Being good at tracking the smell of flesh, the three trolls that had come out to hunt and were making the noise which they heard came to the location where they had at this time covered themselves with leaves and grasses to avoid being seen.

They were certain of the spell they were perceiving but they could not sight them, yet they refused to leave that location until they'd found what had drawn them to that place.

While the trolls persisted in not leaving the location, a moose ran past the place and the trolls were quick to catch it before running past them as they concluded it to be the flesh that had drawn them to that place. So they had to leave with the animal they had caught even though one of them was having the feeling that what they had caught was not what attracted them. It could still smell flesh, despite the one they were with.

But its company called it that they should leave since they had gotten a meal for themselves. It did not mean that they were not getting the smell like the one that wanted to stay, but they believed that whatever was attracting them could be left for another day.

After they were sure that the trolls had left, they came out from underneath the grasses and Eric asked Zach again. "How many of these mythical monsters are here in this world?"

Zach did not answer that question because he did not understand what he meant by calling the creatures mystical ones. Instead he said to his son. "Harris, you should close your eyes and have a sleep. Tomorrow is another day."

Eric was able to understand why Zachary did not answer his question, so since he said they will be taking a break while they wait for the sky to brighten up for them to continue the journey, he did not ask another after all Zach was taking him to the people that will answer all his questions.

That night passed, and they were not able to get any sleep, even young Harris. It was impossible for any of them to sleep knowing fully well that they were exposed and could be attacked by a monster at any given time.

At first light, they resume their journey to the place which only Zach knew.

After a long day, they came before a big and beautiful castle. Eric Claus could see multitudes of soldiers patrolling the entire castle and from his discretion based on movies which he had seen, he knew what that place could be but he asked questions to be sure. "I guess this is the dwelling of your king?"

Zachary was amazed to see that he knew what that place was even before he told him what it was. "Yes. You have a sharp brain."

"Wow!" Harris exclaimed, "So I will finally get to meet the king?"

"Yes Harris." Zach answered his son and then to Eric. "Welcome to Raychester castle. The residing residence of King Luca Cole."

As they approached the gate of the castle, the soldiers on patrol stopped them, as the one in charge asked. "Who are you and what brings you here?"

"I'm Zachary Hawkins, and I'm here to see my lord, king Luca Cole."

At the mentioning of his name, the soldiers paid homage to him for he was a great and well recognized soldier of the Putrid squad during his time.

"We are sorry, Sir." The soldiers in charge apologize as they clear his paths, allowing him through the gate into the castle.

One of the patrol officers went with them to bring them to the king who they had come to meet.

While they walked through the walkway, Eric wondered why they had paid so much respect to Zach but with the way the soldiers in the environment were staring at them, he could not ask Zach the question that was registered in his heart.

As they came to the court of the king, Luca Cole was seated with two armed men discussing something when the soldier that had led them said. "Apologies, your majesty, you have a visitor."

Then Luca looked towards the entrance of the court where the soldier stood and asked. "Who is it?"

"Zachary hawkins."

The king was happy to hear that name, so he said with joy. "Bring him in."

So Zachary, Eric and Harris were brought into the king's court as they bowed to him, paying homage.

"What brings the great Zachary Hawkins to my court?" King Luca asked as the two men with him also looked at Zach with a smile on their faces.

The two men there were close friends to Zach when he was still in the military and Zach was able to recognize them as they also did to him. One was Aaron Gordon and the other was Morgan Elliot.

Then Zach drew near to them as they all exchanged greetings of hand shakes before he began by introducing the person with him to them. "Meet Eric Claus, a new friend of mine." There was no need to introduce his son since they could by their discretion know that he was the young lad that had made him resign from the army.

As they heard the name Eric Claus, they were filled with surprise and the shock which the mention of the name gave to them was visible in their appearance and action.

It was so obvious that even Eric noticed it and knew that something was wrong, one that he had to know before any other thing was said or done, so he waited to be given the opportunity to speak. He was putting in the things he had learnt from movies that a commoner is not supposed to speak before a king unless he was asked to.

The King looked at Aaron and Morgan with this strange look, they were short of words to say.

The surprise on the faces was not hidden from Zach, so he asked to know why they were filled with shock. "What is the problem, your majesty?"

Luca Cole did not answer that question, instead he looked at Eric as he asked for confirmation. "What did you say your name is again?"

Now he was given the opportunity to speak and he began by answering the question asked. "My name is Eric Claus. I'm from New York and I need to go back home."

The King and the men with him were now convinced the most about something that Eric and Zach did not know about. The convention was as a result of his naming the place where he was from. "We should call the seer." Luca said.

Morgan stood instantly to go and get the seer. While Aaron said to them. "Please have a seat while we wait for the seer to arrive."

They had to take a seat as Eric looked at Zach in confusion. Zachary was also as confused as Eric and so was Harris. Thus their eyes were focused on the King and Aaron as they expected them to say something while waiting for the seer to come. But neither King Luca Cole nor Aaron Gordon spoke a word even when they knew that Eric and Zach were expecting them to say something. They chose to stare at Eric while they waited patiently for the seer to come.

On Eric's side, he didn't expect that question to be asked, but since it was asked, he could not answer it, so he simply said. "Don't worry baby, everything will be fine. The police are there to protect you and your aunt Lauren." "From who?" She asked again. "From some very bad people." He answered, in order for her to ask another question, he added. "Can you give your aunt the phone?" "Eric, what's going on?" Lauren asked as soon as he received the phone from Jodie. "I promise I'll explain everything to you when I am bad. Just be rest assured that I am not the one they are protecting you from. It's very complicated but I promise you will understand after I've explained everything to you." "Okay bro." "Please be safe and keep Jodie safe." Eric pleaded as they said goodbye. **** Towards evening the next day, Eric Claus and Chase Stevens were called to the police station by the detective and on their arrival, the detective took them to meet a new prisoner under their custody. It took almost over five hours before the detective in charge of interrogating the suspect came out to meet Eric Claus and Chase Stevens in the police station. "I thought you were asked to leave?" he asked, to my surprise. His question called their attention, so they looked up in shock but without fear since they had committed no offense by staying. "Well," Chase began as he searched for the right words to say that would make the detective understand their reason for not going home as they were asked to. "We just couldn't leave." he said, still unable to find the best words. Eric had to help him out at this point even though he was not totally in support of them staying there for that long. "Were you people able to force the truth out of him? I just can't go home knowing that someone wants me dead and probably why?" That was a good reason to defend and justify their refusal to leave the station and the detective understood quite well so he did have to press further. "Well, you two

“Just before you woke up,” Chase began, “He told Lauren and I that he would be removing you from life support because his test showed that you would never wake up again. But upon coming to see you in the ward, we found you awake, that is to say he has found out that you would be waking up any time soon so he wanted to prevent it from happening. When I asked him how it was possible that someone who he presumed to never wake up again was awake and sound, he said he didn’t know and would do some research that would explain it scientifically. He still has not given any response with the claim that he was still doing his research with some of his colleagues.” Now Eric was getting a clear understanding of something that he never put into consideration before now. It was now clear to him why he had to leave the world of Palind, letting them complete the fight which was supposed to be concluded before his departure. So he had no reason to doubt the words and suspicions of Chase. “In that cas

The doctor ran another test on Eric Claus early the next morning to confirm whether he was fully fit to leave the hospital and still his results were positive that he did not see any other reason to keep Eric there in the hospital. So he had to break the good news about his discharge so he could prepare to go home. Towards the evening hours of the day, Chase was there with Lauren and Jodie to pick Eric from the hospital and take home. While Lauren and Jodie were with Eric in the room putting together his stuff for departure, Chase went to see the doctor. After a knock on the office door, he was asked to come in and the doctor was instantly eclipsed with shock. Immediately he saw that it was Chase who had come to his office. He knew they were done with all formalities already and he shouldn’t be there again. “Oh, Mr. Chase, is it you again? Hope all is well?” the doctor said while trying to hide his freight. “Yes,” Chase walked up to the desk and with an eye gesture he asked if he c

When he came into the room Eric was still gusting and laughing with his sister and daughter, Chase did not intend to disrupt that moment knowing how much such a moment felt for the family. “I am happy to see such smiles on your faces,” Chase said, “Permission to share at this moment?” “Sure you are free.” Eric answered with gladness. The fun moment lasted for a couple of hours, until it was getting late, so Lauren had to take Jodie home since they came right from school. “Jodie, I guess we should get going now.” “No, I want to spend more time with my dad.” Jodie refused because she didn’t want that moment to end. She was also scared that her father would go into a coma again. “Come on… you will have the time you want with him, he is not going anywhere. Besides, you haven’t gotten home since you closed from school today and you still have homework and school tomorrow.” Lauren gave her some reasons why they have to go home. Eric was quite happy to hear that Jodie has been going to

Due to the looks on both Lauren and Chase’s face, the doctor could tell what they were thinking but he could not concur with it. “That is not possible.” He opened the door and to his greatest surprise, it was exactly as he had read from the faces of Chase and Lauren, so he froze at the entrance. Seeing the manner in which the doctor became static, Chase and Lauren looked into the room, lo and behold, it was Eric Claus awake and talking to his daughter Jodie Eric. They too could not move for a moment and were short of words to say until Jodie saw them standing static at the door post and said. “Aunt Lauren, look, dad is awake.” “Of course he is…” Lauren replied as he slowly took some steps closer to the bed Eric was lying on. Eric then turned to the door and saw both his boss and the doctor. He was surprised to see Chase Stevens there instead of being in the company. He knew quite well what happened to him and did not need much explanation from them, he only asked one question perta
