Betty nodded, eyes still locked on Elijah.

“He’s the boss of all underground gangsters… the streets call him Phantom. I’ve heard his name several times.”

She glanced nervously around.

“Even the police avoid him unless they’re fully armed. He’s dangerous, Sierra.”

Sierra’s heart began to race. The air around her suddenly felt heavy.

She looked at Elijah, standing still, the bloodied knife still in his hand.

Then, with her heartbeat drumming in her ears, she rushed to him, grabbing his arm gently, her voice pleading.

“Elijah, please,” she whispered.

“Let’s just go. Please spare them. They’re not worth it… I don’t want things to get worse than this.”

Elijah turned his eyes toward her — cold, unwavering.

He shook his head once, firmly.

“No.”

“Go back, Sierra. Don’t interfere.”

There was no anger in his tone.
