The Item: The Void-Severing Dagger.

The Power: It didn't cut flesh; it cut through Qi and spiritual shields.

"A weapon that eats energy, just like me," Lu Chen whispered, a dark smile crossing his face.

He didn't wait. He opened the jade bottle and swallowed the Heavenly Dew in one gulp.

Immediately, his body felt like it was being rebuilt from the inside to the outside. The violent, messy energy he had taken from the monsters began to smooth out. It turned into unstoppable power. His skin became tougher, and his senses became sharper. He could hear the heartbeat of a bird miles away.

[Image: Lu Chen standing in the glowing cave, holding the black dagger, with his eyes glowing violet.]

The cave began to tremble. The treasure had been the only thing holding the spiritual balance of this area together. Now that Lu Chen had taken it, the walls were cracking. “Oh…”

"The Heavens keep leaving gifts for me," Lu Chen said, tucking the dagger into his belt.

He felt a new level of confidence. With the monsters' energy digesting in his body and this new treasure in his hand, he was no longer just a runaway disciple. He was a growing storm.

He walked out of the collapsing cave just as the entrance fell shut behind him. He looked toward the horizon, where the sun was beginning to rise and said.

"The forest has given me what I need," "Now, it's time to find the people who helped the Elders destroy my family."

He disappeared into the trees, a faster, stronger, and much more dangerous man than he had been yesterday.

Lu Chen fleeing to the high heavens, the black energy from the Chaos Devouring Root gathered beneath his feet like a dark cloud, carrying him higher than any mortal was allowed to go. Below him, the world looked like a tiny map. Above him, the sky turned from blue to a shimmering, royal gold.

This was the boundary. The place where the air grew thin and the gods lived.

As Lu Chen reached the Great Gate of the High Heavens, two massive statues of golden warriors came to life. They were three times the size of a man, holding spears made of pure sunlight.

"Halt, mortal!" one of them boomed. "This is the realm of the High Heaven Emperor. Your soul is too dark to pass. Turn back or be erased."

Lu Chen didn't stop. He was moving directly pulling the Void-Severing Dagger from his belt. The black blade seemed to hum, hungry for the light in front of it.

"I am not here to ask for permission," Lu Chen said.

He swung the dagger, a wave of black shadow cutting through the air; The golden spears, which were supposed to be unbreakable, snapped like dry twigs. The golden armor of the statues turned to grey dust the moment his energy touched them.

The Great Gate shattered. Lu Chen walked into a hall made of white marble and floating gardens. At the far end, sitting on a throne was the High Heaven Emperor

The Emperor looked young, but his eyes were ancient and cold. He didn't stand up.

He looked at Lu Chen like he was an annoying insect that he would crush.

"So, the little seed of Chaos has finally grown," the Emperor said. His voice felt like a heavy weight pressing down on Lu Chen’s shoulders. "You destroyed a small sect and killed a few monsters. Do you really think you can challenge the ruler of the Nine Heavens?"

"You killed my mother because you were afraid of my power," Lu Chen replied, his voice steady. "You stole my family’s name because you wanted to stay on that throne forever. Today, the bill is due."

The Battle of Light and Shadow

The Emperor raised a finger. A bolt of golden lightning shot toward Lu Chen. It moved faster than the eye could see.

Lu Chen didn't dodge. He opened his mouth and inhaled.

The lightning didn't strike him; it was sucked into his chest. The Chaos Devouring Root inside him roared with joy. The Emperor’s face finally changed—his calm expression turned into a mask of shock.

"You... you dare to eat the lightning of the Heavens?" the Emperor shouted. He finally stood up, and the entire palace began to shake.

"I will eat everything you throw at me," Lu Chen said, his hair flying in the wind of his own dark energy. "I will eat your light, I will eat your throne, and then I will eat your life."

Lu Chen lunged forward. The black dagger clashed against the Emperor’s golden sword. The impact sent a shocking wave that cracked the sky, turning the golden day into darkness.

The palace of the High Heavens, a place of peace, was now a battlefield of screaming sound of breaking glasses. When the Emperor’s golden sword glowed brighter, Lu Chen was like a black hole in it—no matter how much light the Emperor threw at him, Lu Chen simply swallowed it and grew stronger.

"You are a monster!" the Emperor roared. He swung his sword, sending a wave of fire toward Lu Chen.

He didn't blink. Instead he raised his left hand, and a shield of swirling black smoke appeared and covered everywhere. When the fire hit the smoke, It hissed and vanished, pulling directly into Lu Chen’s palms.

"I am the monster you created," Lu Chen said calmly, making the Emperor more angry.

Realizing that his basic attacks were failing, the Emperor let out a scream that shook the stars. His golden robes tore away, and he grew in size until he was a giant made of pure, blinding light. He looked like a god, beautiful and terrifying.

"I am the law of this world! Without me, there is only chaos!"

the Emperor shouted, his voice was echoing through the clouds.

He slammed his giant fist down toward Lu Chen. The floor of the palace crumbled, and the floating island where they were standing began to move.
