Neon fungal steam filled the narrow hallway of the Yogyakarta Palace bunker. The colors were beautiful—electric purple and faded green—but the smell was like jasmine rotting inside a grave. Je panted, his back pressed against the damp stone wall. In front of him, something that was once the reason he wanted to retire from art theft was now crawling closer.

"Sekar... stop! Damn it, it’s me, Je!" Je screamed. His voice cracked, choked by spores beginning to pierce his lungs.

Sekar, his fiancée, was no longer wearing the velvet kebaya he had prepared for their wedding. Her body had bloomed. Button mushrooms sprouted from the pores of her pale skin, and on her chest, a giant flower petal throbbed like an exposed heart.

"Je... sweet... hungry..." Sekar hissed. Her voice was no longer human, but the vibrating scrape of a wet membrane.

"Hungry? You just ate two guards out front, Sekar! Damn it, stay back!" Je tried to raise his hands, but Sekar had already lunged.

BRUGH!

The slender body, now heavy and slimy, pinned Je to the cold bunker floor. Sekar’s hands, now tipped with long black nails, gripped Je's neck. Not to strangle him, but to pull Je's face closer to her throbbing chest.

"Fragrant... Je... let us merge..."

"Merge my ass! You want to eat my heart, don't you?!" Je struggled, but Sekar’s strength was nonsensical.

Suddenly, neon spores spraying from Sekar’s body hit Je square in the face. Je gagged, his eyes bulging. A strange heat surged from his nose to his groin. It was insane. At the edge of death, attacked by a monster tearing his clothes, Je felt a wild surge of neural stimulation.

"Shit... what is this? Aphrodisiac spores?!" Je cursed, his face flushing red. "Sekar, if you’re going to kill me, just do it! Don't make it hard at a time like this!"

"Enjoy... Je... this is the art... of death..." Sekar licked Je’s neck. Her tongue was as rough as sandpaper, leaving a trail of glowing slime behind.

Je's hand fumbled to the side, searching for anything to use for survival. His fingers touched the teak box he’d stolen from the Sultan’s secret room earlier that morning. The box contained the artifact rumored to be the cause of the madness in Yogyakarta: The Ancient Loro Blonyo.

"Art, you say? Fine, let’s make a final masterpiece," Je growled. With the last of his strength, he slammed the box against the floor until it shattered.

Inside, a pair of ancient wooden statues shaped like Javanese newlyweds glowed dimly. Without a second thought, Je grabbed the statues. The sharp corners sliced into his palm. Fresh blood flowed, soaking the ancient wood.

"Take this, you fungal bitch!" Je pressed the statue against Sekar’s exposed chest.

TING!

A cold, mechanical voice suddenly echoed inside Je’s head, muffling Sekar’s growls.

"Huh? What was that voice?!" Je's eyes widened.

[Welcome, First Host.]

[Curator System Synchronizing...]

"System? You’re kidding? In the middle of this stinking bunker?!" Je yelled.

Sekar paused. Her head tilted to the left at an impossible angle. Her pupilless white eyes stared at the statue in Je's hand. "That... is ours... return it!"

"No way! It’s mine now!" Je tried to kick Sekar, but the monster clawed at Je's chest instead, ripping his shirt to shreds. Sekar leaned down and bit Je's shoulder.

"AAARGH! Dammit! That hurts, shit!"

[Warning: Host Body Integrity Decreasing!]

[System Suggestion: Use 'Lust Aura' to Calm Damaged Subject!]

"Use what?! I don't know how!" Je screamed in frustration.

[Taking Over Neural Controls... Converting Pain into Visual Pleasure.]

Instantly, the stinging in Je's shoulder turned into a tickling, cold sensation. Je’s vision shifted. He no longer saw Sekar as a monster, but as a living abstract painting. Lines of purple energy flowed through Sekar’s body, and Je felt like he could manipulate those lines.

"Sekar... calm down," Je whispered. His voice suddenly sounded deep and full of authority.

Je pulled Sekar’s head toward him—not to push her away, but to kiss her forehead. As his lips touched the cold, fungal skin, a pink shockwave radiated from Je’s body.

WUUUSSSHHH!

Sekar shrieked. She was thrown backward, her body trembling violently. The spores that had been wild in the air began to settle, forming flower patterns on the bunker floor.

"What happened?" Je struggled to his feet. He looked at his own hand. A glowing tattoo was crawling from his wrist toward his heart—an intricate, glowing batik motif.

"Je... you... what did you do to me?" Sekar whimpered. She huddled in the corner of the hallway, covering herself. The fungus on her skin seemed to wither, as if in fear.

"I don't know, Sekar. It looks like I just installed an illegal app in my brain," Je panted.

"Shit! 500 meters? That’s just a stone’s throw away!" Je looked toward the outer hallway, which was becoming chaotic with the sound of dragging feet and the growls of thousands of zombies.

"Run... Je... run..." Sekar tried to stand but fell back down. Her eyes began to turn white again. "I... can't hold it anymore..."

"I’m not leaving you here, even if you’ve turned into a houseplant!" Je tried to approach, but his head suddenly felt like it had been hit by a sledgehammer.

[Energy Depleted.]

[Entering Dreamwalk Mode for Survival.]

[Caution: In the dream, Sekar will not be your sweet fiancée. She is the Hungry Fungal Ego.]

"What do you mean?! Wait! I’m not ready—"

Je's vision blurred. The dark Palace bunker suddenly melted. The stone walls turned into a giant, spinning canvas. Je felt his physical body go numb, but his soul was pulled into a black hole filled with the scent of jasmine and sweat.

"Welcome to your private gallery, Host," the System voice whispered again, this time with a tone that sounded almost... seductive.

[System Notification: Fluid Synchronization 1%... Entering Dreamwalk Mode for Survival.]

The world went dark. Je could only hear his own racing heartbeat and Sekar’s laughter echoing from all directions, as if she were waiting for him inside an endless labyrinth of desire.

"Damn it," Je muttered before his consciousness vanished completely. "Why does the apocalypse have to feel this good?"

  • Chapter 36: Underground Nerve Labyrinth

The sulfurous heat began to seep through the pores of the now dark-red nerve walls. Je coughed, his chest feeling as if it were being squeezed by invisible concrete. The golden light in his hand flickered, showing that his 'Lust Aura' was struggling against the increasing sulfur density."Damn, that smell... this isn't Merapi anymore, it's dragon farts with acid reflux!" Guntur grumbled, covering his nose with a scrap of his jacket, "Je, can't you paint a fan on this wall to cool things down?!""Shut it, Tur! Just breathe slowly!" Je barked. He turned to Sinta, who was walking with stiff steps, "Sin, oxygen is low. My system says this isn't just sulfur, but a high-dose hallucinogenic gas!"Sinta stopped, her silver eyes blinking wildly, "This is 'Melancholy Spores'. Surya dumps all the negative emotions he harvests

  • Chapter 35: Low-Frequency Hallucination

Their footsteps echoed stiffly against the tunnel floor, which felt like a giant tongue—wet, slightly rough, and constantly making small movements. The golden light from the nerve walls began to fade, replaced by a cold, pale blue glow. The sweet spore aroma that had been thick was now mixed with a pungent ozone smell, a sign of high biological electrical activity ahead."Damn, why is it getting so cold? Earlier when you and Sinta were 'exercising', it was hot as an oven," Guntur muttered, pulling his 'ojol' jacket tight—though it could no longer ward off the cold, "I feel like someone’s blowing on my neck from behind, Je. Seriously, it’s creepy!""Don't scare yourself, Tur. Focus on what’s ahead," Je replied. His eyes, now possessing a thin golden streak, continued to monitor the energy flow on the walls, "Sinta, why did the frequency change to blue? Shouldn't the main path be red?"Sinta stopped for a moment, touching a swollen nerve node on the wall. Her silver eyes blinked rapidly

  • Chapter 34: Neural Labyrinth: The Bloody Silk Road

The darkness inside the Japanese Cave was not pure black. The coral rock walls had been coated in a network of organic fibers glowing a dim purple, pulsing slowly as if following the earth's heartbeat. The air inside was extremely humid, smelling like a mixture of wet moss, rusted iron, and an intoxicatingly sweet aroma—the signature scent of 'Curator' spores."Damn, are we entering a cave or the throat of a giant?" Guntur muttered. He raised his homemade rifle, using a flashlight tied with rubber bands to the end of the barrel. The light swayed, illuminating walls that looked like flayed muscles, "Look at that, Je! The walls move when the light hits them! It creeps me out, dammit!""That’s not an ordinary movement, Guntur. It’s a phototropic reaction from Surya’s collective nerves," Sinta replied. She walked beside Je, her steps calm though her silver eyes continued to scan every corner, "This Silk Road is the main aorta connecting the South and the North. Surya uses this path to sen

  • Chapter 33: Canvas of Wounds an Thorny Roots

The black sand of Parangendog Beach exploded as giant fungal roots thrust from beneath the earth, twisting like the tentacles of a starving monster. Danu, with membranous wings pulsing a deep purple, hovered low. His half-destroyed face smirked, dripping corrosive slime that ate holes into the sand below."Damn, Danu! You really turned into a giant cockroach!" Je yelled as he jumped back, dodging a lash from a thorny root, "You used to slip up just stealing paintings, and now you’re acting like a final boss in a game!""I was weak then because I still had a heart, Je!" Danu’s voice thundered, vibrating with the spore frequency in the air, "Now, Surya has given me a purpose. I am the gatekeeper, and you are just the trash left behind!"Danu flapped his wings, spraying a thick orange spore mist toward Je.[System Warning!][Spore Type: 'Corrosive Lust'.][Effect: Dissolves skin protection and triggers instant sensory nerve failure!]"Damn! • Chapter 32: Landing at 'Parangendog' Beach

The Skimmer-X sped across the thick purple sea, leaving a trail of white foam that was immediately swallowed by the churning water. Je twisted the throttle hard, feeling the vibration of the ion engine travel from the handlebars through his arms. Behind him, Sinta gripped his waist tightly, while Guntur and Saraswati held onto the safety rails at the back."HOLY CRAP! JE! IS THIS A WATER BIKE OR A NUCLEAR ROCKET?! IT’S TOO FAST, DAMMIT!" Guntur screamed. The high wind made his filthy cheeks flap hilariously, "I feel like a MotoGP racer, but the circuit is fruit-cocktail soup!""Shut up and just hold on, Tur! If you fall, I’m not turning back to get you!" Je barked without looking away. His eyes were fixed on the coastline emerging from behind the red fog."Master, there is movement beneath the water," Saraswati warned. Her transparent body began to glow blue, a sign she was detecting energy anomalies, "Many of them. They are following us!""Sinta, is your radar picking up anything?" J

  • SERIES-4: THE BETRAYAL OF THE EPIGRAFPHIST Chapter 31: The Island at the Edge of Hope

The white sand felt like it was scorching his skin, but Je didn’t care. He sat cross-legged in front of the wreckage of the stranded escape pod, staring at the horizon which was now filled with a permanent purple fog. In his hand, he toyed with a loose bolt from Guntur’s armor—the only thing he managed to grab before the explosion destroyed everything."Damn... it really is quiet without that loudmouth," Je muttered. His voice was swallowed by the sound of the waves."He’d be proud to know you’re using that bolt as prayer beads, Je!"Sinta walked closer. She was no longer wearing her filthy lab coat. She only wore Je’s oversized white shirt, the top buttons undone, revealing silver tattoos crawling from the base of her neck to her cleavage. Her silver eyes glinted in the sunlight, flashing rapid lines of moving binary code."Not funny, Sin. Guntur was a pain, but he was the only person who didn't look at me like a monster," Je let out a long sigh, then tossed the bolt into the sand, "
