Laxus arrived in Bowman’s house being driven by his driver and bodyguard in the front seat.

Laxus hated to be here, but then again, he would rather face a harmless Bowman and tell him to his face once again that he wasn’t interested in his offer, and that he would never be interested, rather than face another rigorous interrogative section with a detective who wanted nothing but to see Laxus jailed for something he did not do.

Laxus had been somewhat satisfied when he caught the detective’s regretful face as he watched Laxus jump into Bowman’s car and the driver drove off at top speed, but that satisfaction had long expired when Laxus realized that he was not going to a place he liked either.

“Please, come out of the car,” the bodyguard said. He had opened the door for more than five minutes now, but Laxus hadn’t made a move to get down from the car, so he had to say the words.

“I want to leave,” Laxus demanded.

It was a ridiculous thing to say, especially with the way he had jumped i

“What’s wrong?” Nessy asked when she saw the look on Laxus’s face.Laxus showed Nessy the message, because this wasn’t what he could hide from her even though he wanted to.The message made him deeply and extremely troubled, and his mind began to move in different directions trying to think of who the anonymous person could be talking about. Nessy became worried almost immediately.“Who could have sent this?” Nessy asked.“I have no clue. The message came from a private number, so it cannot be traced, or maybe not immediately,” Laxus answered. “I think the bigger question is who this person is referring to,” Laxus added, deeply worried.“Or maybe someone is trying to play a silly prank on you,” Nessy suggested. “Almost everyone knows now that you were attacked today, so this is probably just to upset you more,” Nessy added.Laxus shook his head; he didn’t believe her.“I doubt that is the casse, Nessy. Who would go the extra-mile just to play a silly prank?” Laxus asked. “I have this

  • Closer

Laxus was still trying to put himself together when Bowman’s call came in.“What is this I am hearing in the news?” Bowman asked, deeply worried and concerned.Hearing Bowman’s voice made Laxus feel agitated; he was already shaken by what happened, and Bowman’s voice just seemed to increase how he was feeling. A part of him had expected Bowman to be upset, because Laxus was still slightly accustomed to Darwin being upset with him and Luther for every single thing, even the ones that weren’t their fault.Laxus could recall a particular incident that occurred when they were in college. His Kinkaid Distillery pen had been stolen from him when he was robbed. Laxus could remember being scared for his life, because his life had been threatened sorely, but the moment Darwin had heard about it, he had exploded on Laxus. He had scolded Laxus for letting them take the pen. He hadn’t been concerned about Laxus’s health and safety. Instead, Darwin had lamented about the pen being in the possessio

  • Beneath The Surface

“Have you ever heard of the name?” Luther asked the man.He seemed very shocked and although the Kinkaid name was a popular one, Luther had a feeling that it was more than just seeing it in the news or reading about it in the blog.“I told you that I would handle this alone,” Linnie muttered to Luther warningly.Luther felt insulted, and he opened his mouth to lash out at Linnie, but he stopped himself, reminding himself that he already made an agreement with himself.“Do you have something else to say?” Linnie asked when she noticed that Luther opened and closed his mouth too quickly.“No, you may carry on,” Luther said, sounding meek and obedient. With everything that had happened and all that he had realized and discovered, he believed strongly now that the way he was acting was the right way to go about it.“Good,” Linnie said before she turned back to the man.“Answer me,” Linnie commanded him.“Yes, I have,” he answered.“From where?” Linnie asked him.“Gary was once a senior st

  • Total Stranger

Luther and Linnie arrived at the small hotel where they booked the blogger and Nessy’s supposed father for a meeting.Luther’s mind was not fully in it. On their way there, he was thinking about Abby Golden and how upset she might be feeling, being that he hadn’t been able to see her, or even get the chance to do what he wanted to do for her.At the same time, Luther put half of his attention into doing this because it would indirectly help him work against Laxus. He still hadn’t decided on what to do about Linnie’s proposal. What he knew for a fact was that there was no way he would give her his inheritance. Maybe all he needed to do was simply play along. You know, allow Linnie to head the game and give her the satisfaction of it, then when she would not be watching, he would strike.Luther realized that he wasn’t exactly like his father who handled situations head-butt like that. Sometimes, in order to win, simply acting like the fool was better.“I am going to handle all the talki

  • Knowledge Is Key

“Who the hell is that man?!” Laxus thundered as soon as he and Nessy were securely inside the company, away from the crowd and crazy man.The moment the brick missed Laxus, his security guard and bodyguards swung into action immediately. First, they opened the gate and guarded Laxus and Nessy until they were inside and the gate was shut back. The whole thing had made the crowd of bloggers and paparazzi rowdy and in a frenzy, causing loud noise and commotion. Bridget and some other staff members who had already arrived hurried out, and Bridget acted bravely by stepping out of the gate and teaming up with Laxus’s bodyguards to chase everyone away from the company premises.Meanwhile, Nessy was greatly shaken by what just happened.“He could have hit you with that brick,” Nessy had said, her body shaking and her lips quivering in fear and shock.Laxus had realized yet again that Nessy was very delicate and soft even though she acted the opposite sometimes.“I know, but he didn’t, and I a

  • Their First Appearance

Laxus was prepared for bed when Nessy joined him after taking her shower. Instinctively, Laxus opened his arms and Nessy obliged. They were like the perfect couple.Nessy snuggled in closer, breathing in Laxus’s smell. She knew before now that she had fallen in love with Laxus, but she couldn’t get over the fact that she told him and he said nothing about it. Well, she had been angry for a minute, but she had had to remind herself that Laxus never proposed any love commitment to her. This was nothing but a marriage of mutual agreement and benefit, and she should be grateful that Laxus was choosing to stay loyal and kind. However, Nessy could not help but fall deeper and deeper in love with Laxus, especially with his gestures, just like he did by pulling her close as she got into bed. They made love every single night, and Laxus ensured that she was well pleasured and satisfied.A part of Nessy wished that he would fall in love with her just the way she had fallen in love with him, but

  • An Opportunity To Step In

Luther squeezed his eyes shut in regret. He knew he shouldn’t have allowed Tyler into his home or even had the conversation knowing that Linnie was upstairs, but he thought that it would be quick and dismissive, and being that they had both crawled into a hole since the incidence, she would not be aware.“I see what is going on here,” Linnie said as she came down to the living room. With the way they saw it, it was obvious that she was eavesdropping, so it would be utterly useless for Luther to deny any of what she must have heard. He turned and looked at Tyler angrily. “Now that you have gotten what you wanted, can you leave?” He asked Tyler angrily.“I came here for money, not this,” Tyler said stubbornly. “Someone was bound to find out anyway, so let’s be grateful that it’s your beautiful wife and not your dad whom you are scared of, or even the entire city,” he added.Luther had no idea that Tyler could be like this. All the times that they did their thing secretly, Tyler always a

  • Caught!

Linnie was furious, and so was Luther. The news that broke out about the Kinkaid Distillery Company had forced everyone into staying away. The only good thing was that it was a temporary setback. However, if they allowed it to linger for too long, it might become a permanent situation.Linnie had the small box that she got from Darwin’s office that was snatched from Laxus at his grandmother’s gigantic mansion. However, she had been trying to open it but couldn’t.“I think I need to find someone who would help me get it done,” Linnie told herself. It was bad enough that Laxus had officially gotten his inheritance; the same thing that Darwin was trying so hard to avoid, and now, he was wealthier than all of them put together. Linnie had never been to the gigantic mansion, but from what she heard, it was the biggest and grandest mansions in the city, and yet, that wretched Nessy happened to be the one by Laxus’s side when he emerged a billionaire.“It should have been me,” Linnie lament

  • First And Last Time

Bowman sighed deeply and heavily as he wiped the tears that had been sliding down his cheeks as he shook his head, trying to get rid of the memories. They were the only memory that Bowman doubted he would be able to forget, no matter how deteriorating his mental health might become.“Katryn Kinkaid…” Bowman mentioned her name.He hadn’t looked away from the inscription on her tomb since he arrived, and this was the first time he was calling her name out loud, and as he did, his heart broke and his lips quivered.Bowman had always been a man of strength, but his only weakness had been Kinkaid’s daughter; a treasure that he couldn’t have.A week after Bowman had returned and not bothered to reach out to Katryn, Mr. Kinkaid had passed on.Bowman had still been dealing with the hurt of losing Katryn, added to the fact that he couldn’t get visions of their lovemaking out of his head, so much so that for that entire week, Bowman had had difficulty concentrating at work. The only thing he co
