2. Silver's POV

So his name was Lennon, he thought. He watched the Lennon boy turn towards the boy who was approaching and sighed, making an  effort to stand up on his feet.

The boy turned to glare at him, “ you’re going to stay there on the floor or what?”, the boy called Lennon spat, referring to Silver.

It was then that Silver realized that he was still sitting on the floor. He made to stand up on his feet but slipped and fell down again.

“ahh…”, he cried out in pain, this time, feeling that he might have bruised his wrist.

“ Are you okay” , someone asked in a soft voice, perhaps belonging to a girl.

Silver shook his head and opened his mouth to respond but then noticed that the question was not for him but the boy called Lennon because the person who had asked the question was not looking at him but the Lennon boy.

Lennon shrugged, “ nothing I can’t survive from. I think I sprained my ankle. Jeez, not again!”, he grimaced hopping on one leg.

‘ Hello… I’m still here, on the floor. Anybody cares to help me up,' he thought but apparently was ignored by both kids. Instead of waiting for them to regard him, he gently pulled himself to his feet.

“ yeah, I definitely bruised my wrist'',  Silver mumbled.

He sighed as he watched the smaller kid examine Lennon’s ankle. Looking at him closely, he realized that the kid was a boy and not a girl even though he looked feminine. His hair was pulled back into a pony tail just like silver’s mother had done minutes ago.

When the boy was done examining Lennon’s ankle, he stood up, “ Dad is going to be so mad at you… you just recovered from an injury and now this... What are you, a magnet for trouble?”, the smaller boy scolded as he pouted his lips,  folding his arms across his chest to look annoyed.

Silver noticed that even though he looked like he was annoyed, the small boy still cared about the other one. They were probably brothers since he had said dad.

Lennon smirked, “ no, a magnet for Danny…”, he teased, wiggling his eyebrows.

The other boy scoffed, “ don’t Danny me, I’m reporting this…” he huffed, walking away.

“ no wait!”, Lennon called holding Danny back. He blinked his eyes at Danny, “ what do you want, I’ll give you anything…” he bargained.

Danny sighed, “ nothing that you can afford Len. Let me go”, he said pulling his hands away from Lennon’s grip and walking away.

He sighed, “ Danny!...”, Lennon called but he kept on walking till he disappeared around the corner.

Lennon scoffed, “ always so dramatic…”, he mumbled. It was as if he remembered that he was not alone and that he had collided with someone else because he turned to face silver.

Silver rolled his eyes, “ sorry I hurt your ankle. I was searching for someone and didn’t intend to bump into you.” He apologized.

If there was one thing he had learnt from his mother, it was to always apologize whenever you wrong someone and if he heard correctly, the boy’s father would be angry at him and might even scold him. That was what his brother, Danny,  had said. So it was all his fault.

The boy Lennon looked at him without uttering a word. He had an air of arrogance and was probably sizing him up. Silver took that moment to study the boy before him too. He was wearing a Vikings player jersey and a blue jean with white canvas that looked way too expensive.

He noticed that the boy had black wavy hairs that almost covered his forehead and his nose was pointed. His eyes held a certain color that Silver was familiar with because that was the same color of his own eyes. The same color he had inherited from his dad, Jacob.

He watched Lennon’s lips curl up in distaste as the boy glared at him.

“ I think you should watch where you’re going to next time, so you don’t bump into random persons”, Lennon retorted.

Silver sighed, he knew he was the one that bumped into the boy but that does not mean that he should treat him like trash.

“ Like I said earlier, I’m sorry about what happened”, silver repeated.

Lennon snorted at him and at the same time, he gaze softened when someone else called his name.

“ Len…c’mon”, Danny popped out from the corridor again.

“ coming!…”, Lennon called back to Danny, giving him one final look before walking away. “ silver hair…what a show off!”, He snorted.

Silver heard his last words, but instead of retaliating , he rolled his eyes. He was always judged based on the color of his hair. People would see his hair color and assume that he had dyed it silver whereas his hair was a natural silver color.

His name was silver partly due to his hair color. At a point in pre School, he had asked his mother to change the color of his hair but she had refused, saying that he should be proud of his hair and not let anybody dictate how he was supposed to look.

She also loved her silver colored hair and He had inherited his hair color from his mother.

Speaking of mothers, he wondered where his own was. She wouldn’t just leave him there intentionally right?. Or maybe she forgot something at the stands and went to retrieve it.

Silver continued to follow the path until he saw his mother standing by the end, waiting for him. When she saw him, she threw the cigarette that she was smoking on the ground and quenched it with the sole of her boot.

Silver hated it when his mom smoked. He hated the smell of it and she had promised that she would quit smoking but apparently, that wasn’t the case now.

One look at her and he knew that she was pissed. Taking a smoke helped her to calm her nerves and he needed her to be calm and not angry.

“ what took you so long…”, she rasped.

Silver blinked. This was another side of his mother that he didn’t like. She became like that whenever she saw his father up close and he sometimes wondered why she would always come to see his games when he made her this angry.

“ I’ve been searching for you Mom, we were standing there together one minute and then the next minute, you were not there”, he answered as soft as he could.

His mother rolled her eyes, “ well, you should have searched harder. Let’s go!”, she commanded walking away.

Silver sighed, he was grateful that the social worker was coming today, if not, his mother would have vented her aggression on him as she usually does on most occasions.

They left the stadium and he entered into her beat up truck. His mother started the car and drove them out of the parking lot. He reached for the radio but stopped when his mother throw him a glare.

“ don’t…!”, she warned. She knew what he wanted to do and was not in the mood to listen to Jacob talk.

Silver sighed, no radio today then, he thought. After the games, there was always an interview with the team captains of each team and their key players. He would always listen to the interview, especially when his father was talking. He loved hearing the man talk about sports and tactics and his life.

His mind went to the two boys he met, especially the arrogant one, Lennon. Somehow, he had felt a connection to the kid when they had bumped but after his last comment, Silver noted that he was just like every other kid his age who was born with a silver spoon, arrogant and rude. Some one needed to teach the boy proper manners and how to talk and behave to strangers.

Silver didn’t blame him, he probably was brought up that way and didn’t consider others. The other boy, though he was not arrogant or rude, he was just… silver couldn’t find the word. The boy was beautiful and attractive, he had noticed and that was a word that he had never used to describe another boy before.

Just like him, he was special and was going to attract a lot’ of attention.

He was silver, yet he had been born with a plastic spoon, the irony. His name looked too rich coming from a poor scrawny kid.

He turned to look at his mother who was focused on the road and gripping the steering wheel. He prayed that she would be calm before they got home.

“ Take your eyes off me…”, his mother reprimanded, catching him staring at her.

Silver turned back to look at the looming structure that they were leaving behind, one thing was sure,  his father was in that building and he wished the man had sort him out or even spared him a glance.
