"Let me handle it myself," Dave 's emphatic voice echoed, leaving Michael nodding in agreement.

There was a desire to object because he felt useless as a bodyguard for the man.

"But, Mr. Dave . They will surely..." Michael started, but Dave signaled for him to just follow his words. Reluctantly, Michael finally closed his mouth tightly.

"I'll be right back," Dave said shortly, turning on his heel and walking into the Warleslock Company Group.

All the employees who had once been his colleagues there didn't seem the same anymore.

Many of them whispered, discussing Dave who had been a parasite in their company a year ago.

"Shameless! He embezzled company funds and still has the audacity to show his face here!"

"That's right. He should never have come back here. His presence will surely only bring more bad news."

Dave ignored all the sneers directed at him. He kept walking, thickening his ears so that none of those words would affect him.

Dave opened the door to his old office, searching for something important left behind there.

"Dave Ramirez! You've got some nerve to set foot in my company again."

A middle-aged man approached him, followed by his daughter trailing behind him.

"I'm sure, Dad. He must be here to gather information about our company and then intend to destroy it. He definitely holds a grudge against us."

Selena hissed as she stared at Dave with a disdainful gaze.

"You poor excuse for a man! Don't ever dream of being able to do anything. You should be self-aware, never able to provide for your woman's needs. Especially since our social status is so vastly different," Selena didn't hesitate to hurl deep insults at Dave .

Meanwhile, the middle-aged man, who was the girl's father, merely observed, seemingly openly supporting his daughter's behavior.

"A former convict like you should not set foot in this company again. I don't want your convict virus to spread and have a negative impact on my company!" Mr. Warles sneered, belittling the man before him.

Dave remained motionless, offering no response whatsoever. He simply let the two continue to hurl insults at him incessantly.

"What goodness have I lacked in providing for you all this time? You were able to work here with a decent salary, and I even married you to my daughter. But you, you have no sense of gratitude," Mr. Warles seemed to harbor deep resentment.

"I let my daughter, who was accustomed to her luxurious life, start from scratch again with you. I thought you would strive for the best. But instead, you exploit everything with the intention of destroying my company. Despicable!" The man spat near Dave .

A satisfied smile was clearly visible at the corner of Selena's lips.

She was pleased; now the man felt even more humiliated.

After all, the annoyance from his arrogant demeanor during the trial continued to haunt Selena.

She would not stand for Dave not getting what he deserved.

"Oh, Dad. There's one more important thing Daddy should know about him," Selena managed to capture Mr. Warles' attention, her brow furrowing as she asked what her daughter meant.

"What is it, Selena?" Mr. Warles looked intently at his daughter.

"Just so you know, during the trial, he willingly sold his dignity by intentionally selling his kidney. Wearing designer clothes, bringing someone paid as his fake bodyguard, and renting a VIP Custom-made Lamborghini worth 800 million dollars, he rented and paid for it by sacrificing his kidney," Mr. Wales chuckled with satisfaction, looking at Dave with even more contempt.

"Perhaps he thought that by flaunting all that glamour, I would surely come back to him. But he forgets who I am. An educated woman who will never believe in his fake wealth. Haha..." Selena laughed gleefully at seeing Dave increasingly cornered.

"Even if I asked him, Victor would surely buy back the kidney you sold to someone else. You are incomparable and will never be able to compete with my wealthy lover," Selena continued, her tone mocking.

Dave closed his eyes, trying to calm his unsettled heart.

"What's going on? Are you planning to become a national prisoner again by harming me and Daddy?" Dave raised his face, his gaze sharp as someone who had lost all conscience.

He then pulled an envelope from his suit pocket, placing it on the nearby table.

After placing it, Dave simply left, leaving Mr. Warles feeling humiliated.

"What did you put on the table?! Is this how a poor man like you behaves?" Mr. Warles stopped in his tracks for a moment without turning his body at all.

"I believe you are educated enough to read and understand the contents of that envelope," Dave replied calmly.

Without saying another word, Dave left, leaving Mr. Warles feeling insulted by the man.

His hands clenched tightly, preparing himself to teach Dave a valuable lesson for his insults.

"Be warned, I won't let you live peacefully like this. You will pay for this insult."

On the other side, Dave stepped out, once again having to steel himself against the onslaught of negativity from some of the employees who were intentionally trying to break his spirit.

At the end of the terrace, on the top step, Michael waited for him, arms crossed.

"You can go home now," Dave spoke loudly to the man.

This immediately made Michael turn around.

"Mr. Dave ? Alright, Mr. Dave . We'll return to the mansion together. I'll..." Michael started to say.

"Just you. You can go back to the mansion now," Dave interrupted.

Michael fell silent for a moment, trying to understand the meaning behind his boss's words.

"What do you mean, Mr. Dave ?" Michael asked, trying to comprehend.

"There are still things I need to take care of. You can go back to the mansion. Don't worry about me, I'm used to being alone before you came," Dave replied.

Michael, who had always obeyed, now dared to voice his small protest.

"But, Mr. Dave . I have a responsibility and duty to protect you. If Mr. Dave goes alone, then I will be seen as a bodyguard who..." Michael tried to argue.

"No need to worry about what others say or think. I'm the one giving you the order to leave me alone. It's better if you go back now," Dave signaled through his gaze, convincing Michael to leave.

With a heavy heart, Michael reluctantly followed Dave 's instructions. The man left as instructed by his Master.

Making sure Michael was gone, Dave then walked away, leaving the area of the company that had managed to shatter his life.

Dave walked with confidence, his gaze flat and expressionless.

Not long after, suddenly a woman with a hat that almost covered her entire face ran towards Dave .

She collided with Dave 's body, but luckily at that moment, Dave swiftly caught her before they could fall.

"Sir, please help me!" The woman furrowed her brow, her words filled with ambiguity.

"Please, help me, Sir, some people intend to harm me."

Dave followed behind Mac, who moved with nimble speed, feet hopping quickly over the wet ground, avoiding roots that jutted out from the soil, weaving between the dense plants.Mac led them to a small stretch of garden that looked remarkably fresh, various kinds of vegetables growing lush and healthy there. There were bright red tomatoes, fresh green chilies, large purple eggplants, thick leafy water spinach, and many other plants that had been tended with care despite the simple conditions. At the far end of the garden, there was an area covered with thick creeping vines spreading across the ground. Mac stopped there, then crouched down, scraping away the vines with both hands, pushing aside the leaves and stems that were covering something beneath. Then, with all his strength, Mac heaved open a large wooden door hidden under the creeping plants. It was heavy, Mac let out a grunt as he lifted it."Please, Sir! Quickly, we need to hide down below right away!" Mac said in a rush, his v
