CHAPTER 2
He frowned, confused about why it was so. However, he grabbed the remote on the table and turned it off before hurrying upstairs. This house was his. He had rented it for himself and his girlfriend through his savings from his cleaning job at his current workplace. However, due to his work schedule and the distance from the house to work, David had decided to live in one of the rooms provided by the restaurant for its workers. His girlfriend had been the only one staying in the apartment, still hunting for a job. Reaching upstairs, David paused at the door. He hesitated before holding the doorknob, twisting it to open it. But it was locked. Surprise etched on his face. “Locked? Why did she lock it?” He muttered, shaking his head. Then he knocked. “Skyler, please open the door. It’s me. David.” There was no response. He sighed, “Open the door, please.” he uttered, his patience wearing thin. It was at that moment— “Is that the condom guy? What took you so long, you son of a bitch?” A deep, muscular voice growled from inside. David’s brow rose, puzzled. “A guy?” His heart drummed. Before he could say another word, the door creaked open. “You lazy ass, I will deduct your f*e for the de—” The sentence stopped halfway as the figure’s gaze who had just emerged landed on David who stood at the door. The man dressed in a white towel, stood tall at the door, his muscles tensed. He has a nice body structure. David’s body shivered involuntarily as he took in the figure completely. He stepped back, his mind struggling to catch up with the image right before him. He had seen this face before if not physically. But he definitely knew he had seen this person. At that instant, the image flashed back. He remembered him. It was the man who had offered to give his girlfriend a job. “You?” David’s eyes widened with disbelief. “What are you doing here? In my house?” He looked over the man’s shoulder as if searching for someone. The man chuckled softly. He was about to respond when— “Babe, what’s the delay? Get the condom and come hit me hard.” A voice interrupted from the inside. This time it was a familiar female voice. The man looked inside, “Got a visitor here. Not the delivery guy,” before returning his gaze to David, his lips curling with a smirk. “Really?” The female’s voice was laced with panic. “Who’s that? Aren't expecting anyone. I’m coming.” “It’s you, David.” the man smirked. “Weren’t expecting you to show up so fast after seeing the text.” The word struck David. Revelation kicked in. It wasn’t his girlfriend who had sent him that text. It was this man. “What do you mean? And what’s happening here? Why are you here all dressed like this? And where’s Skyler?" David’s nose flared with anger. He tried to force himself into the room, but the man crossed his hands at the door, restricting him. “You can’t go inside.” He said not challenging. David was stunned. “Why? Why can’t I go in? This is my house.” “Not anymore.” The man shook his head. At that moment— "Who's the per—-” A figure stepped out, also wrapped in a white towel above her knees, revealing her flawless thighs. David gulped when he saw her. But it didn't ease the fury in his chest. This lady was no other person than Skyler Bennett. David's girlfriend. Skyler gasped immediately and spotted David standing at the door. Her body trembled. "Da—David? W–What are you doing here? Ain't you supposed to be at work?” David shot her a piercing look. “What's he doing here like this in our house, Skyler?” He pointed at the man, chest burning with rage. “Isn't he the manager, Mr. Everett Anderson, who promised to get you employed? Why is he here? And dressed this way?” "Da—David, please go out. Go back to work. I'll explain everything to you when you return on the weekend.” Skyler spoke, her voice barely above a whisper. "Huh? Go out? Are you going to explain everything to me on the weekend? What's that?" David retorted. “Explain everything to me now. What's he doing here like this?" “It's not what you are thinking, David. Just go! I'll explain everything later.” "Go? Where? What do you even take me for? A clown or what?" He shot, his voice rising now, eyes red. “You are alone with him in the room like this and you expect me to leave? Without an explanation? Didn't you just call him, " babe”? What's that supposed to mean?" "Why are you even gatekeeping, Skyler?" Everett Anderson said, interjecting in the conversation. He stepped forward, looking at David's furious expression. "You want to know the truth, huh, don't you?” He asked, smirking. “We had sex yesterday. We were just about to do the same today. I purposely texted you with her phone so you could come see us. Didn't know you'd arrive before that lazy ass delivery guy.” To Everett, David can't stand a chance against him even if he reveals the truth. Hearing those words, David's heart pounded against the walls of his chest. His eyes moved to Skyler, disbelief and betrayal filled them. He felt a sharp pain surge through his chest like a sharp blade. The woman he trusted. The woman he had sacrificed everything for is having an affair with another man when he's out? Right under their roof? This can't be! “Is this true?" He asked, his voice cracking, the betrayal stinging more than a bee.Latest Chapter

Chapter 9David slowly took a look—Boom! It was true.Same two letters. Nothing changed. The same way it was written on his hand, that was the same way it was on this man’s hand. Stylishly. No difference.Others drew close to have a look too. They staggered backward.“It's the same. No difference.”"That's his Dad.”"Wow!”Eyes flew wide open, hands flying to cover mouths.“You…..you are my dad? H—how?David's body weakened instantly. It was as if a bolt of lightning struck him.He was utterly short of words.“I know this may be difficult to believe but I'm your father. Walter Taylor,” Walter uttered, nodding his head. “These two letters (DT) drawn here represent your name, “David Taylor". My mother and I have it drawn there. Right on your left hand. But did mine in remembrance of you after I left your mother."His voice broke as he started to explain, a trace of sorrow and deep regret in his expression. “Didn’t mean to leave my wife, your mother all alone with you. Things got so tou

CHAPTER 8 Hearing that, the staff lady who had rushed down when she heard the noise smiled. “The worst is going to happen to him today. Foolish boy!” David's close pal at work, shook his head, feeling pity. “Warned him not to go. Look what he’s doing to himself.” “But S—-” the security leader wanted to argue. "I said, drop him down.” He swallowed hard and nodded. As David was slowly been taken down as ordered—- Boom! The man saw something around his hand. Two embedded letters. It was rightly written on David’s left hand. Bold. Clear. Visible to read. He instinctively staggered backward. One of the bodyguards caught him immediately. The customers exchanged glances. Even David was shocked as he stared at the man. “Are you okay, Sir? Need some water?” one of his men asked, worried and concerned. Mr. Walter shook his head. "No. I'm fine. No need.” His bodyguard swallowed hard, nodding even though worry was still etched on his face. Walter reluctantly walked forward, stand

Chapter 7 The telephone in her office started to ring, interrupting the moment. The manager brushed David off and picked it up. “Ma, Mr. Walter is here already.” Her heart jumped before dropping down. “Alright. Thank you. I'll be there right away." She dropped the telephone down and then turned to David. "He's here already, you have to leave,” she commanded with panic in her voice. But David was adamant. He was still on his knees, begging. “Please, Ma, don't do this to me. I've no place to go. Everything has been taken away from me. This is my only hope of survival. Please." But it was too late—- Because the manager had grabbed back the telephone, dialing a number. “Yes. Come to my office right away. Come with some other security guards. Be fast." Not up to five minutes until the call got disconnected, the door swung open. Security guards dressed in uniformed outfits strode inside, batons in their hands. The leader stepped forward and bowed. “Ma, you called.” She nodded

CHAPTER 6 An hour later…. A cab slowly stopped in front of a towering building and the door opened. David hurriedly stepped out, his heart pounding against his chest–not from Skyler's betrayal anymore but from the fear of losing his job. Right now, this job is his only hope of survival. Skyler had not only betrayed him, but had also set his belongings on fire. If he loses his job now, he'll be left with nothing, wandering on the street, eating crumbs like a slumdog. Quickly, David reached into his pocket, hoping to grab a buck to pay the driver. However, nothing came out. He dug deeply for the second, expecting to see something yet nothing. “Damn it! Got no bucks on me.” He cursed under his breath, slamming his hand against his leg, sweat forming on his forehead. He lowered his gaze, shame and embarrassment covering his face as he opened his mouth to speak to the driver. The driver, dressed in a black, slightly shabby jacket, hands wrapped against the steering wheel, patien

How the hell does his punch have so much weight?"Skyler sat beside him. "I'm sorry, Everett. Had no idea he had turned into a devouring animal. Was stunned."She was reluctant. “But why did you have to text him to come over to the house, Everett?" Skyler asked, disappointed. "Never wanted him to find out this way.”Everett grabbed a glass of water from the table nearby, trashing the tissue paper on the ground. He sipped."But why, Skyler?” Everett asked. "Besides, it doesn't matter how he finds out. He doesn't even deserve an explanation."Sklyer didn’t look at him. She didn’t even reply.Everett sipped the glass of water again before placing it back down on the table. He shifted closer to Skyler on the bed
