Javier silently looked at them, feeling no anger in his heart but rather amusement.

Javier is no longer surprised by Camila's actions because she can be as selfish as she is now, especially regarding money.

"Unbelievable," Javier muttered.

Camila rolled her eyes lazily.

She gave Javier a lazy look as if she were fed up with him.

"Sign the papers already, Javier."

Camila scoffed, tapping her manicured nails against the table.

"Let's not drag this out. Mateo and I have a future to build, and you're just a speck of dust in my past."

"I'd hurry if I were you," Mateo added with a smirk.

He adjusted the cuffs of his expensive suit.

"The sooner you sign, the sooner Camila can finally be with a real man."

"I see," Javier responded.

His voice steady, his expression unreadable.

"A real man, you say?" Javier said.

"Is that the one who sneaks around with someone else's wife behind closed doors?"

Camila rolled her eyes, flipping her hair over her shoulder.

Javier knew it was because Camila now become a greedy woman who wanted more luxuries and the life of a queen.

"Idiot. You're not much better than me," Mateo scoffed, "you're nothing but dust in my eyes!"

Before he could say anything worse, a sudden commotion at the entrance made everyone pause.

A wave of murmurs spread through the hall as an exquisite figure entered.

Valeria Cortes, dressed in a sleek navy suit, moved with effortless grace, her heels clicking against the polished marble floor.

Behind her, a team of guards in suits trailed. The entire room seemed to hush in her presence.

Camila and Mateo frowned in confusion.

They looked like important people, especially the woman who walked towards them, who looked elegant and luxurious.

Mateo held his breath.

He wondered who she was because she looked more beautiful than Camila.

The difference in their levels was very noticeable.

Camila's face even had a clear look of irritation and jealousy.

Valeria walked to Javier's side with a strong, confident demeanor.

"How interesting."

Valeria's voice rang calm and clear, her gaze sweeping over the scene.

"A man being treated like disposable trash, all because someone assumed he had nothing. A rather shortsighted mistake, do you agree?

Camila narrowed her eyes.

"Who the hell are you? And why are you interfering in my business?"

"Interfering?"

Valeria chuckled, a knowing smile playing on her lips.

"Oh, darling, think twice before making irreversible decisions."

Camila folded her arms.

"And why should I? Our problem has nothing to do with you."

Javier was surprised that Valeria suddenly appeared there.

While he hoped that Valeria would not be affected by his pity,

But she seemed wrong as Valeria seemed like a fearless female warrior.

“I am here to pick up my man.”

After these words, Valeria playfully smiled at Javier.

Everyone was stunned for a moment. Valeria's beautiful smile made them lose their senses.

Javier was shocked.

"What is she saying? Oh, she must be helping me out of this predicament," he thought to himself.

Camila snorted.

"Javier, you are truly hopeless."

"Did you really find some seductive actress from who-knows-where just to satisfy your pathetic sense of pride?"

Camila proudly linked arms with Mateo. "Mateo is what you’d call a real man." As she spoke, she gazed at him affectionately.

However, to her surprise, Mateo was staring intently at Valeria’s ample chest.

Camila angrily pinched Mateo.

Snapping back to reality, Mateo straightened his suit and stepped toward Valeria.

"Beautiful lady, you must have been deceived by this man. He’s a failure, completely unworthy of your attention."

"Allow me to introduce myself, I am Mateo of the Waverly family."

He extended his hand toward Valeria, flashing a confident smile, convinced that the stunning woman before him would be awestruck upon hearing his prestigious lineage.

However, Valeria’s eyes widened slightly as she looked at him as if he were an idiot. "Waverly family? Never heard of it."

Mateo froze for a moment before awkwardly replying, "Then surely you've heard of the Cortes family."

Valeria raised an eyebrow.

"Our family is true nobility, and we’re even about to secure a partnership with the Cortes family! In the future, I’ll definitely be able to help you in many ways," Mateo declared proudly, lifting his head like a peacock displaying its feathers.

Valeria’s next words sent a chill down his spine.

"Why don’t I know about my family working with you?"

Mateo staggered back in shock. "You… you're from the Cortes family?"

Camila’s voice rang out from behind him, loud and filled with disbelief.

"Don't listen to that bitch's nonsense! She’s just an actress Javier hired—there’s no way she’s from the Cortes family!"

Before she could finish, a group of guards surrounded her.

"Watch your language! If you dare disrespect our young lady again, we won’t be so polite!"

Seeing the many burly guards surrounding her, Camila closed her mouth in fear.

"The young lady of the Cortes family?" Mateo muttered to himself.

He suddenly realized something while in mounting tension.

"You... you're Valeria Cortes? The heir of the Cortes family?"

Seeing the cold gaze Valeria directed at him, Mateo knew he had caused a great disaster.

Mateo's voice wavered, his pupils constricting as he stepped back.

His lips parted slightly in disbelief while his eyes darted between the elegantly dressed woman before him and the refined man beside her.

His body tensed as he believed his memories.

A woman from an influential family in the city of London.

How did Valeria know Javier?

It doesn't make sense for a woman of dignity like her to be in a relationship with Javier, who is just a man from a low-income family.

Camila’s eyes widened in surprise as she heard his words.

“Honey...”

Smack!

Mateo slapped Camila’s face fiercely!

Javier gave Amara a single nod—an unspoken acceptance of her resolve—before striding past Damon, who was already on the comms, murmuring orders into a hidden earpiece. The hotel suite door shut behind them with a soft click, the air outside colder, heavier—like the night knew what they were heading into.Down in the underground garage, a matte-black SUV waited, engine running. Javier slipped into the back seat while Amara took the front. Damon climbed behind the wheel.“They’re expecting us,” Damon said, pulling out into the street, “but we’ll still go in from the east entrance—less visibility, less noise.”“Any heat signatures?” Javier asked.

Javier paced to the wet bar, poured himself a glass of water—no liquor tonight. Not until his mind was sharper than the blade he kept hidden beneath his coat. He took a sip, then turned back to Amara.“Start from the beginning,” he said. “How did you find out Sable was in the city?”“I intercepted chatter on a secure channel,” Amara replied, pulling a tablet from her bag and placing it on the glass table. “Encrypted, but sloppy. He’s getting arrogant. Someone referred to him as Dr. S—that’s the same alias he used in Prague.”Javier’s eyes narrowed. “And the lab?”“Abandoned pharmaceutical facility. East River district. Last used five years ago. No electricity on the grid, but the thermal scans I ran last night show movement. At least four people inside. Possibly more underground.”“So he’s building something.”“Or someone,” Amara said, her jaw clenched. “If it’s another subject like—”“Don’t.” Javier’s voice dropped, almost a whisper. “We don’t speak about Subject 12.”Amara lowered h

The elevator hummed softly as it ascended. Amara stood beside Javier in tense silence, stealing glances at him every few seconds. "Mr. Montalvo. We need to speak. It's urgent."Every voice in the lobby fell silent. Her gaze was locked on Javier.Javier didn't move from where he stood—arms crossed, jaw tight, still reeling from the string of humiliating remarks hurled his way only minutes earlier. One woman in a tight red dress glanced over her shoulder and scoffed.“Looks like security’s getting real lenient these days,” she whispered to her friend, not bothering to lower her voice. Her friend laughed, flipping her blonde hair. “Maybe he’s lost.
