CHAPTER FORTY-FIVE

Jemima and her boyfriend sat in front of Eva’s desk.

She had left them there for over thirty minutes after she spoke to them briefly.

Eva had asked someone to get them a bottle of champagne and two glasses, and they were already in the mood for celebration.

After she had poured wine into the second glass, Jemima offered it to her boyfriend, and then she grabbed the other glass from the desk, placing the bottle on it.

“This feels so good, babe!” She chuckled softly, raising her glass toward Brian’s face.

“Cheers to a new job and more money!” She said excitedly, and then they clicked their glasses before taking sips almost at the same time.

Brian was moved to finish his wine, and after gulping the entire glass down his throat, he smacked, turning to look at the bottle.

Ethan needed no one to tell him that something was wrong. He took a deep breath, scouring the entire living room. There was no sound, not even the slightest of it.Just silence, and the thoughts that echoed inside his head. There were feelings of caution, but reminded of the reason why he had returned to the mansion, Ethan had to move toward the staircase, seeing the blood all over the floor. He climbed the staircase, and he could still see the blood, prompting him to follow it until he arrived at the doorstep of one of the rooms upstairs. He stood still, leaned closer to the door with his ear, and listened. He couldn’t hear anything, but the blood on the floor indicated that someone could be inside the room. His eyes went down to the handle of the door, and just when he was about to grab it, he noticed the bloodstain on it as well. This made him retrace his steps, and he took a deep breath while staring at the bloody door handle. The chances of Paul being inside the room were

Your husband is a monster, and he will die for his crimes.”“He is not my husband!” Sabrina bellowed, panting heavily.Ethan turned to Emma, and after they had stared at each other for a few seconds, they returned their gaze to the whimpering lady. Sabrina sniffled, attempting to push herself up.She strained, groaning in pain. “He is my ex-husband, Emma. Eventually, Ethan was able to arrive at the hospital in less than twenty minutes. The hospital was not what they expected, but given the sobriety of the situation, they had no time to be picky. The nurses rushed out with a stretcher and wheeled Sabrina into the building while the young couple followed behind slowly. Emma wanted to go into the ward with her aunt, but she was asked to wait at the reception by the Doctor who was meant to take charge of his aunt’s situation. That put Emma in a more intense situation, and she began to pace from one corner to the other, fear plastered all over her face.Ethan sat quietly on one of the empty seats, ignoring the eyes of the people seated next to him. They could tell by the outfit he and his wife were putting on that they were not from around there, but they could only stare without saying a word. CHAPTER NINETY-ONE Emma groaned, staggering back to her feet. “I am alright.” She managed to break her silence, leaning on the wall to maintain her balance. Then she took a deep breath, turning to Sabrina. “Aunt Sabrina?” She called out, but there was no response. Unable to fight off the feeling that intensely surged into her, she quickly ran to the lady, went down on her knees beside her, and tried to get her to stand. “Aunt Sabrina?!” She called out again, but there was still no response. “Can you hear me?!” She pushed, her breath unsteady. “Get up, Aunt Sabrina! Wake up!” Tears slowly trickled down her face, and when she lowered her ear to Sabrina’s chest, she sighed heavily. “We need to take her to the hospital, Ethan!” She turned to her husband, breathing frantically. Paul shook his head in refusal. “No one is taking her to the hospital! She is not leaving my house! She is my wife!” Ethan growled at him, reminding him that he was with a gun. “That’s not your decisi
