Laxus was having a hard time getting over his conversation with Bowman. It took him every ounce of courage to leave Bowman after staying longer than expected.

And now that he and Nessy were back to their home, he felt his heart swell with so much sadness and disappointment. He could not stop feeling like the universe did not like him.

Laxus lay on the bed while Nessy talked to the chef by the door.

They spoke in hushed tones, but Laxus could hear them.

“Anything you think will make him feel better, please prepare it,” Nessy told the chef.

She looked at Laxus on the bed with so much pity in her eyes. She had come to love and admire Laxus, and the marriage he shared with Nessy. In turn, Laxus and Nessy treated her like family, making her exceedingly loyal to them.

“Of course, I will,” she responded firmly.

“You know I would have done it myself or joined you in the kitchen, but I don’t want to leave his side just yet,” Nessy said.

“I totally understand,” the chef said. “Let me know if y

Linnie smiled as she walked out of the hotel. She didn’t even bother to glance at the receptionist, because she never cared about her.Her mission must have failed, which hurt Linnie deep down and left her in regret, but she had just sown a new seed. She was never one to give up the fight easily.Linnie got into the car she booked and the driver drove out of the hotel premises. She wasn’t stupid enough to come in her car or with one of their drivers, because even though Linnie was at the helm of things now, she did not want to mess anything up. A story of infidelity would make her lose everything. As the driver continued driving, Linnie’s smile vanished when she felt a sharp pain on her lower abdomen. She had almost yelped in pain, but it was gone; Just as quickly as it came, and Linnie relaxed herself. It was probably one of those times where she felt a swift pain which usually turned out to be nothing. Besides, she had been stressing herself lately. Then Linnie’s thoughts drifted

  • Finally Set Free

“I want us back together, Laxus.”Laxus resisted the urge to laugh. He hadn’t even gotten the feeling of Linnie’s presence, and worrying that perhaps, her presence might get out and the public would read a different meaning to it.He was only recently accused of stealing his wife from her parents, and he could only imagine what they would say about another man’s wife in his hotel suite late at night.“You need to leave now, Linnie,” Laxus told her firmly.“I know you want me and you are still in love with me,” Linnie said.Laxus stared at her as though she had gone crazy. She definitely had no idea what she was saying. The only thing he felt towards Linnie was anger. He was angry with her for the betrayal years ago, and he was most definitely angry with her for causing his heart to be so broken that he couldn’t mend it enough to love another woman. Laxus wanted to drag her out of his hotel suite, but he restricted himself.First of all, this was a public place. Other patrons could hea

  • Corny In Her Ways

This was Linnie’s rare chance, and she was going to ensure that she got what she wanted. When Bridget had called her to inform her about Laxus’s decision to spend the night in a hotel discreetly, she had been more than ecstatic.“Seems like there is trouble in paradise already,” Linnie had said coyly. She had always known that Laxus was not in love with Nessy. The only woman Laxus had ever been in love with, and will ever be in love with was her. He probably only married Nessy just to pay her back for choosing Luther.Linnie always knew that her time would come, and now was it.“I don’t think you should go to him, ma’am,” Bridget had tried to advise her.“Why not?” This is the chance I had been looking for all my life and you are saying I shouldn’t go? Why did I plant you there, Bridget? Is it to do nothing with the information you give to me?” Linnie had scolded her.“Not that, Mrs. Linnie Kinkaid, but the last time you reacted on the information I gave you about Mr. Laxus, it had al

  • Loyalty Doesn't Betray

In an hour time, Laxus was already lodged in a hotel suite.“Make sure you book it in your name. I don’t want the press to know that I am spending the night outside my home alone,” Laxus had told Bridget.“I am right on it, sir,” Bridget had responded. The hotel receptionist had been excited to be seeing Laxus, but Laxus had tipped her generously and indirectly informed her that he wanted to be here discreetly. After Laxus was settled in, the only person he could think to call was Bowman.“I know it’s late, and I shouldn’t be calling you, especially with your health condition,” Laxus started to explain the moment the call connected, but Bowman cut him short.“You can always call me anytime, Laxus. I have a heart condition; it doesn’t mean that your call is going to send me to my grave immediately,” Bowman teased lightly. He didn’t sound very sleepy, and his words were a soothing balm for Laxus.“It’s just that I couldn’t think of anyone else to call, Bowman, and you are like the fathe

  • Gone And Over

After they were done with the press release, Luther and Linnie returned to their home.“What next?” Luther asked Linnie as soon as they entered their living room. “Since you are now the one in charge,” he sneered, and Linnie caught it.She turned to him and smiled coyly. “It hurts to see someone else leading, right? Especially the one you never thought would eventually lead,” Linnie sneered back.Luther ground his teeth in annoyance. He thought it would be easy just standing by and watching Linnie take the lead. He thought it would not be so annoying and difficult to allow her do what he was supposed to be doing, but the more he stood by and watched, the angrier he became. His father would be extremely furious with him.“So what next?” Luther asked again. His mind was elsewhere. He hadn’t heard from or spoken to Abby Golden in days, and each time he thought of her, he worried that she might be upset with him. Well, with the things Nessy’s father had said about Laxus, things would s

  • The Press Statement

Linnie and Luther arrived at Lisa’s newsroom for the story that Sancho, Nessy’s father was about to release to the public.Linnie ensured that Sancho was kept safe and secured and away from the public eyes while being provided for. However, before now, she had been doing some deep thinking.Saying the story they had all agreed that he was going to say would tarnish Laxus’s glorious image. Linnie knew that that was what Luther wanted, but that wasn’t exactly what she wanted. Linnie still had unwavering hope that she would get Laxus back, and as a result, she did not want his reputation to be ruined, or even his company to face any setbacks.“When I get Laxus back, I want him wealthy, powerful, and influential, and not someone that has been run down and disgraced,” Linnie had said to herself. So the night before the statement release, she had carefully crafted out the story. Everyone was going to play by her rules now. Linnie was in charge of this ship, and she would not let anything st

I freaking warned you!”Bowman bellowed hotly at Dragon.Dragon looked at Bowman, raw pain and hurt in his eyes. Then he sighed deeply and said, “Well, I hope you can forgive me, boss,” he said tightly. Then he proceeded to walk out, but when he got to Bowman, he whispered into his ears, “And I also hope that you will have the balls to tell him about the other things that he needs to know.”Then Dragon walked out of the study, leaving Bowman, Laxus and Nessy.Laxus was deeply pained. He felt his heart cracking and breaking. He could not believe that this was happening. Somehow, Laxus wished that Bowman would simply burst into laughter and claim that this was all a silly prank just get his attention.Besides, Bowman had tried one or two pranks on Laxus before.“I will just leave the two of you alo

  • Out Of The Bag

“What’s wrong?” Nessy asked when she saw the look on Laxus’s face.Laxus showed Nessy the message, because this wasn’t what he could hide from her even though he wanted to.The message made him deeply and extremely troubled, and his mind began to move in different directions trying to think of who the anonymous person could be talking about. Nessy became worried almost immediately.“Who could have sent this?” Nessy asked.“I have no clue. The message came from a private number, so it cannot be traced, or maybe not immediately,” Laxus answered. “I think the bigger question is who this person is referring to,” Laxus added, deeply worried.“Or maybe someone is trying to play a silly prank on you,” Nessy suggested. “Almost everyone knows now that you were attacked today, so this is probably just to upset you more,” Nessy added.Laxus shook his head; he didn’t believe her.“I doubt that is the casse, Nessy. Who would go the extra-mile just to play a silly prank?” Laxus asked. “I have this
