Aiden's heart kept beating in his chest as he wondered if all of this could be real because just moments ago he was a weakling, orphan boy and was not sure about his purpose in life and now out of nowhere he has been given stats like he was a character in a video game and equipment he had never heard of such as speed, mana, abilities, and equipment.

Aiden kept trying hard to process all of it but none of it made sense as he wondered why the system chose him, and was surprised because he had always been an ordinary boy struggling with life challenges but not someone with super abilities or hidden powers.

Aiden stood up slowly as he tried to test if the system screen would appear back but nothing happened. He kept wondering if there was something inside him that he didn't know about or was there some secret tied to his past or his grandmother's death.

Aiden began to breathe heavily as he needed answers for all these questions running through his head but didn't know who to ask.

Aiden glanced around the area hoping to find a clue but everything was like that just as he was.

Aiden was shaking before he finally sat back. The edge of the tree while holding his head in confusion and staring at the amulet in surprise. If this is not a dream then it means something bigger is happening and he is involved but what?, he kept wondering.

Then suddenly a thought came to his mind like a whisper, Aiden who was still trying to process what the strange system screen showed. As his mind was racing in different directions.

Aiden stood up as his legs were still trembling and decided to calm himself down and do as the system instructed.

The next morning, Aiden woke up and was feeling different.

PROCESSING HAS BEEN COMPLETED

POWERS HAVE BEEN GRANTED TO THE VESSEL.

Aiden rose up sluggishly from his bed feeling a bit relieved from his earlier headache. He glanced outside the window and noticed it was morning already.

"Can't believe I actually survived that." Aiden mused as the encounter with Finral and Elizabeth setting the house on fire with him inside began to play in his head over and over again like it was yesterday, not knowing it was up to one month.

"My wounds.." Aiden glanced at his injured body but there was nothing. Not even a single scratch, which made him puzzled.

"What is this thing, like a system, am I a robot?" Aiden wonders.

"I had doubts about this system thing earlier..but after what happened, it convinced me that it's actually real. Question is where did it come from? I guess it is from my amulet."

Then suddenly the system displayed a notification.

Aiden gazed at the holographic screen in front of him with his fingers rubbing his chin in contemplation.

"This is almost like the game I played back in those days," Aiden mused in contemplation. He had no reason to doubt how authentic the system was after what he went through, so he just proceeded to examine it and figure out how it works fully.

"If it's truly like the game, then leveling up would make me stronger," Aiden grinned. He has always been the weak human that all abled people with abilities are bullied.

"Hmm..strange. I've never heard of anyone with an electric ability, and it requires mana?" Aiden mused with a puzzled expression while examining the screen. "Also, the dash ability also requires mana for use. People who only rely on speed don't need mana to become fast..but once their stamina rubs out their pace reduces. Why then do I need mana, but there is no panel for stamina?"

None of it made sense to Aiden, and after wondering for several more minutes he dismissed the thoughts and shifted his gaze to the stats panel.

"20 available points. I don't need anyone to tell me what happens once I place the points in my stats." Aiden smirked with his gaze glued on the screen floating in front of him.

"Right now, I need to become stronger to at least fight back my oppressors. Agility won't make me strong, it's more like a defensive stats. Same as reflex."

"Speed still looks handy, but strength is what I need the most. If I can get stronger by increasing my strength.

STRENGTH + 20 Equals To 40 Strength.

Coming to conclusion, Aiden added his points to his strength stats and felt a refreshing energy surge through his body and his muscles increased slightly.

"I really don't feel any different." Aiden lamented as he rose up from the bed and threw out a few punches in the air, but couldn't feel any change in the impact.

"Maybe just 20 points isn't enough." Aiden mused while scanning through the screen until he reached the end which stated the daily quests.

"Ah, I totally forgot about this. Daily quest." Aiden uttered gleefully as he read through the quests. "10 pushups is a piece of cake..same as sit ups and lifting. Problem is how am I going to run to complete the last quest?.

Aiden then got down and swiftly completed the push ups and sit ups. He stood up and lifted his wooden bed off the floor and completed the third quest with ease.

"Just one left..maybe I can complete it here also." Aiden mused as he began to run back and forth in his small room until he finally received the last notification.

Aiden's eyes widened in shock after reading the notification.

"Hidden reward?" He questioned before clicking on it.

Every breath stung with ash and burnt stone.Kylian stumbled forward, his legs weak, his sword dragging across the ground. His chest ached from the blast, but he didn’t care. His eyes locked on the lone figure standing at the crater’s heart. His brother. “Aiden,” Kylian called, his voice breaking.Aiden stood still, his head bowed, silver fire flickering along one arm, black shadow writhing across the other. His grip on his sword was tight, knuckles pale, as if letting go would shatter him completely. He looked up slowly. His silver eyes blazed. His red eyes glowed. And his lips moved. “Run.”The word echoed, layered with two voices. Elara was behind Kylian, her bow trembling in her hands though no arrows remained. His hands shook as he gripped his sword buried in the stone. His face was pale, sweat dripping, but his eyes… his eyes glowed with two colors. One silver. One red. The sight made Elara step back, her bow trembling in her grip. “This should not be possible,” she whispered. “No one can hold both.”The stranger’s eyes narrowed under their hood. “And yet he is.”Seraphiel still stood near the citadel gates, silver flames cloaking his form. But his calm was gone. His face, once steady, was tight with alarm. “This cannot be,” he muttered. “The

  • CHAPTER TWENTY-TWO

The ground trembled. Black fire rose from the cracks, curling like serpents, coiling high until the entire square was a cage of shadow and flame. The heat pressed against their skin, though the fire gave no warmth, only cold, bitter, bone-deep.Aiden gripped his sword, his silver spark flickering in his eyes again. The glow was faint, weaker than before, but enough to catch in the dark flames. His body was still weak from the hidden road, every breath strained, but he forced himself to stand.Kylian stood in front of him, sword shaking in his hands, his jaw set in grim defiance. “You’re not touching him.”The stranger shifted, stepping into a low stance, both daggers drawn. Their eyes never left the hooded figure. “That’s not just another hunter. That’s him.”Elara’s silver eyes burned bright, her voice low, almost reverent. “Vatou. The Lord of Shadows.”The hooded figure tilted its head. The voice that came from it was not one voice, but many, deep, hollow, endless. “You speak my n

The river roared behind them, its spray misting the air, but no one turned back. The grass underfoot was damp, the earth cracked where silver and red had clashed. Smoke still lingered from the fight, but the hunters were gone. For now.Aiden leaned heavily on Kylian’s shoulder as they walked, his body still weak. His eyes had returned to their usual color, but the memory of that silver glow lingered in everyone’s mind. No one spoke of it. Not yet.The stranger walked ahead, blades sheathed but hands always near their hilts, eyes scanning the horizon. Elara followed behind, her bow in hand, silver eyes dark with thought. The only sound was the river fading into the distance and the crunch of their steps. Finally, Kylian broke the silence. His voice was tight, raw from shouting in battle. “We should rest. Aiden needs.”“No,” Elara cut in sharply. “Not here. Not anywhere near this place. The hunters will return, and if Kael calls others…” Her gaze swept the horizon. “We must reach the w

Lightning still danced in the clouds above, fading slowly, but its echoes filled the air with static.Aiden knelt in the center of it all, his sword buried in the earth, his chest rising and falling with ragged breaths. The black lines that had poisoned his flesh were gone, erased as if they had never existed. But his eyes glowed silver, brighter than moonlight.Kael stood frozen. His crimson blade still hummed, but for the first time his stance was not steady. His mask tilted slightly, his voice rougher than before. “Impossible.”The green and violet hunters shifted uneasily, their weapons glowing, but even they seemed to hesitate.Elara’s silver eyes widened, and for once, she looked shaken. She lowered her bow slowly, her lips parting. “No… it can’t be.”Kylian was kneeling beside Aiden, gripping his shoulder tightly.
