I soared into the sky, the wind rushing against my skin, clearing my mind for a moment. But Cinderella’s words echoed in my ears. Helena doesn’t love you. She doesn’t remember you. Maybe it was true, but I couldn’t let myself believe it. Not now. Not when the world was on the brink of war, and I was supposed to be its savior.

As I descended back to the ground, I saw Derek waiting for me, his arms crossed, and a look of concern etched on his face. “Max, you alright?” he asked.
