Outside the hospital room, Three minutes had already passed. A large crowd had gathered outside the door, including three elderly men who were well-respected masters in their field.

They hadn't left yet and had rushed over upon hearing someone boast about saving Liam. "Save Liam? That kid has some nerve! Ha! I've been practicing medicine for over fifty years. Him? Ha! I've heard about him; he's just a young punk who dares to talk about medical skills," one of the masters Scoffed.

"Exactly, Morgan. You might have been fooled. That kid is so young; how could he possibly have any real medical expertise? Besides, Liam's condition has deteriorated to this point there's no way to save him," another chimed in.

"Right! Liam is in such poor health. What does that kid think he can do? He might have ulterior motives. Liam, you need to think this through," the third master added, their arrogance evident in their tone.

These masters were renowned in the industry; how could a young novice possibly save someone they deemed beyond help? Dr. Sam, the professional doctor from the Moore family, also spoke up, "Yes, sir, this kid has an unclear background. How can we trust him to treat the old man? What if he's sent by an enemy..." Before he could finish his sentence, the door suddenly creaked open with a click.

A man stepped out from inside, saying, "It's done." Done? A huge question mark seemed to rise in everyone's minds.

That's it?

"Impossible! Kid, you're just bragging and disrespecting lives. You!" The three masters were about to blow their tops, but suddenly someone exclaimed, "No, really! Look at the instruments; all the readings are back to normal, and the heartbeat has stabilized!"

"Impossible!" The three masters froze for a moment, then rushed inside, calling out in disbelief. After a thorough check, they were stunned-everything was indeed back to normal.

"It's only been a few minutes.. and it's all fine now...?" The three masters stood there like statues, questioning their own understanding of reality.

"Take me to that empty room," Ethan Blackwood said. "Yes, right away," Morgan Moore replied, quickly leading the way. Ethan Blackwood headed to the empty room not because he had spent too much on treating Liam, but because he had just broken through his spiritual barrier today.

His mind was cluttered with many thoughts, and he needed to sort them out. Besides, it was late at night, and going back wouldn't be appropriate.

Meanwhile, Morgan Moore was caught in a whirlwind of thoughts. However, the real shock came after he dropped Ethan off; his subordinates brought him information about Ethan Blackwood.

With the information from Elite Group, the investigation became much easier. However, the moment Morgan Moore received the documents, he was left in shock. "Thompson family son-in-law? Useless, deaf-mute?" Morgan trembled as he held the report, reading the various derogatory labels attached to Ethan Blackwood.

He muttered to himself, "How can they call someone who dares to scold even me, such a domineering person, useless?"

Useless?

Ethan Blackwood clearly knew about the Moore family when he arrived, yet he still had the audacity to reprimand them.

Why was that?

It was evident that he wasn't afraid of the Moore family. Moreover, perhaps what he said was true; maybe the Moore family really didn't have the qualifications to threaten him.

In that instant, Morgan's respect for Ethan skyrocketed. This man was not to be trifled with!

Absolutely not to be trifled with!

The next morning, Ethan Blackwood left the Moore family. He still had to return to the Thompson family. However, upon arriving at the Thompson family residence, he found himself confronted by a man and a woman.

"You're finally back!" Ava, Ethan Blackwood's biological mother, glared at him, her anger boiling over. She and Emerald had been waiting at the door since early morning, but this guy had the nerve to come back so late, leaving them to freeze in the cold wind.

Ava extended her hands toward Ethan, demanding, "Money, hurry up! Your brother is being held hostage, and they want money. You need to pay up! We brought you into this world, so you have to help us out."

"That's right, you carry my blood! You're our son. The family is in trouble, and you must provide the funds," Emerald Blackwood chimed in with a sneer.

He was Ethan's biological father. "Ethan Blackwood, you're the son-in-law of the Thompson family. This family is wealthy and powerful; you can't just sit back and do nothing! If you refuse to help, then you'll have to beg-get on your knees and lick your mother-in-law's and wife's feet. No matter what, you need to bring us the money. You're my son! If you can't get it, then go steal it! Just don't drag us down with you. We don't care how long you spend in jail; you need to get us fifty thousand dollars right now!" Ava shouted angrily.

"You are our son, my son!"

"Give me the money!" Ethan Blackwood stood there, hands clenched, staring at them without saying a word. "What's the matter? Not a single reaction? I told you to beg, to steal, to do whatever it takes to get me that money! Do you hear me, you useless, pathetic, mute, deaf child."Ava was furious and stepped forward, swinging her hand.

Bang!

Ethan caught her hand. "How dare you fight back? You are my son, born from me! You wouldn't dare!" Ava's voice rose in pitch. Ethan loosened his grip!

Smack!

A slap landed on Ethan's face, leaving a red mark. "Thick-skinned, aren't you? You made my hand hurt," Ava huffed, shaking her hand. She then pointed toward the luxurious Thompson family villa. "You go in there right now, and by any means necessary, you better get me that money, you worthless, pathetic child. Get in there!" Her harsh words echoed with venom.

"You are my son, so get in there and find a way to make money-by any means necessary." This was only natural.

Ethan Blackwood stepped inside, and at the entrance stood his mother-in-law, Salome. As he approached her, she swung her hand down at him.

Smack!

But Ethan caught her hand mid-air. Salome spat out angrily, "What, Ethan Blackwood? You think you can fight back? You eat our food, drink our drinks, and every month my daughter gives you ten thousand dollars to donate to that orphanage. I even heard she pretended to act in front of you at that orphanage! And you still dare to resist me?"

Slap!

Ethan let go, and her hand connected with his face. "I'll tell you this, Ethan Blackwood: you are just a dog in our family, do you understand? My daughter only chose you because she didn't want to marry that spoiled brat. Your worthless parents came to our house early this morning demanding money-fifty thousand dollars! You think that's happening? You're just a dog to us, and fifty thousand is a pipe dream!" Salome's sharp voice echoed through the room.

On his partner's face, there were two distinct handprints, one on each side, leaving him looking utterly disheveled. Ethan Blackwood clenched his fists, his nails digging deep into his flesh, a wave of anger surging in his chest.

However, once he reached the upstairs, all his frustrations seemed to vanish. Because up there, he found his neatly packed belongings, along with a bank card, a train ticket, and a piece of paper filled with elegant, beautiful handwriting.

"There's seventy thousand in the account, and the ticket is to Yonkers City. Hurry up! If you stay in Panama City any longer, you won't be safe." It was a note from Jasmine Thompson.

"We've arrived." As soon as they got there, Jasmine let out a sigh of relief. For some reason, being in the car with Ethan had given her an odd, unsettling feeling. But once they stepped out, everything felt normal again. Because once she was out of the car, she was the president of Elite Group-Jasmine Thompson, President Beatrice. Her commanding presence returned. Ethan Blackwood followed behind her, carrying some items. In the past, he had a lackluster demeanor that made him seem weak, but now he exuded a different kind of confidence. Jasmine noticed the change! "Could it be that he feels more confident now that he can speak up?" she thought to herself. But there was no time to dwell on that; they had arrived at the cafe. Upon entering, they spotted a middle-aged man sitting at one of the tables. He was a rather overweight man dressed in luxurious clothing, complete with sunglasses, and flanked by two burly bodyguards-those types that looked intimidating just by standing there.

"Hey sis, look at him..." Beatrice said, clutching her chest as she approached Jasmine, pointing an accusing finger at Ethan Blackwood. "It's not his fault. I heard everything you said, and I told you, as long as I'm not divorced from him, you have to call him 'brother-in-law,' got it?" Jasmine replied, holding a blanket. "I...I... I don't want a brother-in-law like that!" Beatrice huffed, storming out. "I can't stay in this house anymore. It's either him or me!" With that, she left in a huff. "Ugh." Ethan sighed as she watched Beatrice leave. "That girl has such a temper. She'll be fine in a few days; there's no need to worry. By the way, I got you a new blanket." In the room, Jasmine spread out a blanket on the floor. It was a makeshift bed for Ethan. Their marriage was just a formality, and Ethan was merely a chosen orphan by Jasmine. The last time he saved her, it only made her take a proper look at him for the first time. But in the end, they were from completely different

"Go on," Jasmine gestured. Ethan took the bank card and walked out. Outside, the two people were still yelling, especially the woman, who was spewing every nasty word she could think of. "You useless... my dear son!" Ava was about to unleash another insult, but when she caught sight of the bank card in Ethan's hand, her expression changed instantly. "My dear son, Mommy loves you so much!" Ava snatched the bank card from Ethan, kissed it, and then turned to him with a big smile. "Sweetheart, I didn't mean to lose you before. It was just that we were going through some tough times. But things are different now! Things are so much better. Come here, Mommy loves you."She stepped forward, trying to hug Ethan to show her affection. However, Ethan took a step back. "Oh, come on! Why are you stepping back? Why so cold with your mom? But that's okay, things will get better. You'll feel your mom and dad's love soon enough. By the way, we have things to do, so we'll be off now." Ava threw

All the resentment faded away. Ethan Blackwood was engulfed in darkness, while Jasmine was his only light. Just then, Jasmine and Beatrice returned. "I can't believe Morgan came to deliver the financing contract. I thought our company was going under for sure, but it turns out there's still hope! By the way, why did Morgan come to deliver the contract? Does he have a crush on you?" Beatrice's laughter filled the air. However, when they walked in and saw Ethan, her expression instantly turned cold. "Ethan, you useless waste! What are you still doing here? Didn't my sister tell you to pack your things and get out?" "Oh, and Ethan, I forgot to mention that my daughter has come to her senses. She packed your stuff last night, so hurry up and leave. A toad like you thinking you can have a swan? Ha!" At that moment, Salome came up from downstairs and chimed in sharply. They had wanted Ethan gone for a long time. From the very beginning, they had never agreed to him being part of their

They all bowed respectfully. Morgan Moore, the heir of the Moore's family and its first successor. Morgan's gaze fell on Ethan Blackwood, a look of concern in his eyes. Finally, he spoke, "How do you know... my grandfather is seriously ill?" His grandfather, Liam Moore, was the head of the Moore's family. Recently, he had fallen gravely ill and had been bedridden ever since. The old man's position was crucial; any misstep could lead to the downfall of the entire Moore's family. After all, the Moore's family had plenty of enemies. They had kept the old man's condition a secret, so how did this guy know? "Know? Ha! Your Moore's family is surrounded by dark clouds, like crows pe
