"I'll come meet you there later. I’ve already arranged people and a car to take you safely," Karvel said gently, adjusting the cuff of his sleeve as his eyes lingered on Elena. "I need to stop by the office first Morrison is waiting for me, and there are matters I must handle."

Elena pressed her lips together and gave a small nod, though her heart sank a little. She wished he could stay, even for a moment longer, but she knew his responsibilities were heavy and important. "Alright," she whispered softly, trying to hide her disappointment behind a faint smile.

Karvel studied her face for a brief moment, as if memorizing her expression before leaving. He reached out, brushing a strand of hair away from her cheek. "Don’t worry, I’ll see you there. Just enjoy yourself until I arrive."

With that, he turned and walked out. The cool breeze outside carried the scent of fresh rain as he stepped into the open air. A sleek black car was already parked at the curb, the driver standing respectfull

"Can you please attend to me?" Elena asked, her voice rising with anger. She was tired of how the police officers were treating her, like she didn’t even exist. "I’ve been here since morning, and you still haven’t attended to me. What’s going on here?"One of the police officers looked at her for a second, then looked away, avoiding her eyes. "You can only get answers if you calm down," he said. "Better still, go home and come back when you’re calmer."This response made Elena even angrier. "Is this how you treat people?" she demanded. "My husband has been missing since yesterday, and you still haven’t come up with anything. Do you have any information at all?"The officer answered rudely, "If I may ask, did you come up with anything? Do you have any information that can help us?"Elena’s anger boiled over. "That’s your duty, not mine," she snapped. The police officer raised an eyebrow. "You’re not in a position to give us orders," he said. "We’re doing our best to find your husband,

It felt like she had lost her daughter in that single moment. She pulled out her phone and dialed Karvel's number again, but it was still switched off.Just then, the door opened forcefully, and Elena was surprised to see Liza standing in her house. "Oh, wow, look at the devil," Liza said with anger. "Where do you think you're going?"Elena acted like she didn't understand what Liza was up to and wanted to go out, which was impossible at that moment. "Please can you come back next time?" Elena said. "I'm too busy for your attitude."Liza's face twisted with anger. "You should be, after all the trouble you've caused," she said. "No peace for a wicked soul. If you know what's good for you, you'll go down and start begging for mercy."Elena laughed, her eyes flashing with anger. "Did you just say beg?" she repeated. "I'd rather die than beg. You all got what you deserved because of your greed. Face it alone."Liza's a

Robert stood frozen, his chest heaving with anger. At first, he said nothing, but his clenched fists and reddened face spoke for him. Finally, he snapped.“Do whatever you think is best for your foolish self,” he spat, his voice trembling with rage. He stepped closer to Patricia, his eyes blazing. “But don’t forget—Mother makes the decisions, and the whole family follows.”His tone carried both authority and a trace of fear. Patricia met his glare with calm defiance. For the first time in years, she was ready to stand up for her daughter against Robert’s mother.“If this is how you defend your mother, then it’s nothing but blind loyalty,” Patricia said firmly. “Everyone would finally have peace if you stopped acting like her obedient dog.” Her words were sharp, but she didn’t care—her daughter came first.Robert’s fury boiled over. “Do you even realize you’re talking about my mother?” he roared. “Or have you lost your mind?” He lunged closer, his anger ready to explode.Patricia laugh

Patricia’s hands clenched at her sides as she turned to face him fully, her eyes glistening with restrained tears.“You talk about consequences,” she said quietly, her voice trembling with both anger and pain. “But have you thought about the weight she carries? Every day she’s mocked, belittled, judged for every choice she makes. And instead of protecting her, we let them tear her apart.”Her husband’s jaw tightened, but he didn’t look away. “Patricia… shielding her every time will not make her stronger. You’re a mother, I understand that. But life will not always give her comfort. Sooner or later, she must learn to stand alone.”Patricia shook her head, her voice breaking. “She doesn’t need to stand alone she needs someone to stand with her. And if no one else will, then I will. Even if it means going against all of you.”The two stood in silence, the sounds of laughter and music spilling faintly from the hall behind them. The contrast was sharp inside, a party trying to pretend all

“You all came tonight to witness the young master, didn’t you? To see the great man Margaret promised would grace us with his presence. But he’s not here. And yet, look at how much noise they make about my husband. Strange, isn’t it? That the man they call useless still threatens them more than the one who never even showed up.”The guests exchanged looks, some nodding slightly, others whispering behind their hands. Elena’s confidence shifted the balance of the room suddenly, it wasn’t her standing in shame, but Margaret, Liza, and Sarah, their faces stiff with humiliation.Elena folded her arms, her smile calm and victorious. “So go on, Grandmother. Go on, Liza. Keep talking about my husband if it helps you sleep at night. But remember this every word you speak only proves how much space he takes in your minds. And trust me… he doesn’t even think about you.”The hall erupted into hushed gasps and murmurs, the weight of Elena’s words settling heavily on the air. For once, she had turn
