Twenty minutes flew past and the guests were still grappling to figure out who the real liar was.

Suddenly, the door swung open and a man dressed smartly in a pristine black suit walked in.

The hall fell silent.

It’s Roger Blackstone!

Once a commander in East City’s army, Blackstone’s presence was accompanied with a dark, powerful aura.

The Blackstone family was considered the most ruthless and dangerous family in the city and Roger Blackstone was their fearless leader.

The guests watched as Roger approached Asher, murmuring amongst themselves.

“What’s going on?”

All the murmuring ceased when Roger started talking.

“Mr. Asher Deville,” he growled, his voice dripping with hostility.

“I have no idea who you really are but I think you’ve caused enough trouble to last us a decade.

This auction is held in honour of the legendary Goldmaster and I wouldn’t want to cause a scene. Which is why I’m politely asking you to leave.

You have five seconds to get out before I order my guards to pounce on you!”

Instead of cowering in fright like Roger expected, Asher paced the hall like a caged tiger, his eyes cold and devoid of fear.

“Mr Roger, calling me a liar is a very bold move.

Your silly little auction list is filled with fake items, but you continue to deny it!

Since you’re so confident, let’s do a headcount of the items together, shall we?”

Asher did not wait for his response.

“The Head of the royal sphinx, for instance, has been archived in an ancient museum in Italy since 1937. How then were you able to get your hands on it?

That’s not all. The Elm Wood Elixir, one of the rarest and most powerful medicines in the world has also been on display in a museum in Egypt since the early 1900’s.

Pray tell, Mr. Russo, if these items are not fake, how did you and your team get your hands on them?!”

Jaws dropped in the audience, faces paled and gasps of astonishments filled the air at Asher’s shocking revelation.

For the first time ever, Mr. Roger Blackstone was at a loss for words.

“I just ran checks on the auction list and Asher has not told a single lie.” Dr. Richard announced to the guests.

“Besides, the auction list for this event seems rather suspicious. Seventy percent of the items here are either fake or undetectable dupes!”

Tensions were rising. The guests gnashed their teeth, complaining bitterly about being scammed.

“I can’t believe I blew million of dollars on fake items!”

“Yeah, me too. I thought the auction would at least be genuine since it was held in honour of the Goldmaster.”

Before long, the entire situation spiraled into an uproar. Shouts and hollers of injustice rent the air.

The guests were protesting, violently seeking explanations and refunds.

Meanwhile, instead of admitting his fault and apologizing to the audience, Roger Blackstone was busy formulating a plan to stop Asher from exposing other fake items on the list.

If that happened, the angry guests might end up burning the entire hall to the ground.

He had to do something. Quickly.

Roger snapped his fingers and suddenly, six armed guards stormed into the hall.

“Seize that troublemaker!” He yelled, pointing at Asher.

The guards were already advancing towards Asher, weapons drawn.

Suddenly, a loud, authoritative voice tore through the choked room.

“What the hell is going on here? Silence, all of you!!”

A handsome, well-built man stood at the door, his face twisted in a deep frown as he observed the riotous crowd.

His aura was dangerous but magnetic, making it clear that he wasn’t someone who could be messed with.

At the mere sight of him, the guests clamped their mouths shut as a sign of respect and tomb-like silence reigned in the hall.

The man was none other than Slade Macintosh, the Goldmaster’s right hand man.

Although Slade was the underground king of East City and a man of immense power, he wasn’t boastful and neither did he show off like other wealthy residents of the city.

Rather, he preferred to live a discreet life and keep a low profile. He rarely appeared in public and almost never attended any events.

This earned him the nickname “Shadow Emperor.”

Very few people were lucky enough to have seen this powerful shadow emperor in person before today.

That notwithstanding, everyone loved him because he was known for his generous contributions to charity.

“I asked a question!” Slade snapped, stomping into the hall. “What on earth is going on here?!”

“Sir, I was just about to call your attention to this matter.” Roger began.

“A trouble maker has decided to spread lies about our auction.

For years, this event has been hosted without problems. But this time, someone is trying to destroy our good name!

If this charlatan is not dealt with, we might suffer great losses.”

Slade’s eyes darkened with fury.

“Who is the unfortunate scallywag who dares to disrupt the Goldmaster’s auction?

Panicked whispers swept through the crowd at the anger in Slade’s tone.

Whenever Slade Macintosh was angry, heads rolled.

“Every single person who dared to disrupt the peace of this auction made a big mistake!

All of you will be severely dealt with! Be rest assured —!”

“Wait!” Asher cut in before he could finish his statement.

Slade’s ears reddened with annoyance and he slowly turned around, his eyes brimming with rage.

“Who dared to interrupt while I was —”

He never completed that sentence.

The words died on his lips and all the anger drained from his eyes as he took in the man before him.

Asher Deville.

His master…

Should we start making preparations to engage in battle?”General Zarek opened his mouth to speak but hesitated when he noticed that Asher was still standing with them.
