Chapter 5: A New Beginning

"I can't believe is already half a month"

George was staring at the new grave built beside his parents. The grave looked almost the same

"Sometimes, I imagined it to be a nightmare that I would have to wake up to and find out that he was right here with me"

  He exhaled, saddened.

"I'm just glad you did a lot for me and even in the short while that we spent together, you were the best Grandfather anyone could ever ask for"

Tears form in his eyes and George blinks. He knows he shouldn't be crying, even though he was still getting used to life as the Consortium Heir.

"You were the only relative I had left, we had such a good time together, I can't believe I am back to being an orphan"

His heart was heavy, nevertheless he was the new owner of the consortium and shouldn't be seen by anyone crying, otherwise they  would laugh at him and insult him.

"I think we should go''

"You mean like right now, but you just got here"

"I am done for today"

It was becoming too much for George to fight the tears from falling on his cheeks, and so he turned, walking away with his beautiful assistant, Sawyer right behind him.

She was the granddaughter of Mr. Patrick, the old man who was once his Grandfather's Assistant.

"What's next on my schedule?"

"You have to head over to Kirkland, You need to make an appearance in the branch over there"

When he heard that familiar name, he stiffened, fear engulfed him, he halts but he doesn't show it.

"So should I make plans for a trip to Kirkland?"

"Yes"

Kirkland was the city he had lived in when he was married to Vanessa. The place he had worked, everything that he passed throught was in that city, a lot lingers in his mind but he pushed it away and just looked up the blue sky.

The weather was bright and sunny, another good day to visit the branch of his company in the city of Kirkland and prove that his future was bright. Though it was just a branch, it was one of the richest and most powerful companies in local forces.

George walked to one of the black SUVs that was already waiting for him, and the fleet of cars drove off.

"Do you need anything, sir?"

"No Sawyer, if I need anything I will let you know"

George slips his sunglasses into his eyes gaining some confidence that he was on the right path.

There was no other person who could carry on the reputable family name, now he would have to live up to the legacy that his Parents and Grandfather left behind.

**

However, in the city of Kirkland, Mr. Hanson, one of the managers in the subsidiary company George had worked as a designer, was waiting in the George's company in Kirkland for a cooperation opportunity.

He watched as people walked in and out of the conference room to negotiate terms with the company. He smiles, it was almost his time to walk into the room, meet the representative, and negotiate terms.

Standing up, Mr. Hanson walked towards the conference door when one of the assistants quickly intercepted him.

"I'm sorry sir, but you can no longer go inside"

"Why? It is my turn, I have been waiting here and watching everyone walk in and out of that room"

"We just received an order to wait since the New boss will be here shortly"

"The New Boss?"

Mr Hanson arched up his brow, he was confused. Why does it have to be his turn? He frowned.

"How long do I have to wait? I hate waiting, now open the door and let in so that I can meet the representative"

"You just have to wait, I just received an order and I will not let you into the room, the Boss will be here soon, he is already outside the company"

"I have been here all morning, how come you want me to wait a little longer for your Boss? Doesn't this company know that people have other things to do? I drove down here and need to hurry back, I don't have time to wait another second now let me through"

"Don't make a scene here and just wait, I  just informed you that everyone will have to wait for the New Boss, he is outside the company as we speak"

"How dare you people make me wait!"

Mr. Hanson was annoyed that he had missed his chance earlier and had to wait again, Nevertheless, hearing about the New Boss piqued his interest, he was curious to know who that was.

**

Outside the company, many employees gathered.

"I hear we have a New Boss now"

  One of the employees said

"I certainly hope he will be more like Mr. Jeremy Hawthorne"

   Another female employee adds.

"Yes, Mr. Jeremy was nice but he was old and so a lot of people tried to rip him off, I don't trust most of the managers who worked alongside him, I heard that the last one was caught trying to embezzle funds from the company"

  Another employee said

"I don't care about all that, I only hope I get a promotion, do you think he is handsome?"

"I bet he is old like Mr. Jeremy"

  A male employee laughs

From almost every corner everyone was talking about the order that they received that the New Boss was coming to the company.

While the employees were discussing it, a fleet of cars arrived.

"He is here!" One of the employees yelled

The bodyguards got out of the car and opened the door, their faces Stoic.

Stepping out of the car, the employees were surprised to see George Hawthorne, all suited up, he was looking strikingly handsome.

"He is so young"

The female employee whispers, her mouth agape. She was not the only one who had that look on her face, everyone was surprised to see that the Chairman was so young, nothing like they had imagined.

"Not just young but Handsome"

However, George didn't try to make eye contact with anyone, he was not used to this sort of attention and everyone looked at him.

When he walked past his previous Manager, Mr. Hanson who was also standing outside waiting to meet the New Boss, he looked at him.

"He looks so familiar, do I know him?"

He was trying to get a good look at his face but the sunglasses made it impossible for him to recognize him.
