"Don’t open that door, Rey!" Elira's voice cracked through the cold chamber like a whip.

But it was too late.

Rey's hand rested on the obsidian handle of the ancient vault door. A tremor ran through his fingertips, up his arm, and into his chest like a second heartbeat—the Dragon System pulsing with urgency.

"Vault recognized," the voice inside him echoed. "Blood of Drakar. Sequence initiated."

With a rumble like the groan of a dying titan, the door split open.

The air shifted. Warmth drained. The stone beneath their feet turned slick with frost. A low, guttural whisper slithered from within—not a voice, but a memory made sound.

Lyra, Zayne, and Elira stood behind Rey, eyes wide with dread. Aeris lingered further back, her hands already glowing with icy sigils.

"What is this place?" Zayne muttered, stepping cautiously inside.

The room beyond the vault was a cathedral of darkness. Its walls were carved in spiraling dragon runes, glowing faintly crimson. In its center sat a chained pede

The war drums had yet to beat, but the fire in Rey’s veins pulsed like they already had. The news of Kaelen’s strike on the Empire stronghold reverberated through every stone and shadow of the Resistance’s temporary sanctuary beneath the Broken Moons Caverns. He hadn’t spoken since the revelation. Since the images of Kaelen — blood-soaked, unrepentant, wielding a corrupted version of the Dragon System — had burned across the sky.Rey stood now before the great pyrelight crystal, hands trembling not from fear, but from fury. His thoughts were a storm, each wave crashing against the shore of betrayal. Juno's bruised words echoed within him:*"Your brother... helped them. Helped them burn us all."Zayne stormed in first."You can’t hesitate anymore," he said. "You heard Juno. Kaelen isn’t your brother anymore—he’s a monster. He needs to die."Rey said nothing.Zayne clenched his fists. "I get it. Family. Blood. But he made his choice. And if you don’t make yours, people are going to die.

  • Kaelen Strikes

The skies over the empire's eastern stronghold of Halcyon Bastion rippled with unease. Midnight clouds twisted like coiling serpents, and the scent of scorched iron crept along the wind. Watchtowers flickered with uneasy flame. Soldiers whispered about omens, about firebirds glimpsed circling above, about tremors felt but never seen.None of them knew what was coming.Inside the command hall, General Tavros stood before a glowing map of the empire's defensive grid. His fingers tapped the hilt of his sword, agitated. “Still no response from Velundar?” he snapped."None, sir," the aide said, swallowing hard. "Council silence. No new orders."Tavros muttered a curse. “They expect us to hold the eastern front with no reinforcements? Preposterous. Tell the scribe to send a raven—"A scream interrupted him.It came from the gate. And then another. And then the sound of fire. Not the crackling of torchlight or the controlled burn of siege weaponry. No. This fire screamed. It howled like it h

  • Return of the Exiled flame

The skies above the Academy of the Seven Towers boiled red with unnatural heat. Rumors had turned into tremors, and the tremors into thunder. And Rey Soren—no, Rayden Drakar—stood alone in the center of the Stone Arena, his shadow swallowed by the flames swirling around him."So this is the boy who thinks himself a dragon," scoffed Kade Vorn from the other end of the dueling ground, golden armor glinting under the firelight. The academy courtyard had never seen such a crowd—instructors, students, spies, even silent agents of the Council hidden behind enchanted masks.Rey didn't reply. The wind around him crackled with embers. His breath tasted of smoke. He looked down at the hilt of Emberclaw, the relic sword now fully awakened, and then at the sea of faces surrounding him.He could still hear Juno's broken voice from the night before:"Your blood burns brighter than ever. But light is a declaration, Rayden. The brighter you burn, the more shadows you'll call."A choice had been made.

  • Fire Reclaimed

The smell of iron clung to Rey's skin.Juno's confession echoed like thunder in his skull."Kaelen helped them, Rey. Your brother struck first."It should’ve been impossible. It should’ve been a lie. But Juno's mangled body told the truth. His scars spoke of betrayal far deeper than Rey had ever imagined. The fire inside him trembled. He stood at the edge of the prison ruin where they had found Juno, ash swirling around his boots, the night sky thick with clouds. Lyra was beside him, her hand in his, but even her warmth couldn't reach the frost forming in his chest.Aunt Elyra—the sister of Seraphina—stood a few feet away, cloaked in shadows. She had been silent since the rescue, watching. Waiting. Like a hawk unsure of her prey.Zayne stood guard nearby, bruised and weary, but alive. Every breath he took was a gift bought with sacrifice.Juno lay unconscious now, wrapped in healing runes etched by Elira. His body wouldn’t last long, they all knew it. But it didn’t matter. What he’d s

  • Reunion in Fire

The prison reeked of rusted iron and burned flesh.Rey moved like a phantom between shadows, Emberclaw’s flame muted to a low, flickering pulse in his palm. Zayne’s breath came in slow, controlled puffs behind him, while Aeris glided across the bloodstained floor like an icy wraith, eyes narrowed and Rune Constructs dancing faintly across her fingertips. The Iron Maw Prison had not seen visitors in a decade—not the kind who came to rescue the dead.Yet here they were.“North wing. Third cell from the bottom,” murmured Elira’s voice in Rey’s ear, speaking through the crystal embedded in his collar. Her words were distant—slurred slightly. The Oracle was still recovering from her injuries during the Black Tower fire. But her sight remained sharper than any eye. They reached the cell.A twisted slab of enchanted steel marked with suppressing glyphs loomed in front of them. Rey raised his hand, the flame of Emberclaw licking up his wrist, burning with quiet sorrow. He didn’t need Elira to

  • The Dragon Rebellion

The night was torn open by firelight. From the shattered edge of the Iron Spire, Rey stood, his chest heaving with the effort of battle. Lyra leaned on him, blood trailing down her arm, eyes flashing with fury and disbelief. Zayne’s clothes were scorched, his fists still glowing with residual flame. Behind them, Aeris limped silently, avoiding their eyes. Her betrayal had nearly broken them, yet she returned. For now, that was enough. The escape from the Iron Spire had not been clean. The guards had swarmed them, triggered by alarms set off when Aeris faked an override to the cell barrier. They fought through spells, arrows, steel. Drax had nearly caught them at the gate, his blade nicking Zayne’s side as they vanished into the sewer tunnels of Velundar. They were fugitives now.The city above roared with activity. Tower bells rang, and skyships hovered like vultures in search of prey. And then they came.It began with a whisper.“Drakar…”From the shadows beyond the sewers, cloaked f
