“You are welcome to M and M Delivery Company,”
The short chubby man across the desk intoned to Ethan as he stood with his hands behind,
“As its name stands, your duty is to deliver customers’ goods to their door step, OK. Your pay is two hundred dollars per weeks.”
Ethan grinned at the mention of the pay. He least expected it but he had no choice than to clench on the job and get his mind busy in the six months definite suspension.
The man handed him his appointment letter and he gazed at it with a sheer smile before tossing his head.
“Thank you very much, sir,” he added, “I am very grateful. I promise to deliver my best to this job.”
The man showed him to the scooter with which he would use to deliver their jobs, and he mounted it and rode off to deliver his first goods for the day. Although he had plans of focusing on his educations upon resumption, he wouldn’t mind to keep the job.
Two hundred dollars per week was a peanut but it was worth more than the stress and bully of running errands on campus.
“How long are you going to saving two hundred dollars to be rich?”
A contradictory thought hung in his mind as he rode off. Desperation had piled up in his mind and his enthusiasm for wealth was being fueled by his heartbreak, and ruin brought upon him by Ella and Jack.
While on his way, he could see two figures waving at him across the road and he halted and rode to their side. They were Manuel and Allen, in their sportswear and their back pack behind their shoulders.
“What’s up Ethan? How has life been with you?” Allen asked, stealing a glance at his worn shoes, which he wondered he would ever change for something nice, “I guess you got a new job at M and M, I know the delivery company. They pay peanuts.”
Allen had always been faster than his shadows. Ethan shrugged and winced with a faced smile that hid his resentment.
“Well, they may not be paying peanuts but I am OK with it, at least it can put food on my table, and I will not have to brood over the heartbreak,” Ethan replied with a deep weird smile on his face. “Besides, I plan to retain the job even after resuming school.”
“This job?” Manuel retorted, “Come on, man, you don’t have to always show you are poor. You can get a better job than a delivery job. You don’t have to give room for Ella and Jack to mock you. You can get a job at a construction company. Their pay is good and there is s future there.”
Ethan shrugged, his confidence being accompanied with a contagious smile, “I applied at many construction companies but they rejected me. Most of them demanded my parents as guarantors and you know I am an orphan.”
Manuel and Allen lowered their gazes and tossed their heads pitiably.
“So what is happening in school?” Ethan asked anxiously, his eyes suffused with nervousness, “It’s been two weeks I left.”
“Yeah, a lot has happened, man,” Allen replied, “The bout you had with Jack has stirred a lot of chaos and just a few days ago, his rich parents came and they are threatening to sue you forever laying your filthy hands on their son.”
Ethan grimaced and cast a striking glance at Manuel for more confirmation.
“Yeah that is true, Ethan,” he added, “I don’t know how far they are going to drag you, but from the looks on their faces, I knew his parents were out to put you in the box you belong.”
“What rubbish box!” Ethan fumed, his fist clenching, “If I lay my hands on his ass again I will reshape it with punches. He is a fool!” he gnashed his teeth, “I knew this was going to happen because the school is taking side with them. But they know the truth.”
“If only you were rich or had rich parents,” Manuel groaned, “Jack’s father has been financially supportive to the school, and I heard he played a major role in repaying the school’s debt in the Arthur Bank.”
“Yeah, yeah, I heard about that too. You know the school has been indebted to the popular Arthur Bank and his father played a huge role in setting off their debts. I guess that is why they honor him so well. Hmmm,” he hummed with a clap, “money is talking.”
Ethan sighed and lowered his gaze.
“Allen and I have been thinking about something,” Manuel suggested in a low permissive tone.
Ethan winced. “And what is that if I may ask?” he batted his eyes in anxiety as Manuel hesitated to speak.
“I don’t want you to pick offense but that is the best option right now for you to get back to school,” Allen added as if they had planned what to tell him, “Isn’t it better you swallow your pride and apologize to jack so he can forgive you and ensure you get back to school as….”
“Hey hey,” Ethan roared, his face flushed with redness, “Keep shut!” he beamed. “What the hell is wrong with you? Why would suggest such a thing. I, Ethan to apologize to a covetous boy that snatched my girlfriend from me, huh? Everyone knows Ella has been my girlfriend. It is crazy telling me to apologize to the asshole despite what he did.”
“Now you are on suspension and his parents are threatening to take legal actions. You are going to lose, and you don’t even have one quarter of the money they have.”
“Everything boils down to money OK, I know but I am never going to apologize to Jack. Let his parents bring it on, I will be waiting. And so fucking what is they are rich. Money this , money that.”
Allen added, “Because it rules the world, man. “I guess you don’t know who Jack’s parents are in this New York.”
“I don’t care who they are. I am going to work hard and make my money,” Ethan snarled, the veins on his forehead pumping, “Whatever it is …”
He had barely finished his statement when a Range Rover SUV screeched and halted across them. Their eyes fell on the doors which opened with a radical force and Jack and Ella alighted, kissing and smooching each other.
“Talk of the devil,” Allen murmured and swallowed hard.
“Damn!” Manuel mumbled, “They are always kissing, getting us in the mood.”
Ethan shot a frown at them and threw away his gaze at once; he knew they intentionally did it just to make him burn the more. He forced a hard smile and shook hands with Allen and Manuel.
“I got to go, guys,” he turned on his scooter and rode away.

You have every right to remain silent else whatever you do or say will be used against you in the court of law!” the senior police took out a piece of handcuff and wanted to grip on his wrist.“I beg your pardon!” Jack stood in their way, stopping them from making any further move. “You can’t just barge into our mansion and place an arrest on my father. What did he do? I guess you know whose house you are in. This is Rex Arthur and I am his son…”“We know you, Jack. Your father has a question to answer to some allegations leveled against him. If you want to know his offense you may have to come with us to the station!” The senior police snapped. “I guess you don’t want to resist arrest, so lea

“I can’t believe you are here for another loan, Jack. What do you need 3 million dollars for? You are yet to pay up the ones you collected and you are demanding another.”The bank manager of Fortune Bank reprimanded Jack as he sat across the desk. After thinking out of the box, Jack’s thought fell back on Fortune Bank, where he had been accessing cheque to fund his luxurious lifestyle.“I have told you there is no cause for alarm and besides, you still have the documents to my forty acres of land. And did you just ask me what I need the money for?” Jack tossed his head, “I don’t need to give you updates about my status. You should know me. I spend more than 3 million in a few weeks. I have tasted money so you shouldn’t be asking me that.”“If you are just going to waste it, then there is no need giving you because it is baseless. “Thank you so much Jack for your benevolence to the widow of Max,” Dr. Greg appreciated Jack while they sat in his office. “You and Ethan have been supporting the school and penning our name in a good light. We can’t thank you enough.”Jack let a weird smile. “As you can see I gave more money than him so there is no comparison. I made money before Ethan, and I supported and have supported the school more than him, so giving is no big deal to me. I will even do more. It is quite a pity that Mr. Max had to die untimely. It is not late to round up the serial killer, and I will see to it.” he tossed his head. “What a wicked world we live in.”Greg tossed his head, “Yeah I heard about your promise of 3 million to the police department if they should impound the culprit.” The VC stretched to have a warm handshake with him, “This is superb.
