He had always known Jack to be good at dragging his offenders in any way he could. He was glad the job was going to take him out of sight for some time until resumption.

Stepping out of a grocery store from where he went to deliver his goods for the day, he, mounted his scooter with the freedom of a bird and didn’t realize some thugs had been trailing him.

Soon, he could be seen gliding down the hill of the road with a steady speed. Unaware of the disaster that hooted behind him, he wanted to ride across the road when the saloon car doubled crossed him, almost hitting him.

Three, heavily-chested men with hostile faces and folded fist alighted from the car and pounced towards him immediately. His face brewed concern and worry as he dared to turn his bike and ride away but it was too late.

The other dived at him and grabbed his hands. Ethan had always been able to defend himself so with a fist on the jaw of one, he earned a freedom, and the other pounced in his way and headbutt him.

He swerved out of target and punched his rival in the belly, letting him stagger to a corner. The moment he wanted to run away, the other tossed a kick at his wrist and he slumped and tolled on the floor.

The other two guys were nursing their bodies now and seeing Ethan roll on the floor pumped vigor into them and they rose with grinned faces and advanced towards him.

“Motherfucker!” one cursed through clenched teeth, “So you have the guts to fight us, huh?” he snapped and grabbed Ethan, seizing his hands behind and turning him to the other guys to use him as their punching bag.

“Ah! Ah! Ah!

They pummeled his belly, his chest and his thighs and the other head butt him, with a radical slap that left him yelling can calling for help. Letting him fall on the floor now, the other still unsatisfied, gave him a resounding kick on the limbs which left him screaming at the top of his voice.

“My limbs! My limbs!”

“Motherfucker,” they cursed and the other spat at his face, “You think you are stubborn, eh. In your next life, if you ever see Jack, you will bow. You are lucky we are not with our guns. Watch your back, pauper, watch your back.”

Pa! Po! Pa! they punched him for one very last time and rushed to their car and zoomed off.

Ethan wriggled on the road, his mouth gaping in pain as he raised his limbs and nursed them. He dared to rise but he couldn’t. Their purpose of hurting his limbs was to have him crippled. He knew it but with his lips smacked and a little effort, he could finally rise and leap.

He thought he had escaped them. He was almost beating them up but he didn’t calculate his combat very well.

“Oh god!” he clenched his jaw and tossed his head, with his sweating face, he raised his gaze to the sky in search for any possible help.

He was on the high way and the cars zooming past didn’t even care to help in any way. He climbed his scooter but his legs strained with uneasiness making him unable to ride the scooter. He tossed his head in disinterest and resorted to leap down the road a little bit perhaps he may regain strength on that limb.

“Oh god!” he sore, “You won’t escape this, I promise you,” he snarled as he leaped gently down the road, with his hands hugely supporting his waist and thighs. “You sent thugs to beat me up, no problems,” he sighed and gaped when the pain shot through his limbs.

He just had to find a way to return to M And M and report about the incident, so he could be given some time to heal. He had thought about reporting to the police but then Jack ‘s parents were rich and he lacked the money to fight them in any way deem fit.

Ethan was suffused with thought, very deep thought that he never saw the oncoming convoy of Rolls Royce.

But before he could realize it, he was already on the ground, his body trembling, and his eyes blurry and struggling for sight.

“You just hit somebody! What the hell is wrong with you? Can’t you drive huh?”

The thick alluring voice of the billionaire beamed at his driver as he hurriedly alighted from his rolls Royce and rushed toward Ethan who was till convulsing on the road.

Sooner than he had alighted his guards, well-suited, huge bogey men alighted too and rushed to assist him.

“Hurry, hurry, hurry, he is still alive, put him in the car!” the billionaire ordered his guards as they did his bidding.

The billionaire was Rex Arthur, CEO Arthur Empire, the owners of Arthur Bank, one of the prestigious and most popular banks in New York. Recently Forbes had estimated him to be worth two hundred billion dollars.

As they drove down to the hospital, Arthur cast a striking glance at Ethan and the necklace on his neck caught his attention; he winced, memory was beginning to hit him now.

He gaped at the necklace and dared to snap out of it but memory replayed now.

“This necklace… I know this necklace,” he sounded in his mind as he gave an inspective gaze at Ethan, who was a bit unconscious in the back seat.
