 "Room 203..."

Dressed in his delivery uniform of black pants, and white shirt, Jayden walked in to the hotel, heading to the room where he would deliver the food.

As he searched his pocket for the room number, he felt the ring in his left pocket, and brought it out.

He stared at the silver ring with so many undefined emotions, while caressing it the whole time. The light illuminated on the ring, and it shone bright like a diamond.

He smiled sheepishly at the thought of the romantic moment with his bride-to-be.

The silver ring was the engagement ring. He was going to propose to his girlfriend, Stephanie, after work. It was going to be one of the best moments of his life.

He carefully put it back into his pocket, and brought out the card in which the room number was inscribed on.

Jayden knocked the door, it was opened, revealing a man in his early 30's.

Jayden greeted him and stretched out his hand, indicating that he should take the delivery.

The man smiled mischievously, he didn’t take the delivery but said to Jayden,

“Maybe you could get into the room? I want to show you something.”

Jayden became more confused. The rule clearly stated that no delivery person should enter into their client's room. In all his experience as a delivery guy, this was the first time he was experiencing it.

"I'm sorry, sir, but I cannot come in. It goes against the rules."

Several thoughts ran through his mind. What could he want? What was with the mischievous smile? He kept asking rhetorical questions.

"Baby, who is there at the door?"

He was jolted back to reality by the voice of a woman. That voice…it was very familiar to him.

“A delivery man! I called for some food, so that I could have energy to have fun with you.” The man raised his voice.

“You’re so bad, the delivery man is still here!” The girl said with a flighty voice.

The man smiled evilly and he loose the door, now the door was opened widely.

The scene in the room shocked Jayden.

A girl with a bath towel was lying on the bed, with her cheek flushed strangely.

"Stephanie?" He called out, wishing it wasn't here. But reality hit him. It was his Stephanie. The girl he wanted to propose to after work… was in a hotel room, almost naked with a man.

"What are you doing here?" He asked, trying to calm his nerves.

"What… Why are you here?" She asked. She was surprised to see him. She knew that there was no point trying to defend herself. It was crystal clear.

"I called him here, because I thought it would be fun seeing your ex-boyfriend being here." the man said with a strange smile.

“What ex, Stephanie, you told you you were studying in the library! This is how you study?” Jayden couldn’t believe what happened.

He was dreaming that Stephanie would accept his propose, they would have a nice marriage.

But now...Jayden felt so painful, he gritted his teeth, his body was trembling too.

"Well, since you are here already… I guess you know what is happening now. There is no explanation for whatever is going on here."

Stephanie said indifferently, as if she didn’t do anything wrong.

“Anyway, our relationship terminated, so just leave and continue to deliver your food now. Don’t bother me everyday, I felt sick staying with a poor guy like you.”

She sneered.

Jayden could feel his heartbeat quicken.

He tried as much as possible not to show how hurt he felt.

"Why? You said you loved me...we would be together forever..." He quivered. That was the only thing he could mutter at that moment. He thought she would tell him it was all a joke, but the opposite was the case.

"Jayden, don't you get? I cannot be with a man like you! I want cell phones, luxurious bags and limit-edition dresses! Not the poor cheap necklace from a little shop!" she blabbed.

“I’m so embarrassed telling my friends my boyfriend is a delivery man!” Stephanie looked so arrogant, but she forgot she was from a poor family too.

Jayden said with a trembling voice, “But I thought we loved each other, we could...”

“Love? The one who real loved me would give me 3000 dollars allowance, expensive make-ups and beautiful dresses, not like you! You only said, but never do it.” Stephanie sneered.

Her words were like echoes of the mind. It kept repeating in such a rhythm that brought more pain, and caused his heart to break.

The man seemed to enjoy the show, and deemed it necessary to add salt to the injury.

“But I gave everything I had to you...the love from a poor man is nothing?” Jayden whispered.

“Yes, if you’re just a poor delivery man, then how dare you talk about love?” Stephanie sneered.

Jayden smiled, he suddenly calmed down, now he knew what kind of person Stephanie is.

“Maybe you’re right, Stephanie.” Jayden said indifferently, "But remember, do not regret your choice."
