.” Adolphus muttered, a small smile on his lips.

He was already enjoying the attention and respect he was receiving from the man.

What can't money do?

Now his head of department was offering him drinks and was ready to do anything for him.

“Apartment from Richmond, Is anyone else troubling you?" The man inquired while gradually closing the refrigerator.

He walked back to his seat and lowered himself in it.

“Sir, you really don't have to worry yourself. No one else is troubling me. And even if there was, it's nothing I can't handle on my own."

Mr. Gibson nodded at him with pursed lips and for a moment, he just kept stealing glances at Adolphus.

It was surprising to him that he could no longer look Adolphus straight in the eyes.

“I just came to let you know that I saw what you did. You did a great job and if you continue like this, we'll both be fine."

“We won't be having any problems in the future." Adolphus broke the silence and as he spoke, the man kept nodding his head in agreement.

He wanted to ask Adolphus what changed but didn't have the balls to spell it out.

Adolphus had changed and the confidence he exuded was overwhelming.

His presence looks more intimidating than that of Richmond. In fact, Richmond's presence was never intimidating.

He's just forcing it because his father was wealthy.

Mr. Lesley Gibson used to look down on Adolphus so much in the past. All he cared about was the people who offered him money.

One time, Adolphus went to him, pleading to borrow some money to complete his school fees. Mr. Gibson could not even help.

He lied not to have the money because he did not want to give Adolphus.

Although he never threw insults at Adolphus for being poor, all he felt for him was pity.

Now, everything has suddenly changed and he was singing a different song.

“Of course, anything for you, Adolphus. Just name it and it'll be done.” He muttered, smiling sheepishly, his hands placed on the desk.

Adolphus let out a chuckle and nodded his head before standing up from his chair.

“That's good to know. Although, I want you to do your job well from now on. Don't be partial again."

“Treat all students equally, either they're rich or poor."

“Sure. I'll do as you say and I promise that Richmond will no longer receive special treatment from me again.”

“Great."

Adolphus had just held the door handle and was about to open it but heard his name.

He paused in his steps and turned to Mr. Gibson.

“Sir, Is there something you want to say to me?”

The food will serve them for the rest of the day, and the remainder will be refrigerated and preheated the next day for breakfast.
