Aji’s eyes, honed by years of training to pierce through even the deepest darkness, picked out the faint outlines of figures moving through the trees—roughly twelve meters from the clearing where he and Ratih had made their camp. Though the shadows draped the forest in heavy folds, he could make out at least five men, and possibly more hidden just beyond his line of sight. Three of them bore burdens slung over their shoulders—shapes that shifted and sagged in a way that suggested they carried living weight, though he could not yet be certain what, or who, they held. Two others walked beside them, their hands gripping the edges of large wooden crates that creaked with each step they took.

“Hahaha! Tonight we shall feast like kings, my friends!”

The cry rang out sharp and clear across the stillness of the forest night, cutting through the soft rustle of leaves and the distant hoot of an owl. To be absolutely sure of what he faced, Aji channeled the ancient energy that flowed through his

  • The Demon Sword Appears

Aji felt a wave of relief wash over him as his great-grandfather’s wisdom echoed in his mind, steadying his resolve. He wasted no more time—seeing that Joyonoto had cast aside his spear and now drew a dark black blade from his back, Aji pulled the Dragon Earth Sword from its scabbard once more, its surface gleaming with quiet power.“You are about to witness the true might of my beloved Demon Sword!” Joyonoto hissed, his voice low and menacing as he gripped the weapon tightly. The blade seemed to drink in the light around it, casting deep shadows across his face.“My blade has no need to acquaint itself with such filth,” Aji scoffed, holding his own sword at the ready—its dark form a mirror to Joyonoto’s weapon, yet carrying an aura of purpose rather than malice.Thick black smoke began to pour from the Demon Sword, curling around Joyonoto’s hand like living serpents. He shifted his weight, drawing his right foot back to plant it firmly on the ground, then launched himself forward wit

  • The Poisoned Claws of the Black Fox

Joyonoto—still seething with rage over his brother’s defeat—launched another blistering assault, his sharp spear aimed directly at Aji’s chest. The weapon cut through the air with a shrill whistle, its tip gleaming with deadly intent as it raced toward its target.Aji offered a small, calm smile as he watched the attack unfold. Rather than parry or block, he simply shifted his body slightly to the side—barely enough to let the spear pass harmlessly in front of his heart, the metal shaft brushing against his robes with a faint shush of fabric against steel. But Joyonoto was not finished. With fluid precision, he followed through with a relentless series of strikes, each one aimed at a vital point on Aji’s body—his throat, his kidneys, the joints of his arms and legs. Every thrust and sweep was calculated to disable or kill, delivered with the speed and force of a thunderbolt.Yet Aji was no ordinary warrior, and he would not be so easily overcome. He moved with an almost casual grace,

“How should I know? This is the first time we have ever faced him—or even laid eyes upon him,” Joyonoto replied, his gaze never straying from the Dragon Earth Sword clutched firmly in Aji’s hand. The legendary weapon seemed to pulse with a life of its own, casting deep crimson shadows across the grass beneath their feet.“But I find it hard to believe that is truly the Dragon Earth Sword,” he continued, his voice low with suspicion. “How could a blade forged in darkness for the dark sect ever come to be wielded by a warrior of the light? Still—be on your guard. Do not let doubt cloud your judgment for even a moment!”The two dark warriors were not entirely ignorant of the blade’s fabled history. Alongside Darmo Jagal, they had been commanded by Ki Tunggul Anom—leader of the central Demon’s Blood Sect—to retrieve the Dragon Earth Tome at any cost. The sword, they had been told, was its inseparable counterpart—a weapon of immense power that could unlock the full potential of the tome’s

  • The Transformation

“How is it possible for you to wield the Flame Shield?” Joyorono could no longer contain his curiosity, breaking the tension with a question that burned with both wonder and suspicion. But the answer he received only served to fuel his rage beyond measure.“I owe you no explanations for matters that do not concern you,” Aji replied coolly, his eyes narrowing as he circled the twins. “Prepare yourselves—this ends now.”“Bastard! Even with your precious shield, we fear nothing!” Joyorono roared, his eyes wide with fury as if he could tear Aji apart with his gaze alone. His emotions had reached their boiling point, and every fiber of his being craved vengeance for the wound his brother had suffered.Meanwhile, with Aji fully occupied by the twin warriors, the delicate balance of the battle began to shift once more in favor of the Demon’s Blood Sect. Their numbers were beginning to overwhelm the Golden Bamboo defenders, who were growing weary from the relentless assault.Watching from her

  • The Twin Warriors

The three companions resumed their interrupted journey without delay. Ratih mounted her great black steed, guiding it with practiced hands along the winding forest path, while Aji and Sakuntala moved alongside her with the effortless grace of those who had mastered the ancient art of lightening the body—their feet barely touching the ground as they glided forward at a pace that would have exhausted ordinary travelers in moments. An hour and a half passed in swift silence, until the ominous premonition that had gnawed at Sakuntala’s heart proved tragically true. In the distance, rising above the treetops like a beacon of home turned to chaos, stood the Golden Bamboo School—and it was under siege by warriors of the Demon’s Blood Sect.In truth, these dark disciples had been dispatched as reinforcements for Darmo Jagal, summoned to aid him in his pursuit of the Dragon Earth Tome. But a fatal error in communication had sent them racing directly to the school instead of intercepting Sakunt

  • Sakuntala vs Darmo Jagal

Turning to face his wife with a look of quiet concern mixed with unwavering trust, Aji spoke in a clear, steady voice. “Stay here and watch over our horses, my love. But should any of these miscreants dare to approach your position—do not hesitate to defend yourself. You have my leave to deal with them as you see fit.”Ratih offered him a warm, confident smile and nodded firmly, her eyes gleaming with the same fire that burned in her husband’s heart. “Do not worry yourself, my dear. I can more than hold my own against scum like these—they shall find that I am not one to be trifled with.”Aji nodded in approval, then shifted his gaze to the score of dark sect warriors massed before him, their faces twisted with malice and greed. Every muscle in his body coiled like a spring, ready to unleash its fury at a moment’s notice.Sakuntala glanced at Aji with a hint of surprise, noting that the young warrior made no move to draw his own blade—the legendary Dragon Earth Sword that hung at his h
