The next morning before work, Allen headed straight to his grandmother's room. She sat on the bed sipping a cup of coffee.
“Allen my dear, what brings you here in a rush,” she managed to say, immediately dropping the cup on the table. “Grandma, I have a request to make,” he said calmly as he rushed to her side. “I want a homecoming party. I think it's time everybody knows the silvercrest heir has returned.” Madam Ophelia almost bursted out with excitement. “I thought you’d never ask,” she said with a big smile plastered on her face. “Call the workers, let them start preparations immediately. Your presence here is a thing of celebration my dear,” her voice echoed in the room as she pulled him to her warm embrace. “Can we make it in a few weeks grandma,” Allen said, calmly. Her eyes lit up with even more excitement. It was the first time he was addressing her as grandma. “Anytime you want it my dear. That is enough time for me to contact the best planners from around the country.” If there was anything Allen noticed in his short stay there, it was that madam Ophelia loved luxury and glamour. A smile crept to his lips. A luxury party in a few weeks for him alone and he wanted everybody to be there. Without wasting much time, he bade her goodbye and headed to work. For his first day officially, he dressed elegantly in expensive clothes and shoes. The thought of starting working fully as the silvercrest heir overwhelmed him. He reminisced about his past as a common cleaner who became an heir with a big smile on his face. He arrived at the Silvercrest headquarters soon enough, but the environment was unusually quiet and dull with no worker in sight. Allen was confused because even the lights were off. But as he walked further inside, he located a light switch and switched it on. “Surprise!!!” voices echoed across the room. Allen was confused, trying to understand what was going on when Louisa walked in with a cake. “Sorry about that sir but we decided to surprise you on your first day,” she said with a chuckle. His eyes landed on the banner—happy first day at work hanging on the wall. Allen couldn't hide his smile anymore. He had never been this loved and appreciated. “Thank you all so much. I didn't expect this,” he blurted out, still wondering if it was a dream. At that moment, he vowed to make sure the workers were comfortable under him. Soon, they all dispersed to continue their work while Allen left for his office. Calloway had shown him how everything worked so he didn't have any problem going through his day. Looking at his computer, he beamed seeing the message on it. “Congratulations, you just secured a hundred million dollar deal with hayfield industries." Allen couldn't believe it. It was his first challenge and he did it. His grandmother would be really impressed. To top it all, a meeting has been fixed for him and the hayfield industries owner in a few days! He was still rejoicing when Louisa walked in wearing a smile. “Sir Allen, you’ve been working since morning and I’m sure you didn't have a lunch break so I brought you something,” Louisa said, placing a package on the table. The sweet aroma of the food couldn't allow Allen to concentrate. “Besides, we heard you secured a contract with hayfield industries. That's something we’ve been trying to do for over a year now,” she added. Being complimented was nice but being complimented by Louisa felt even nicer. At that point, she was a beautiful distraction he was ready to bask in. But he was even more surprised that news could spread so fast. “This is just one of many more to come,” he said, chuckling. “Now, let me dig in. I am starving.” Louisa watched him eat as he gobbled the food quickly. Soon, he was done eating and she excused him while he continued with his work. A few hours later, the office was empty as all workers had already returned to their homes. He was so engrossed in his work that he forgot to check the time. “Darn it!” He exclaimed when his eyes landed on his watch. It was 7pm in the evening but Allen had not had any rest. He quickly closed his laptop and took his bag to head home when he noticed light from one of the offices. He wondered who could still be in late at that time. He walked slowly in, only to meet Louisa seriously engaged in her laptop. “Louisa, why are you not home yet?” Allen asked, surprised. “Sir Allen, it's important that I finish this paperwork,” she said calmly with a smile. She was not only beautiful but hardworking too. Though Allen still thought she needed rest. “I can take you home if you don't mind,” he offered. “No sir, you don’t have to worry about that,” her soft voice rang in his ears. “But I insist,” Allen pushed. Louisa looked up like she was thinking for a bit then with a deep sigh she spoke. “Alright, I’ll go with you.” Allen was a bit excited as they both hurried to his car. To be a gentleman, he gently opened the door for her as she entered. “Just direct me to where you live and we'll be there in a jiffy,” Allen said and she nodded. It was a smooth ride as Louisa entertained him with stories ranging from the office to herself. Allen was intrigued and hooked. He even wished the journey to her house was a bit far so he wouldn't miss her presence. But unfortunately, they got to her place quicker than he expected. “I live over there,” Louisa pointed to a black gate and Allen parked right on front. They bade each other goodbye but as Allen was about to leave, he noticed something. A man emerged from the shadows.

"You're a fine young man, Allen. So respectful and I know our collaboration would only bring good results," the old man's coarse voice rang in the hall. "I've heard how much of a fast learner you are. You've achieved so much in such a short time. " "Thank you, Mr Hayfield," Allen said bowing, with his lips curved into a smile. "I also come bearing gifts, both sent by my grandmother," he added bringing the packages out of their box. Mr Hayfield's eyes widened the moment he saw the bottle. "My favorite wine? I knew I didn't make a mistake agreeing to this collaboration," his face lit up with excitement. "And for miss Olivia, a jade bracelet," Allen said, handing the second box to Olivia. She beamed as she collected the box. "I—I can't believe it. This isn't any jade, it's the imperial seal jade!" Allen didn't e

Allen stared up at the man in front of him. He wasn't wrong. He had heard too much about him in a few hours. "You're Drey Friedrich," Allen blurted out adjusting his clothes with his head held high. "The man whose name is on every lip." Drey's eyebrows furrowed, his breath rasp in the silence. Allen's was rough, eyes widened with an awkward tension between them. "I believe you know what I am here for," Drey said, walking closer. Allen's mind rang, thinking of a thousand things. "You're my business rival and I don't take it easy on my rivals. To me, the game is not fair but forcefully won. Which means, I will do everything to win this so watch your back!" Drey warned. "Are you threatening me?" Allen growled. "Will you really stoop so low?" "I am Drey Friedrich, everyone knows what I am capable of," Drey said with a smirk. Allen's mind traced back to what those men said when they were having dinner. He was starting to think Drey was as dangerous as they said he was. "So wh

"Meeting, 9am at the Hayfield residence" was what was on the paper. "Phew," a relieved sigh escaped his lips. It was nothing much, just a letter stating the address and the contents of the meeting. After Philip left, Jose continued. "I heard about Miss Olivia of Hayfield industries. She's the latest catch now. Hot, beautiful and every man's dream," Jose said with a chuckle. "I can't believe you're meeting her in person." Just then, Louisa walked in with a package in her hand. "I noticed you didn't leave the office again so I brought food for you," she said, with a smile. "Oh Louisa you shouldn't have. Jose and I were just about to grab lunch," Allen said smiling, his eyes locked deeply on Louisa. Jose noticed something between the two and cleared his throat. "Eh-em? Am I interrupting something here?" "Sir, sir! we have a problem" Philip said, running back in with a magazine in hand. Allen, Louisa and Jose all paid attention to him. "Drey Friedrich is back and he is a

Allen boiled in anger seeing her face again. Memories of her tormenting him flooded his mind. He had plans to make her pay but he had to play along as master Herondale for the moment. “Madam Nora, your daughter's wedding is the best I have ever attended but I must ask what happened to her ex-husband?” Allen blew the question too early. “That poor fool?” She raged. “He brought my daughter nothing but suffering and I’m glad he is out of her life for good!” The look of disgust on her face when she mentioned Allen irked him.
