"Miss Brianna! Where are you going?"

Dave seemed frozen, as if he wanted to ignore the woman, but there was something pulling him, halting any movement he intended to make.

Though not a single word escaped Dave 's lips, he remained faithfully standing before the woman.

Upon hearing the footsteps of several people chasing her, the unidentified woman immediately hugged Dave tightly. Tears started to fall from her eyes, wetting Dave 's suit.

"Please, help me, Sir! I'm afraid of them all. They're trying to hurt me. I beg you, please help me!" The woman's cries made Dave unable to bear it, and he instinctively raised both hands, returning her embrace.

For a moment, Dave bowed slightly, noticing the woman's face which captivated his gaze. Her hair was tied in a ponytail, with natural-looking makeup blending seamlessly into her skin, giving her a different charm from other women. Her face could be described as quite captivating; she looked beautiful and enchanting.

However, one thing continued to puzzle Dave : the reason behind the woman being chased by several people, who even appeared to be bodyguards or the like. Moreover, how could she go alone until she was chased and made her half terrified?

Fortunately, she met Dave . If not? Who knows what would happen to her later.

"Let's search over there. Maybe Miss Brianna is there."

The group of people clustered together then decided to leave.

Once everyone had moved away and left, Dave released the embrace between them.

Only then did Dave ask all the questions he had been wanting to ask.

"Now, tell me. Who are you really? And those people, who are they?"

Silence. The woman seemed to ignore Dave 's words.

Not once did she utter a single word; she appeared busy tending to herself.

Even muttered frustrations indicating annoyance could be heard softly from her mouth.

"So annoying. Now my clothes are ruined because of you."

Dave furrowed his brow, trying to understand every word uttered by the woman.

"Huh? What do you mean?" Dave seemed puzzled.

"You old man. You should just stay at home. No need to wander around because old men like you are better off spending time at home."

Dave was taken aback.

The change in the woman's demeanor was evident in his eyes.

Instead of expressing gratitude and the like, the woman showed arrogant and ungrateful behavior.

She seemed busy trying to tidy up her slightly tattered clothes. Even Dave wasn't that bad.

"You ungrateful girl! You should be thankful to the person who helped you. If I knew you were like this, I would never have helped you."

The woman shrugged nonchalantly. She didn't care at all about Dave 's threatening tone.

"I know you're mesmerized by me. But I'm not interested in you at all. And don't dream of being with me because you're not my type." Finally, the woman spoke up.

Dave clenched his fists.

The girl, who seemed to be younger than him, appeared very arrogant and annoying.

"Ugh! Disgusting. Now I have to take a shower immediately. You striped-nosed man! Men like you always take advantage in difficult situations!" The woman cursed again.

"Stop talking nonsense! I also refuse to hug a crazy girl like you."

The woman widened her eyes, lifting her face as she threw a sharp glare at Dave .

"What did you just say?" she asked, intimidatingly.

"I refuse to hug a crazy and pretentious woman like you," Dave reiterated.

Slap!

Without hesitation, the woman slapped Dave 's face.

His emotions escalated even further; the woman was clearly unstable and at the highest level of madness.

Just look! Instead of being grateful, she slapped him.

"How dare you say such things to a woman?!"

Dave closed his eyes, trying to control the anger building up inside him.

"Fine. I'll back off. Now tell me why they were chasing you like that? And why were you walking alone in a place where clearly few people pass by like now?"

Dave tried to be kind to the woman.

Perhaps with a gentler approach, she would be willing to provide him with useful feedback.

However, all of it was in vain.

"That's none of your business. Who they are and why they were chasing me, it has nothing to do with you."

Enough!

Dave had enough of pretending to be so kind and caring.

Now, it was time for Dave to realize and forget about the woman.

Forever, arrogant and crazy women like the one in front of him would never behave properly.

"Whatever you say. I'm sick of self-centered girls like you. You just deal with your own issues and don't involve me in anything that happens to you. Remember that!"

Dave then walked away with a troubled feeling. His emotions ignited, leaving a tight fist in his right hand.

"Hmph! I don't need any more help from you! Stop thinking you're my forever dependency!"

Dave could only shake his head. The woman was still behaving like a typical arrogant child.

Not long after, suddenly people started chasing the woman again.

"Miss Brianna! Where are you going!"

Faintly, Dave could hear voices from several people.

"Sir! Sir! Please stop! I beg you, don't leave me alone! Stop, Sir! Please help me, Sir!"

The woman screamed, trying to reach Dave , who was quite far from her.

"Sir! Please help me! Don't go!"

With all her strength, the woman ran and managed to grab Dave 's arm.

She begged again, asking for help, "Please, Sir! Please stop, Sir! Please help me!"

This time, Dave didn't want to be swayed by her words anymore.

After all, the woman had previously stated that it wasn't Dave 's business about who those people were.

So, it felt justified for Dave to decide to ignore every word from the woman.

"I beg you, Sir! Listen to me! Please help me! They will definitely hurt me if they catch me!"

The woman looked utterly resigned.

Her cries could be heard again, but this time Dave was immune to it all.

Dave shrugged off the woman's hand and walked away without a second thought.

"Finally! You won't go anywhere else, Miss Brianna. You have to come with us."

The woman tried to resist, continuing to call out to Dave , but she was ignored.

"Enough, Miss Brianna. It's better for you to come with us."

They all tried to take the woman, causing her to think hard, racking her brain for the right excuse.

Until a sudden idea crossed her mind, a faint, sly smile forming at the corner of her lips.

"Help me, Sir! They're all evil people! They're going to rape me! They all want to defile me!"

Thunk!

Dave 's footsteps instantly halted. And now, it wasn't just Dave who was shocked by the woman's statement; the people holding her were equally stunned.

"What do you mean, Miss? We wouldn't do that. We're paid bodyguards to protect you, Miss Brianna. Not to harm you," one of them said, trying to reason.

The woman seemed unfazed, continuing to struggle to free herself. She was confident that Dave would come to her aid.

"Release the woman! Or you'll face the consequences."

The cold voice sent shivers down the spine of everyone who heard it. Dave arrived as expected by the woman.

There were bright red tomatoes, fresh green chilies, large purple eggplants, thick leafy water spinach, and many other plants that had been tended with care despite the simple conditions. At the far end of the garden, there was an area covered with thick creeping vines spreading across the ground. Mac stopped there, then crouched down, scraping away the vines with both hands, pushing aside the leaves and stems that were covering something beneath. Then, with all his strength, Mac heaved open a large wooden door hidden under the creeping plants. It was heavy, Mac let out a grunt as he lifted it."Please, Sir! Quickly, we need to hide down below right away!" Mac said in a rush, his v
