Rise of the Enigmatic Daniel Wells

Chapter 007

Aria's eyes widened with surprise as she stared into the eyes of the same man whom she had just divorced earlier for her lover, but Daniel's countenance was neutral as he walked further into the elevator without acknowledging her.

Daniel was disgusted at the sight of Aria with her Moonlight. Her lack of remorse repulsed him. He couldn't imagine how evil she could be just because she had managed to climb the ladder of fame, ignorant of his sacrifices.

Lila walked closely behind him, bubbling with excitement and wearing a wide grin.

"I can't believe I'll be staying here," she whispered to Daniel. She was so excited that she didn't see her rival, Aria, in the elevator well.

Aria cleared her throat, feeling a burning sensation in her chest at Daniel's lack of respect for her.

"Look, darling. If it isn't the monster who doesn't know how to treat a woman," she stated loudly to John, who was also not pleased to see Daniel.

"He is probably here to beg for an accommodation or something. I bet no one would even look twice at him," he spat, his words bearing the weight of venom in his heart.

Aria's eyes darkened at the proximity of Lila with Daniel. "Lila Lakes."

Lila turned to her, her eyes darkened as well as she stared at her rival. "Aria Symore."

"Really, Daniel? My rival? I always knew that you were never to be trusted. I bet you were seeing her also when we were together, right? You are such a hypocrite for accusing me of cheating when you've been doing that all along. What a betrayer."

Daniel felt his anger rise at her baseless accusation, but he kept his temper in check, ignoring her rants as she continually hurled hurtful words in his direction.

"You are not just irresponsible, but you are also shameless. What do you think people would say to hear that the husband of the megastar actress is hanging out with her rival? I'm so glad that I divorced you!"

She turned to Lila, who was red in the face at this point, unable to bear the words being hurled at her saviour.

"And you, Lila, I'm not surprised you would stoop so low to date a loser like this man. No wonder you never get good roles in the industry. Birds of the same feathers really do flock together," she snapped. "You're a good fit. You're nothing shameless and useless."

Her eyes raked Lila's attractive frame, and her heart burned with jealousy. It was obvious to everyone that of Aria and Lila, the latter was not just more attractive but more talented.

Aria caught sight of John's eyes staring at Lila with dark, lustful eyes, and her eyes darkened even more. Lila was really pretty, and her beauty did stand out in a room.

Daniel silently observed the scene, letting the cold words of Aria pour on him. His eyes were cold, and his face was indifferent as he waited patiently for the elevator to get to the twentieth floor.

"I'd stop acting and just kill myself if I were you, Lila. You wouldn't—"

"Shut up already, Aria," Lila snapped, her soft voice sharp and firm. "I've never seen anyone more it over their head. Where do you think you've gotten to that gives you the right that? Even if he was the worst person in the world, what right do you have to speak down on him like that?"

Aria was taken aback, completely speechless, by the harshness of Lila's reprimanding voice, but Lila was not quite done yet.

Daniel watched on amusement as Lila moved closer to him and took his palms in hers.

"And whatever is going on between us is none of your damned business. Focus on the business that actually pays you. What my boyfriend and I do is none of your business."

Daniel was stunned. His eyes locked with Lila, who batted her eyelids at him. Realising what she was doing, he wrapped his arms around her waist as well, smiling at her.

"Even if we do this," Lila continued, heaping hot coals on Aria's heart with her words. She leaned closer to Daniel, standing on her toes and connecting her lips with his for a moment. Aria's eyes almost popped out of their sockets. "What's it to you?" Lila asked coldly.

It took a whole minute for the baffled Aria to find a response. "It-It's none of my business," she choked out. "After all, I'm too busy being a star to care. Why should I care about you when the director has invited me to his party to choose the female lead for the next movie?"

That made Lila fall silent for a moment.

"Cat caught your tongue?" Aria mocked, her tone hateful. "I wouldn't bother trying to attend if I were you. It would be a shame to see you thrown out for not being qualified to attend. Even if you're allowed in, don't worry, I won't rub it in your face when I get selected as the female lead again."

With that, the elevator door crawled open, and Aria linked her arms with John's, strolling out in obvious discomfortable.

Hours later, Daniel sat in the living room of his luxurious apartment in the same building thoughtfully. He now had second thoughts about the party the director had called to invite him to.

After playing with his phone for a moment, he dialled the director's like again.

On the second ring, the director answered. "Good day, Mr Wells. Is all well?"

"Your party. I want you to Lila Lakes and follow my instructions afterwards."

Gleefully, the thrilled director gasped, "Of course, Mr Wells."

Lila explored the beautiful apartment she had been so generously allowed to stay by her saviour. As her fingers trailed the beautiful mosaic designs on the walls, her phone buzzed with a message.

'Ms Lila Lakes, you are invited to the party. You have been nominated among others who are applying for the role of the lead actress in the next new movie. Good luck, and we hope to see you there.'

A loud squeal escaped her lips. Lila couldn't believe how much her luck had turned within the past few hours since she met Daniel. He was indeed her good luck charm.

Meanwhile, in the patio of a luxurious mansion, an excited Cledf bumped his fists in the air in joy.

"The renowed Daniel Wells will be present at my actors casting!" He exclaimed to himself, bursting into a funny dance gleefully. "He will really be here!"
