The Dominion was a land both ancient and new. Ancient because the sectors it composed of had their own history, some of them far older than Terra Prime's. New because each sector was brutally torn from another reality, added to The Dominion in a continuous expansion by the Trial System.

#21: I Hope You Die Alone
Adventurer was never a term that the Trial System used. That had come after the war. Trialists were the true term for the Terrans who had gained their powers through the Trial System. The real face of Trials were brutal, they tested bonds of friendship and encouraged mortals to break them for more power. The worst of the Instant Trials weren't supposed to be in the lower sectors. They always lurked in the highest areas, hidden deep away where the world couldn't judge them. Where the stakes were highest and mortals attempted to push their very limits. Sometimes, very rarely, they appeared in the lower sectors. Reminding the world that the Trial System had never cared for a peaceful world. 《You have entered an Instant Trial - Trial of the Prodigies Objective: Kill the [Vanguard] Reward: A letter grade increase in your final score for your Dominion. A unique soulbound sword.》 Rhys tried to dismiss the screen. It lingered in hi
#20: Blacklisted
"Well, shit sounds like we got a newbie team to look out for. What's your name, son?" "R- Artisan" Rhys said. Quickly remembering his adventuring name. There was an awkward pause. Patrick, their leader kept looking at him with an expression Rhys still didn't understand. Their leader flinched slightly when he turned his head towards them. Patrick quickly coughed. "Ahem, there is a den of midnight wolves roaming to the west by the flatlands, not sure what spooked them. Take care." "We will, thanks!" Lirien said, still cheerful. Once they were clear and out of earshot, Lirien muttered something he barely caught. "Trash." Rhys paused and just looked at the [Arcanist]. She looked pissed. He hadn't seen her actually angry before. "What? Why?" "Nothing." Rhys looked around at Kael for answers. He was looking pissed off too. "Lirien just called them trash right?" Kael didn
#19: I Didn't Buy My Gear
Kael asking him for a spar? Rhys's blood was already pumping from the workout, now it moved up to eleven. He wanted nothing more than to see how much of a difference there was between the two of them. "Sure, why-" "No sparring! Artisan's been practicing for two hours already!" A voice yelled from behind as once again, the [Infiltrator] got jump-scared by an [Arcanist]. It was embarrassing at this point. How the hell had she gotten behind him? Then he saw. "Fucking hell, Lirien." The [Arcanist] held herself up on the fence from the neighbour's side. She was trying to pull herself up and looked as if she was struggling to pull herself up. "Lirien, get out of there before the neighbor complains again." Kael said. She stopped pretending to struggle and did somehow flipped herself up to handstand on the fence. Her [Arcanist] robes defying physics by staying at her ankles. Then she lost her balance and fell to
#18: Would You Like To Spar?
The rest of the walk continued until they got near the edge of the leveled zone. Rhys was going through the motions at this point, emotionally exhausted and just wanting to rest. A real city was further away in the unrestricted area, where higher dominion adventurers could protect it. The trio stopped in front of a massive house, still in the leveled zone. It was practically a mansion. His eyes went wide at the implication. "You're willing to spend like fifty grand a month on rent?" It wouldn't be nearly as expensive if they were Realmers. Price-gouging adventurers was just standard practice. It was why he'd been planning on finding the cheapest inn he could find. "It's more like eighty. Rent's been going up lately." Lirien muttered in annoyance. "Eighty- I should've asked for more." "Yup," Lirien nodded her head happily. "I was willing to go up to three million if you argued for it."

#16: We Can Take Him
Lirien already had a contract prepared in simple but undeniable terms that everyone could understand. "Could I get funded for an early energy control tutor?" Rhys asked. She frowned at the request. "Why? Everyone can do that for free at dominion four." "I need the help sooner. You can get good skills for doing it earlier." That was his excuse for needing one. The reality was he wanted to go back home as soon as he could and tell his parents the good news, and brag to Milock. "It's not that beneficial, but sure, as long as you know we won't slow down." That was two of Rhys's problems sorted, assuming everything went alright in the instant Trial and he joined their team. Lirien's arguments had been immaculate, and her terms were too good. A million goddamn dollars, and that was just the signing bonus. She promised much, much more if he ended up gelling with the team and continued past the fourth dominion.
