Adrian looked at the empty cabinet.

“Who knew about the key?”

Nathan shook his head.

“Richard gave it to me privately. I never told anyone.”

“Then someone was watching you.”

Nathan didn't answer.

Elena was already checking the security system.

“The camera outside this office was disabled for four minutes.”

Victor looked at her.

“Can you recover the footage?”

“I'm trying.”

Adrian walked toward the window.

The city below looked completely normal.

Traffic moved through the streets. People crossed intersections. Office workers hurried home.

Somewhere in that crowd, someone had just stolen a key connected to his father's final days.

His phone rang.

Unknown number.

Adrian answered.

“Hello?”

No response.

Then a man's voice came through.

“You should have left the past alone.”

Adrian's expression changed.

“Who are you?”

“You took your father's company. You exposed Marcus. You started asking questions.”

“Where is the key?”

A short silence.

“You're asking the wrong question.”

Adrian's grip tightened around the phone.

“What should I be asking?”

“Why did Richard Cole trust a man he barely knew?”

The call ended.

Victor watched him.

“What did he say?”

Adrian repeated the conversation.

Elena turned from the computer.

“The security footage is back.”

She connected the system to the wall monitor.

The recording showed the hallway outside Nathan's office.

A figure appeared.

Dark jacket. Cap pulled low.

The person stopped outside the office.

Then looked directly at the camera.

Elena paused the footage.

Adrian stared at the frozen image.

“He knew where the camera was.”

Victor nodded.

“Professional.”

“Maybe,” Adrian said.

Elena resumed the footage.

The person entered Nathan's office.

Four minutes later, he walked out.

But before leaving, he looked back toward the camera.

Something fell from his hand.

A small object.

Elena zoomed in.

Adrian recognized it immediately.

“A key.”

Nathan stepped closer.

“That isn't mine.”

Adrian looked at him.

“Then whose is it?”

Nathan shook his head.

“I've never seen it before.”

Elena enhanced the image.

A symbol was engraved on the key.

Three lines forming a broken circle.

The same symbol.

Adrian reached for his jacket.

“Where are you going?”

“Warehouse Seventeen.”

Victor frowned.

“Why?”

“Because whoever took the key wanted us to find this one.”

Elena grabbed her coat.

“Then we're not letting you go alone.”

“I wasn't planning to.”

Victor sighed.

“I was afraid you'd say that.”

They left the building together.

Nobody noticed the black sedan parked across the street.

The driver watched them leave.

Then made a call.

“They're going to Warehouse Seventeen.”

A voice answered.

“Good.”

The sedan pulled away.

***

Warehouse Seventeen had been abandoned for years.

Adrian arrived first.

The building stood behind a row of old industrial properties, its windows covered in dust.

Victor checked the entrance.

“No security.”

Elena looked around.

“That's what worries me.”

Adrian pushed the door open.

Inside, the air smelled of old wood and metal.

They moved carefully through the warehouse.

Nothing appeared unusual.

Then Elena stopped.

“Adrian.”

She pointed toward the wall.

There were photographs pinned beneath a broken light.

Adrian walked over.

His father's face appeared in every photograph.

Richard meeting Marcus.

Richard meeting Elijah Grant.

Richard entering a hotel.

Richard getting into a black car.

And one final photograph.

Adrian stopped.

It showed Richard standing beside a woman.

Adrian didn't recognize her.

On the back was a date.

The day before Richard died.

Victor examined it.

“Who's she?”

“I don't know.”

Elena looked at the photograph.

“Maybe Vivian knows.”

Adrian placed it carefully into his pocket.

Then he noticed something else.

A metal box sat beneath the table.

The same three-line symbol was carved into its lid.

Adrian crouched.

“This is what they were protecting.”

He opened it.

Empty.

Victor stared at him.

“Someone got here first.”

Adrian looked inside again.

There was a small piece of paper at the bottom.

He picked it up.

Only four words were written on it.

**ROOM 17. LONDON. GRANT.**

Elena looked at Adrian.

“Elijah.”

A noise came from the other side of the warehouse.

Everyone froze.

Footsteps.

One.

Then another.

Victor reached for his phone.

“The police?”

Adrian shook his head.

“Too quiet.”

The warehouse doors slammed shut.

Four men stepped out from behind the machinery.

The first one raised a weapon.

“Give us the photograph.”

Adrian moved in front of Elena.

“No.”

The man smiled.

“You should have listened to the warning.”

He rushed forward.

Adrian blocked the first strike and drove his shoulder into the man's chest.

The fight exploded across the warehouse.

Victor pulled Elena away from another attacker.

Adrian caught a metal pipe aimed at his head and shoved the attacker backward.

The man recovered quickly.

Too quickly.

He knew how to fight.

Adrian noticed the same symbol tattooed beneath his wrist.

“The Circle,” he muttered.

The attacker heard him.

“You shouldn't know that name.”

He reached inside his jacket.

Adrian reacted before he could pull anything out.

They crashed against a table.

The metal box fell to the floor.

One of the other men grabbed it.

“Got it!”

He ran.

Elena blocked his path.

The man swung at her.

She ducked and kicked his knee.

He stumbled.

Victor grabbed the box.

“Adrian!”

A sharp crack echoed through the warehouse.

Everyone stopped.

A bullet had struck the metal beam above them.

The attackers ran toward the rear exit.

Adrian chased them.

He reached the door just as an explosion tore through the side of the building.

The blast threw him backward.

Dust filled the air.

For several seconds, he couldn't hear anything.

Then Elena's voice reached him.

“Adrian!”

He pushed himself up.

“I'm fine.”

Victor was helping Elena to her feet.

The attackers were gone.

So was the metal box.

Adrian walked toward the damaged wall.

On the ground lay a piece of black cloth torn from one of the attackers.

He picked it up.

A symbol had been stitched into the fabric.

Three broken lines.

Below it were two words.

**ARCHIVE 17.**

Adrian stared at them.

Victor walked over.

“They knew exactly what we were looking for.”

Adrian looked toward the road outside.

“They wanted us here.”

Elena frowned.

“For what?”

Adrian looked at the photograph in his hand.

The picture of his father and the unknown woman was still there.

Everything else had been taken.

“They wanted us to find her.”

His phone vibrated.

Another unknown message.

Adrian opened it.

A photograph appeared.

It showed the same woman from the warehouse.

Alive.

Standing outside a London hotel.

Under the photograph was a single sentence:

**ASK HER WHY YOUR FATHER HID YOU.**
