SHIN SEKAI: SPARK OF THE NEW WORLD

Not enough gadgets

Rin and Cypher remained in their initial positions, both pointing their weapons at each other.

  Rin had a Shin Sekai laser gun, which was known to be powerful. It had the looks of a revolver pistol but it was surely way faster and more powerful. on the other hand, Cypher had right his index finger. it didn't seem powerful at first, but as both of them fired and evaded, it proved to be much more effective than Rin's pistol. 

  With just his index finger, Cypher was capable of mass destruction and rapid fire. Rin wasn't even getting a little chance for a return fire. all she could do was run, evade and frequently use energy shields to block the incoming shots. 

  "This is going to be quite easy" Cypher thought as he added his left Index finger to the equation. but this thought was quickly overturned when Rin pulled out a laser cannon from what seemed to be nowhere. 

  Cypher was hit by two things; a strong laser beam, and great deal of shock. he could block the beam but the shock hit him really hard. "what do I do now" he said to himself. before he could answer that question for himself, Rin came running through the clearing dust yelling "HOW ABOUT YOU GET OUT !!!" before punching him with the mechanical arm that she had just equipped, sending him through the roof and out of the office.

  the uppercut from Rin left a scratch on his jaw; enough to reveal a few electronic features and then the impact from the roof messed with his hairdo but since he was back on the surface, Cypher decided to take a little leap and see how the other hunters were doing. Instead of a still ongoing battle that he had predicted, what he saw was a rounded up fight and he realized that he was the last hunter standing. 

  as he hovered in the air with his 'jet thruster feet', Cypher felt something latch on them. as soon as he looked down, he saw that he was being pulled to the ground. he landed with a great force on the ground and this time, he wasn't going to make any mistakes. 

 not up one second after hitting the ground, he was already in front of Rin, and with a six inch blade sticking out and spinning through his palm, he was ready to put a hole through her forehead.

  the seemingly surprised Rin dodged splendidly to counter with jab on the ribs, but as soon as the punch connected, a long thick needle pierced through her hand from the point of impact. the needle pierced her bones and vital muscles, causing her to lose all functions of her right hand and a lot of blood by the time she backed away.

  what stared Cypher in the face was a great opportunity. he was unable to fulfil the purpose of his mission and there was no greater consolation than taking the life of someone much more important than his target. 

  Rin was not only the principal of Shin Sekai academy, she was the CEO of Shin Sekai as a whole. Shin Sekai was rumoured as the company that took over world. from food to technology to health and many commodities, Shin Sekai was leading in all of them. Despite all these factors, only one person stood at the top with, absolute authority, no opposition no board of directors, no identity. the only person that would know that person was Rin, and if she were to die, there would be Chaos and a much more important target was bound to emerge. 

  Cypher explained all this to Rin who replied with "How about you do it instead of talking too much". as heard this, he was enraged and immediately ran to kick her head off. but as his boots got close to her face, Rin made an abnormal evasion. still enraged, Cypher swung another kick and then a punch and then barrage of seemingly unreadable attacks which Rin not only evaded but also blocked. The most shocking part was that she was also using her right hand.

  as the fight continued Cypher finally began to notice the miniature barriers that stopped each individual needle that shot out of his body as he attacked. he was also able to look through her skin and see was equipped with an E.V.A(extra vascular augment) that allowed her to make her unexpected evasions and use her right hand. at this point he was beginning to who wonder he was fighting because he never expected that a battle with an unpowered person could be so difficult to win. 

  "At least she can't attack me". that was the thought going through Cypher's mind before he saw all his needles in the air detached from his body, and before he could say "what th..." he was kicked back a few metres. 

  He looked and saw Rin holding on to was perceived as a high frequency sonic blade (the type that vibrates so quickly that it looks still). then he looked at himself and saw that the needles were not the only things that were detached. his entire weapons system was in shambles, and his armour was shaved off so he was pretty much naked and had not choice but to use the last tool in his shed which was to hack.

  "with this I could win the battle." he said as he shot a faint beam that barely bruised Rin on her forehead and seemed to have no effect.

  but soon Rin's right hand was back to its dysfunctional state and the E.V.A was completely shut down. the sword fell out of her right hand so she had to pick it up with her left. she could stand but was probably it.

  "finally!!!" Cypher yelled as he dashed to finish off the weakened principal, but he immediately backed out as he noticed the smile on her face. he wondered about the reason behind the smile the until he looked and saw that the sword was still on and vibrating at full frequency. he had forgotten that there was such things as magical swords and worst of his situation was that the sword was not his only problem. 

  he looked and saw that he was surrounded by almost every staff of the school and that escaping was going to be quite impossible. 

  with little hesitation Cypher made his way past few teachers and headed straight for the class buildings. some teachers went to help Rin while Kojiro and others gave chase.

  Shin Sekai academy was a school mostly attended by royals and children of wealthy people so Cypher had a ninety-five percent chance of grabbing an important hostage and Kojiro knew exactly what he was thinking but there was no speedster among the teachers and Cypher's machine body was at an advantage so he got lucky. 

  his unfortunate hostage turned out to be little Marie Roswell and the situation was perfect for him since she had no powers.

  Kojiro and the others had to stop in order not to make a mess of things. most hostage situations turn out to be bluffs but he wasn't taking his chances with Cypher so he prioritised his students survival over other outcomes. 

  "If you let girl go, I'll let you escape" he said as he motioned his fellow teachers to stand down. but to the surprise of everyone Cypher's reply was "I don't plan on letting go. I'm taking you all out now" . it wasn't long after he said it that the teachers saw huge glowing ball of energy on his chest that was so hot Marie received a severe burn, and no one had to tell them that he was about to explode. 

  the teachers had already lost all hope when Cypher suddenly shut down and fell lifeless along with Marie. they didn't see anybody until they saw Marie being helped up and then they knew it was Yang. nothing was expected less from the phantom bolt.

  One would wonder how Cypher got his armour shaved off in less than a second. the truth lies in the sword that Rin wielded. a katana called "the weakner". it doesn't weaken its wielder but instead gives his/her strength and speed.

  it earned its name due to the way it functioned. the blade guides the wielder to the strongest parts of his opponent in order to destroy them and prevent them from using it in the future. what makes this blade so dangerous is that no matter how weak its wielder is it will still cut with incredible speed. so anyone unfortunate enough to be made it's target might end up like Cypher...or worse.
