Othniel blinked as Ashley called out to him and he straightened up. “You don’t have the right to speak to my fiancée in that manner. I was only wondering what a beautiful woman would be doing with a low class like you. Maybe if she was with someone better, her life would have been easier than what I have heard.”

Maxwell raised a brow as he listened to him speak. Ashley was enraged.

“Othniel, you were supposed to stand up for me and not my cousin!”

Othniel ignored her and continued. “Perhaps if she arranged to be my mistress, I can set her up for a meeting with the vice president too.”

Ashley’s eyes widened with shock. “What?!”

Arabella’s face darkened as she glared at Othniel. “Your mistress? Aren’t you engaged to Ashley?”

Othniel’s brows furrowed. “I’m entitled to have any one I want and no one is an exception. Especially seeing you are the one who is in need of help.”

Othniel’s smug grin widened as he looked at the gathered crowd. Reporters were nearby, and several other businessmen were watching the scene at the entrance.

"Look at her," Othniel announced, his voice booming. "The rejected granddaughter of the Zade is so desperate she’s come to the gates of Forest Hills with a beggar for a husband. Arabella, let’s be real. My fiancé Ashley here is the one with the talent. You? You're just a pretty face in a cheap suit."

He stepped closer, licking his lips in a disgusting manner. "I'll make the offer again. One night at the Grand Hotel with me, and I’ll walk you past those guards myself. Otherwise, you and your beggar can spend the day on the sidewalk with the rest of the trash."

Ashley didn't even look offended by the mistress comment anymore. Her face was filled with joy at seeing Arabella humiliated. "Hear that, Arabella? That's the only way a woman like you gets through those doors. Maybe Maxwell can wait in the car while you do your business? After all, I’m sure that’s how you got Nathan in your web, it won’t be your first time, would it?”

Arabella’s body trembled with rage as she spat. “You both… you are disgusting!”

“I take that as a no then,” Othniel smirked. He turned towards the head of the security, a 6’3 man standing by the revolving doors. “Hey, look at these two. They don’t have an appointment. Make sure they don’t go close to the doors, they will ruin it with their flirt.”

The Chief of Security walked forward. Ashley and Othniel stood tall, expecting the guard to shove Maxwell and Arabella into the street.

Maxwell finally moved. He stepped in front of Othniel. Othniel’s lungs suddenly felt tight as Maxwell’s domineering aura washed over him as his eyes narrowed on him.

“Othniel Waters,” Maxwell said in a low, threatening voice. “There’s one sin I do not forgive and that’s humiliating my wife. In five minutes, your contracts with Forest Hills will be terminated. In ten minutes, your Peniel Group will be blacklisted across the city. And in fifteen minutes... I'm going to decide what to do with that tongue of yours."

Othniel’s smirk instantly disappeared as color drained from his face, his skin turning pale. “You… you are just bluffing! You’re nothing but a useless bluffer and if any of these things would happen, I would eat my own head!”

The Chief of Security reached them and Ashley smirked.

“Sir, this beggar is threatening my fiancé! Throw them out. They do not belong here.”

The Chief of Security ignored Ashley entirely. He stood at a rigid military attention, his eyes fixed on a point behind Maxwell.

“Step aside," the Chief growled.

“You heard him, Maxwell! Move!" Othniel cheered.

But the Chief wasn't talking to Maxwell. He put a hand on Othniel’s chest and shoved him backward so hard the man stumbled and fell onto the concrete.

"I said step aside," the Chief roared at Othniel and Ashley. "You're blocking the path for our VIP guests."

“Let her go.”“Not yet. I’m not done with you, once I am, maybe I will finally let her leave until then, she stays here.”Maxwell narrows his eyes at him.“You know we all thought you were dead, especially when your family was attacked. And then suddenly, you appear again just ruining my plans over and over again,” Gilbert’s smile vanished instantly. “You should have listened to your father begging that I let your sisters stay alive but what was the use? They might decide to gang up against me but I think I made a mistake.”Gilbert smirked on seeing Maxwell’s hardened expression as he clenched his fists. “I should have sold them to merchants or kept them for my own entertainment. After all, what are pretty women good for? Entertainment yet and ownership that is why you have one. We are more alike than I think.”“I am nothing like you,” Maxwell said.“That’s what you think,” Gilbert said with a tilt of his head. “My father thought the same about your father and gave everything to him

Arabella noticed the changes in the atmosphere and for the first time since her kidnap, a surge of hope reignites in her heart. She didn’t know long she had been tied up here but she knew someone was coming for her. Gilbert sensed the shift in her expression and gave a knowing smile, he gave the tablet back to the men and said, “You can feel it as well. Maxwell was always going to come for you because that’s the kind of man he truly is. But don’t worry, my men here are still capable of holding down a commander.” He waved at the man to leave. “We just have to see just how prepared he really is. You were never the target dear, just the bait to bring your husband to me and now, my plans are slowly coming together.” Arabella stared at him blankly despite the turmoil going on in her head. Deep down, she still felt a surge of guilt down there. ‘How I wish I had listened to Maxwell,’ she thought. At that point, another guard rushes in. This time, his face was covered with panic, each s

Arabella frowned slightly. For some reason, the smile on Gilbert’s face seemed unsettling more than the situation she was currently in. The man before her didn’t behave like a criminal, he behaved like his actions were already justified.Gilbert chuckled softly as he noticed her silence. “You’re analysing me, I guess. I can see it all over you.”His fingers tapped lightly against the whiskey glass.“Maxwell choose well.”Arabella’s jaw tightened. “What exactly do you want from him?”“Everything dear,” he smirked. “But don’t worry, I won’t harm him but that will depend on if he doesn’t prove to be stubborn like his father was…” “You know, I have watched you both for the longest time and I can say you really don’t know your husband or what he has been hiding away from you. Were you that daft not to notice subtle changes?” He asked with raised brow.Arabella’s lips pursed as she thought about his questions. Truly, she didn’t know much about her husband. Time had slowly begun to reveal t

My whole family is missing and you want me to go to work? I seem to the only one missing out on all the details right now. Can someone just tell me what’s going on?!”“Don’t speak to the commander in that manner!” Hardin said in a menacing tone.“Hardin,” Maxwell called out and the man backed away. Maxwell looked up at Theodore and said calmly, “Your wife decided to rope herself in with my enemies and took my wife down with her and I’m going to get her back but whatever happens, leave it to me to handle.”Theodore’s jaw twitched as he sighed. His cold voice sent a chill down her spine, and she found herself nodding as she opened the car door and slowly walked out of it. Surrounding her car were several men dressed in black, masked as well, each holding guns pointed at her. Her lips trembled as she stared at the sight. A soft whimper came from beside her. The masked man from earlier was holding her mother at gunpoint. “Arabella, please just do as they say!” Sienna cried, her body shaking with terror. “Pleas… please, let my mother go,” Arabella pleaded, her voice cracking. “Is it money you want?
