INTRODUCTION

My name is Ren. 27 years old. A normal college student in Tokyo, 2025.

At least, that's what I thought.

I lived a quiet life. Until I died saving my best friend.

I woke up in another world. A world of snow and castles.

Everyone knelt and called me - MY KING.

I was the Demon King. The most feared being in all realms.

But I didn't want war. I wanted peace.

Then I woke up again in a Tokyo hospital. Doctors said it was a coma. A dream.

I tried to forget. I went back to college.

They did not forget me.

My loyal knight Vane has opened a portal. He is coming to find me in Tokyo.

He will stand before me and say "My King."

And I won't remember him at all.

This is the story of a Demon King who wanted peace,

and the man who forgot he was a King.

CHAPTER 1: THE LIFE OF REN

Tokyo, 2025.

My name is Ren. I am 27 years old. I am just a normal college student.

I have a small, happy family. My parents, my younger brother Sam, and my younger sister Lily. And I have one best friend, Ken. He is like a real brother to me.

My sister Lily is crazy about a novel. Its name is Demon King Fantasy.

I hate that novel.

Why? Because the Demon King in it, Haru, is so cruel. He kills humans for fun. He has no mercy. He even treats his own demons like slaves.

He has only one loyal servant. His name is Vane. Vane loves his King so much. He respects him with all his heart.

But the Demon King never loves him back. He is cruel to Vane too. I feel so sorry for Vane.

Yesterday, Lily finished the novel. She ran into my room, so excited.

"Ren! The 6 Heroes and Crown Prince Kenji finally killed the Demon King! His kingdom has fallen! Everyone is free now!" she shouted.

She was so happy. She said, "Prince Kenji is so handsome and kind! He is my favorite!"

I asked her, "Why do you like him so much?"

"Because he brought peace!" she said.

I just laughed. "So the story is over now."

She smiled and left.

After she left, I was alone in my room. I thought about Vane again. Poor Vane. His King never cared for him.

I whispered to myself, "If I were the Demon King, I would change everything."

"I would not be cruel. I would make demons and humans equal. I would be friends with the heroes. And I would truly love and take care of Vane. There would be no war. Only peace."

I laughed at my own words. "Stupid. It's just a story."

Then I fell asleep.

THE NEXT MORNING

Everything was normal. My best friend Ken came to my house. We were walking to college together.

"Do you read novels?" I asked him.

"What novel?" he said.

"Demon King Fantasy," I said.

He made a face. "I hate that novel. I am so glad that Demon King died in the end."

"Me too," I said.

We were talking and walking. The road was busy. Many cars.

Ken saw a shop on the other side. "Wait, I want to buy something," he said. He started to cross the road without looking.

Then I saw it.

A big truck. It was coming very fast. Straight towards Ken.

My heart stopped.

"KEN!" I screamed.

I did not think. I just ran.

I pushed him with all my strength.

He fell on the other side, safe.

But the truck...

Everything went black.

    I was hit by a truck.In my last moment, I thought, "Is this it? Is this the end?"Then everything went dark....I opened my eyes.My body felt so heavy. I could not move."Why is my body so heavy?"     The next morning, Ren made a decision.He would walk the kingdom. Not as a ruler on a throne, but with his own eyes. He needed to see what this kingdom had become, how his demons were living, and more importantly, how the slaves were surviving."Vane!" he called.Vane appeared in an instant, bowing low. "My King?""Lead me," Ren said. "I want to see this kingdom. I want to see how the demons live... and how the slaves live."Vane froze.     The next morning, Vane came and knocked on the door."My king, open the door," he said."Come inside, the door is always open," Ren replied.His voice was completely different.     After transforming the entire kingdom, Haru looked at the palace.Even though the kingdom was beautiful now, the palace was still dark inside.     The next morning, Vane came to Haru's room."My King, what shall we do with the 50 soldiers in the dungeon?" Vane asked.Haru's face changed.
