CHAPTER 25

The Jeep drove into the library complex, picking a nice spot concealed from every camera. Nora and Nicholas stepped calmly and casually went over and opened the booth.

They met with the face of a freaked out cop, drenched in sweat and staring at them like they were monsters. Nicholas extended his hand to the cop.

“You are probably going to need help getting out of there.” He said concern in his voice. It wasn’t just creepy, it was just wrong. The cop slapped his hand off.

Nicholas squeezed his lips a little, he looked like he was feeling bad that the cop was giving up a lifetime opportunity. Nicholas stepped away from the car, turning his back on them. Nora pulled out her revolver.

“It shouldn’t be like this. Honestly. We have no problem with you. We just want to talk but if you keep treating us like we are not friends, that will be hard.” Nora explained quietly. She tucked her gun back into her pocket, letting her coat cover it.

    Nicholas took Natalie to the hospital. The cops took their statements. Nicholas told them that the guy accidentally fell over the railing while he was trying to beat him up.“I guess Karma came early.” He said.The cops obviously didn’t believe him but they didn’t have evidence that Nicholas threw him off.
