"Compensate for the damages? Are you kidding?" Rocky shouted in anger. "You should bear the responsibility for everything, it's all your fault!"

Kalix gave a thin smile and responded indifferently, "Whether I'm at fault or not can be proven by checking the CCTV footage."

"Even if the CCTV proves that you didn't start the fight, what can you do?" Rocky was furious and pointed towards Kalix, gritting his teeth. "You're the one who's made me like this! You're just a village bumpkin with nothing to your name!"

Rocky dared to say that because he knew from Lorenz that Kalix had no support in this town, maybe not even in his small hometown. Kalix was just a poor guy with nothing.

Rocky's insults and taunts didn't affect Kalix, but some people who overheard it felt irritated as if they wanted to shut him up. Fortunately, the manager intervened and calmed the situation a bit.

"No need to compensate for the damages, I've already ordered an online taxi for you and your friend."

"I'm not leaving! We're not leaving if he doesn't come with us! Kalix, remember you have to pay for our medical bills!" Rocky pointed at Kalix, looking down on him, unwilling to negotiate further.

"If you don't do this, I'll tell Lorenz, let Lorenz beat you up again!"

Kalix laughed when he heard that but quickly touched the corner of his torn lip. "Are you kidding? Lorenz wouldn't dare face me again."

"No way! Did you... You beat up Lorenz? Did you beat Lorenz?" Rocky looked surprised, recalling his conversation with his friend about someone fighting Lorenz earlier that day.

Without confirming or denying, Kalix turned to the manager and changed his attitude, saying, "Manager, I'll take responsibility for this matter."

The manager looked at Kalix with a complicated expression, knowing that this young man had no one in this town. Even while working at the fast-food restaurant, the manager had always seen him looking tired. Though the manager was still young, he also had a younger sibling about Kalix's age and thought of his sibling every time he saw Kalix.

He waved his hand. "You don't need to worry about this, I will..."

"It's okay. I caused the trouble, and it's beyond my working hours," Kalix cut off the manager's words and smiled sincerely, then continued, "I have money."

"If you have money, just keep it," the manager said again.

Hearing that, Rocky got even angrier and shouted at the manager, "Quiet! He said he's going to pay with his own money!"

"Don't you know any manners?!" an angry mother said.

After that mother, several others said similar things, heating up the atmosphere a bit.

To defuse the situation, Kalix made a decision and said, "I'll take responsibility for everything, let's go and avoid causing any more trouble."

In the end, it was decided that Rocky and his friend would leave first, followed by Kalix, who was accompanied by two of his roommates, Jimmy and Grey. Kalix didn't mind the arrangement, besides, he had no intention of running away.

Before leaving, Kalix approached the manager and said, "Manager, how much is the damage? I'll transfer the money, I don't have cash on me right now."

The manager waved his arm and replied, "No need to rush, come in tomorrow and we'll discuss it."

Kalix didn't think too much and nodded. He apologized to the manager, his coworkers, and the restaurant visitors who were disturbed. After that, he followed Rocky to the nearest hospital.

When they arrived, Rocky and his friend were waiting to be examined. Kalix went to the payment counter to settle the bills for the two of them. He took out the card that Mason had given him earlier that afternoon.

After the payment was completed, Kalix returned to meet Rocky before leaving. However, he noticed someone was observing him. He turned around and didn't see anyone watching him, but he recognized a familiar face.

Ignoring it, he continued on his way and asked the system, "I didn't see wrong, did I? The man over there is Jaxson Dominic, right?"

The system confirmed it.

"Is he watching me?"

"Yes, he's been watching you since you pulled out that bank card."

Kalix nodded in understanding. The bank card given by Mason should belong to Mrs. Dominic, Mason's current wife. Jaxson is her first child with another man, however, Jaxson has more involvement in his mother's business and knows more than Mason, who is a politician.

It's not impossible that Jaxson noticed Kalix's possession of the bank card and had doubts. But that's none of Kalix's concern. He even hoped Jaxson would come and ask him where this card came from.

"What about what I said earlier? Can it change the name on this card?"

The system immediately replied, "Of course, it can, but I recommend you transfer the money to your bank card."

Kalix wanted to ask why, but he reconsidered and felt he had the answer. If he transferred all his money to his account, Mason would receive a message from the bank. Kalix would be seen as dangerous and cunning. This would raise Mason's vigilance and assessment of him.

It could also be considered a hidden threat, that Kalix, who still had nothing, could do something complex without requiring Mason's approval. However, transferring a large sum of money requires the cardholder's approval first.

"Is this okay? Can you do it?" Kalix asked the system, not because he doubted the system but because he needed to calculate it as well.

"Of course, as long as it's not something directly related to physical, mental, or spiritual matters, I can do it. It's easy for me to penetrate the system in this world."

"Okay, you can do whatever you think is best."

Unconsciously, Kalix arrived at the place where Rocky was. He was still holding the bank card in a daze. Jimmy was the first to notice and whispered to Grey.

After talking to the system, Kalix fully realized and was about to put away the bank card before speaking to Jimmy and the others.

"Oh, you have a platinum card? Whose did you steal?"

That was Grey's voice, not loud or soft, but enough for those around to hear.

Kalix looked at him and offered a thin, cold smile. "That's none of your business."

"Maybe you stole the card," someone chimed in. When the person felt Kalix's gaze, they quickly added, "Well, after all, you're just a villager."

As usual, Kalix remained unprovoked. He just smiled and casually crossed his arms, then asked, "Do you know anything else about me other than I'm from a village? Do you know which village I come from?"

"Lucas! Be careful!" The shout came from Eugene. Watching her son continue to run around in the middle of the grass field in front of their house sometimes made Eugene feel like she was on the verge of a sudden heart attack. How could she not? Her five-year-old son was very active and almost never wanted to sit still for more than a minute. Eugene could only laugh as she watched Lucas proudly show off his catch, a small insect-shaped ball with black and reddish-orange patterns. "Are you happy to get it?" his mother asked, answered by her son's enthusiastic nod. A blade of grass fell from Lucas's head. Five years had passed, and Eugene had proven herself capable of fulfilling her duties as a mother. Lucas was active and intelligent, inheriting his good looks from Kalix, but his personality, no one knew where he got it from. "Lucas," called Kalix, who had just come out of the house. He was carrying a cup of tea to give to his beloved wife. "Can't you go a day without making yo

At first, she hesitated to tell the truth, fearing it might shock the middle-aged woman. However, following Mia's advice, she eventually broke the news cautiously. Then, news came from the doctor who checked Eugene's condition, and yes, the pregnancy news made everyone who heard it feel happy. Eugene felt incredulous at first, but then she felt happy. Meanwhile, Kalix was still trying to digest his wife's words. His breathing gradually calmed, but his eyes couldn't lie. "Oh, what did you say earlier?" Eugene glanced at Kalix to reassure him and laughed before answering, "I'm pregnant, Kalix. Pregnant with your child." After seeing her husband's expression, she chuckled softly—feeling amused by what she was seeing now. "You didn't expect that, did you?" At that moment, Kalix felt the heat of his anxiety dissipating, replaced by a happiness that was eve

"Eugene, are you alright?" Kalix's worried expression couldn't be hidden when he saw his wife looking pale. Eugene smiled gently. Actually, her stomach was quite upset in the morning, perhaps due to indigestion or eating something wrong. She emerged from the bathroom after vomiting her breakfast this morning. "I think I'm fine," Eugene said casually. "Shouldn't we go to the doctor just in case? I'll take you right now," Kalix suggested. Seeing how caring her husband was, her heart felt warm, but she had to refuse, "I'm okay. Besides, I already have plans with my friends today." Kalix sighed deeply, his gaze shifting to his wife's stomach. "I don't mean to stop you, but how can you go out on an empty stomach? You just vomited all your food." Actually, Eugene didn't feel very hungry, but considering the effort the man had put into preparing breakfast this morning, she felt guilty. "I'll try to eat again." It seemed Kalix didn't quite agree with Eugene's words. However, he also fel
