Once Ethan opened his eyes he realized they weren’t blurry anymore and he could see clearly now. Standing around him were the tall, ever-smiling doctor and Rex Arthur, and three of his personal guards. They stood arms folded hands on the waist, their gaze locked to his.
“Oh god,” he nagged, his breath unsteady, “Where am I?” he sighed and dared to rise and his limbs hurt, limiting him to lie back.
“Hold on, dear,” the doctor mumbled and leaned toward him to check his pulses and heartbeat, “You are strong now. Congratulations,” he turned to Rex, whose face still housed scare and uncertainty about Ethan’s fate. “He is conscious and strong now.”
“But how is he?” Rex asked, his brow ridged anxiously.
“Oh my limbs!” Ethan snapped, his face grinning hugely as he dared to touch his limbs and then raised his gaze on Rex once more, as if to ask him what had happened to him.
“He still complains about his limbs,” Rex said to the doctor who tossed his head in agreement. “What could probably have happened to him. What remedy could you proffer? I want him properly healed.”
Meanwhile, at the time Rex spoke, his gaze was fixed on the intricate necklace on the neck of Ethan. He had been wondering how he got that necklace, that necklace fetched a lot of memory now.
“You must know his broken limbs is not as a result of the accident. In fact, the accident didn’t have any much impact on him. He already had the broken limbs before the accident.” The doctor revealed.
And Ethan tossed his gaze away, his jaw sagged in thought as he recalled the thugs pounding him to a pup. He had already decided not to get anyone involved in his feud with Jack but the doctor insisted to know what happened to him prior to the accident.
He tightened his lips and wouldn’t utter a word.
“How did you get a broken limb,” Rex pestered him and sat down to hold his arm, “I know I hit you but glad it didn’t cause you any harm. I really need to know what happened to you so I can know what other way I can help you. What happened? I guess I saw you leaping.”
His eyes were still on the intricate gold necklace. He knew that necklace so much and to an extent, someone like Ethan couldn’t afford that piece. If there was something he wanted to know, it was that necklace hanging on his neck.
The doctor forced a smile and left after assuring to render any possible help if they needed it.
“Thank you so much, doctor,” Rex appreciated him with a warm handshake. Now with Rex and his guards, Ethan had already perceived he was with a moneybag but he couldn’t tell who exactly he was. Tossing caution to the wind, he narrated what actually transpired between him and Jack and how he felt betrayed by his girlfriend.
Like an ocean making toward the pebbled shore, Rex’s interest in Ethan grew.
“What is your name?” he asked, his eyes still staring at the necklace.
“Ethan,” he coughed and added, “Ethan Moneyfield.”
“I am Rex Arthur of the Arthur Empire, Ceo Arthur Bank,”
At the mention of that Ethan readjusted himself and cast an inspective gaze at the famous money bag he had been with. He stared at him from head to expensive, classic shoes and up to his cute, healthy face that exuded wealth.
“Nice to meet you, sir,” he winced and raised a thick brow, feeling a bit terrified by his presence.
“Keep calm, OK. I really want to know who gave you that necklace on your neck.”
Ethan hesitated as he stroked the piece, his thought pacing, mind thudding with the past. He winked and hesitated a little more.
“Talk to me, who gave it to you?”
“My mother,” he replied coldly, his tone seemed tensed but pensive and calculative, “She gave it to me.”
“Your mother?” Rex retorted, his mind burrowing deep into the past twenty years of his life. “Where is your mother?”
“She is dead and gone,” he replied again, his brow thickening with anxiety and shades of scare, hastily he sat up, and locked gaze with his beholder, “Why are you asking me these questions?”
Rex ignored his question and leaned forward to stroke the necklace, and instantly his recognition struck.
“I thought as much yes, this is it,” he said inwardly and he was thrown back memory lane to twenty years ago when he gifted Isabella that necklace.
Isabella was his beloved wife but unfortunately, Isabella was barren at the time, his parents never hid their contempt for her. Once she overheard Rex’s parents advising their son to take another wife and divorce her, she took a hard decision that ruined everything.
One day Rex returned home to find out Isabella had vacated his life without any short notice. He searched for her all over town but it was to no avail. Over the years he had been in search of that long-haired, conical-eyed Isabella, the wife of his youth but there seemed to be a dark end. Because of the love he had for her, he had vowed never to marry another.
“But she left barren,” Rex thought, “This can’t be my son,” he doubted to clarify his doubt, he took out his phone and showed him the photo. “Is this your mother?”
“Yeah, yeah, yeah, that is my mother!” Ethan exploded, his eyes red with sheer love, “How did you know her? Who are you?” he asked right now with so much anxiety. “Have you met her before?”
“Who is your father?” Rex asked instead squinting at him trying to strike the resemblance; actually Ethan resembled Isabella.
“She never told me,” Ethan snorted heavily and told him several times he had demanded to know who his father was but it often sprouted dark memory and pain in her.
Rex lowered his gaze and tossed his head in wonder. He held Ethan’s hands, and gazed upon him with rare inspection.
For a moment he thought Isabella remarried after she left him so this cute-looking boy could be another’s man’s son.
“Excuse me sir but why are you staring at me like that?” Ethan was thrown off guard.
Rex left him, taking the bold step to run an instant DNA text on him to know if actually Ethan was his child. He was very sure of Isabella’s barrenness.
In less than twenty four hours the DNA was done and the doctor invited Rex to his office.
“Rex Arthur, I got good news for you. That boy is your son, your blood. The DNA is 100% positive.”
“Jesus!”

Indebted To The Rejected
“On a six months suspension after the heartbreak and bullying?” Rex groaned and dimmed his gaze in the void. He walked to Ethan and patted his shoulders, “I am sorry for the inhuman treatment and dishonor you have suffered all these years by misplaced identity.”Ethan forced a smile, and tossed his head as the last event of tragedy replayed in his mind. Two names still stood in his mind, Jack and Ella.“That school is still indebted to me,” Rex revealed, “Yeah, after what I did for them they owe you absolute loyalty. The school is still on mortgage in our bank. I loaned them ninety percent of the funds used in building it and they are still indebted to us.”“Really?” Ethan wondered. The news that had always made the round was that jacks’; father sponsored the school in their building project.
