“If I’m the one paying, is that not allowed?” Fang An retorted.

The innkeeper was startled and quickly tried to stop Fang An from paying the tax that he himself owed.

“Don’t, Sir. Just let them tear this inn down. I can’t bear the situation in this province anymore—it’s been getting quieter by the day.”

Fang An smiled at the innkeeper.

“I understand the situation, Uncle. Soon, this province will be bustling again.”

The innkeeper frowned in confusion. He had no idea why Fang An spoke with such certainty.

“He owes three silver coins. If you can pay it, pay it now!” one soldier said with a mocking tone.

“Is that all?” Fang An pulled out his money pouch filled with dozens of gold coins. He took out one gold coin and handed it to the soldier.

“Keep the change, Uncle,” Fang An added.

The two soldiers were taken aback. The young man before them wore shabby clothes, yet he casually handed over a gold coin.

They had not expected that someone who looked like an ordinary commoner would have such

  • The Appearance of A Fu

The five black-clad figures who had been thrown far back earlier had now regrouped behind the old man. Though badly injured from the recent clash, they still managed to stay alive.“Master…!” they called out in unison.“What were you doing to this young warrior, my disciples?”“We only tried to stop him from going deeper into the forest, Master,” one of them replied.“You five should never have forced yourselves to fight him! Fortunately, this young warrior was merciful enough not to unleash his full power,” said the old man.“My apologies, Elder. My troops and I were only passing through, we had no intention of causing trouble,” Fang An replied respectfully.“Troops? Where are they?”Fang An turned his head when he heard the sound of galloping hooves drawing near.“Are you all right? What happened?” asked A Long as he leapt from his horse.“It’s nothing, just a misunderstanding.” The old man cut in before Fang An could answer.“Is that really so?” A Long stared at Fang An.“Yes, just

  • Shadow Illusion Technique

“Be careful! If he can see through the Shadow Illusion Technique, then we’ll have to fight hard to defeat him,” said one of the five figures.“You’re right. He’s coming this way, get ready!” replied his companion.“I don’t know what you mean. But if you intend to block my path, I won’t hesitate to kill you!” Fang An’s voice rang out cold and flat.“Don’t get arrogant, warrior. I admit you’re impressive for breaking through our Shadow Illusion Technique—but you haven’t seen our true formation yet!” one of them shot back. “Formation—now!”Two of them immediately launched an attack with incredible speed. Their movements were so fast, precise, and coordinated that Fang An found it difficult at first to counterattack.A third man soon joined in, forcing Fang An to stay on the defensive as attacks rained down in succession. Bit by bit, however, Fang An began to adjust to their rhythm and started landing counterstrikes.General Lao Zun observed the battle from a distance. He had no intention

  • Stubborn

To avoid any misunderstanding, Fang An had already told Sun Zu earlier that A Long was the Crown Prince of the Yuan Dynasty.“Our respects, Your Majesty,” Fang An said with a polite bow.The Queen, who still looked stunning despite her age, smiled warmly. “No need to be so formal, Prince. The Shang Dynasty is far greater than the Tong Dynasty, so it is not fitting for you to treat me so deferentially. Oh, yes—my name is Saraswati, and my lovely daughter here is Sekar Ayu Kinasih.”Fang An smiled warmly at Emperor Siu Wen’s wife.A Long could not take his eyes off the beautiful princess, who, it seemed, was also stealing glances at him. Their eyes met briefly, and both of their faces flushed white with shyness.Love begins with the eyes, then descends into the heart. That was exactly what both A Long and the daughter of Emperor Siu Wen felt at that moment. Their hearts suddenly pounded fast.Dug! Dug! Dug!Two days p

  • Arrest Order

The six soldiers stationed outside were given immediate orders to arrest Chancellor Sung Wei.Escorted by the six soldiers, Sun Zu walked into the main hall—only to be surprised that Duke Tsu Yun was not there.“Where has Chancellor Sung Wei gone, Duke?” Sun Zu asked Tsu Yun.“The Chancellor excused himself to step out for a moment, My Lord. I do not know where he is now,” Tsu Yun replied.“It seems he already knows we intend to arrest him.” Sun Zu clenched his fist tightly.“Soldiers, find him at all costs! Shut the city gates and do not allow anyone to enter or leave without a thorough search!” he commanded. The six soldiers quickly left the hall to carry out the order.Sun Zu felt a pang of guilt for allowing Sung Wei to leave earlier. He should have ordered the guards to stop the Tong Dynasty’s Chancellor from departing. Not

  • Capturing Tsu Yun

Thirty soldiers immediately stormed through the palace gates, fanning out in search of Duke Tsu Yun."Fang An, A Long, let’s head to the hall!" Sun Zu urged.Fang An and A Long nodded, following close behind him.Upon arriving at the hall, Sun Zu’s assumption proved wrong—Duke Tsu Yun was still there. He had stayed put, convinced that his soldiers would be able to kill Sun Zu.Shock flashed across his face as if he were seeing a ghost in broad daylight. But he quickly masked it with a sudden display of politeness."Welcome, Lord Advisor. Why did you not send word that you were coming to Luman Province?""Spare me your courtesy, Tsu Yun. All your crimes have been exposed!" Sun Zu barked."What crimes does Your Excellency mean? I do not understand at all," Tsu Yun replied, feigning innocence."Shall I summon all the soldiers to testify against you, Tsu Yun? If you cooperate and are willing to testify against Prime

  • Surrender or Die

"I would never dare to lie, My Lord. What I saw earlier was Lord Sun Zu with two young men, and one of them had hair as white as snow."Duke Tsu Yun furrowed his brow, wondering what business Sun Zu had in Luman Province.Deep inside, he feared that the same kind of report made against him to Emperor Siu Wen nearly a year ago might happen again. Fortunately, back then Prime Minister Sung Wei was the one ordered to investigate, allowing him to escape punishment."Did he head this way?""It doesn’t seem so, My Lord. I just passed him by.""We can’t be sure what’s on his mind. Deploy the soldiers and monitor his movements. Remember, don’t get caught! But if necessary, kill Sun Zu’s advisor to erase the trail!" Duke Tsu Yun ordered."At once, My Lord," the official replied, bowing respectfully.Duke Tsu Yun could not feel at ease with Sun Zu’s sudden appearance in Luman Province.
