CHAPTER 14: Meeting Olivia
Allen stared up at the man in front of him. He wasn't wrong. He had heard too much about him in a few hours. "You're Drey Friedrich," Allen blurted out adjusting his clothes with his head held high. "The man whose name is on every lip." Drey's eyebrows furrowed, his breath rasp in the silence. Allen's was rough, eyes widened with an awkward tension between them. "I believe you know what I am here for," Drey said, walking closer. Allen's mind rang, thinking of a thousand things. "You're my business rival and I don't take it easy on my rivals. To me, the game is not fair but forcefully won. Which means, I will do everything to win this so watch your back!" Drey warned. "Are you threatening me?" Allen growled. "Meeting, 9am at the Hayfield residence" was what was on the paper. "Phew," a relieved sigh escaped his lips. It was nothing much, just a letter stating the address and the contents of the meeting. After Philip left, Jose continued. "I heard about Miss Olivia of Hayfield industries. She's the lastest catch now. Hot, beautiful and every man's dream," Jose said with a chuckle. "I can't believe you're meeting her in person." Just then, Louisa walked in with a package in her hand. "I noticed you didn't leave the office again so I brought food for you," she said, with a smile. "Oh Louisa you shouldn't have. He couldn't see the man’s face properly but he perceived danger. However, Louisa seemed to know this man. The man approached Louisa and for a moment, it seemed like they were in a heated argument. Allen watched closely but the next thing shocked him. The man slapped Louisa, making her lose balance. Allen couldn't believe it, he stormed out of his car heading for where they were standing. “You must be shameless to hit a woman!” Allen exclaimed, grabbing the man’s collar. “How dare you!” Louisa sobbed seriously at the other side. The man who was identified as Dan perceived Allen to be a rich man and immediately knew he was in so much trouble but stood his ground. “It's none of your business what I do to her,” Dan blurted out, holding Allen's collar. “Who is this, Louisa? The new man you're sleeping with?!” Allen was infuriated and gave him a resounding punch and he fell to the ground. Dan groaned in pain. The next morning before work, Allen headed straight to his grandmother's room. She sat on the bed sipping a cup of coffee. “Allen my dear, what brings you here in a rush,” she managed to say, immediately dropping the cup on the table. “Grandma, I have a request to make,” he said calmly as he rushed to her side. “I want a homecoming party. I think it's time everybody knows the silvercrest heir has returned.” Madam Ophelia almost bursted out with excitement. “I thought you’d never ask,” she said with a big smile plastered on her face. “Call the workers, let them start preparations immediately. The couples exchanged rings and vows and were officially married. It happened all so fast. Allen sat angrily, observing the celebration when a familiar voice called from behind. “Master Herondale!” He turned quickly, only to see his former mother-in-law beaming like she had never done before. “We are so happy to have you here,” she exclaimed. Allen boiled in anger seeing her face again. Memories of her tormenting him flooded his mind. He had plans to make her pay but he had to play along as master Herondale for the moment. “Madam Nora, your daughter's wedding is the best I have ever attended but I must ask what happened to her ex-husband?” Allen blew the question too early. “That poor fool?” She raged. “He brought my daughter nothing but suffering and I’m glad he is out of her life for good!” The look of disgust on her face when she mentioned Allen irked him. Allen's eyes widened as she pushed the door open. It wasn't just beautiful, it was large and extremely comfortable like a suite. “You…you mean this is my office?” He said, unable to believe what was in front of him. He rushed in, making himself comfortable on the chair. A card with his name was well–placed on the table—Allen Herondale(C.E.O). “If you need anything sir, I’m just a call away,” Louisa said, stepping out. Allen almost forgot she was there. As she left, his mind drifted back to her. It felt like his liking for her was growing by the minute. She was calm, helpful and kind to him even when everyone thought he was poor. But then, the thoughts of the company swam in. If he had to be the president, there had to be new rules starting from today. After chilling in his office for some hours, Allen was ready to retire for the day.
