The private infirmary smelled of luxury and something more than was poisonous and dangerous.

His brow arched instantly but he didn't speak.

The people were inside the room, dressed in a white coat. Elais immediately recognized their faces. They are physicians working in Amara's company.

The three Physicians were working on an old man who laid still on a slab with advanced technology connected to his body, his eyes shut tight, seemingly dead except for the slow rise and rise of his chest.

Dr. Greg the chief doctor immediately pulled down his mask, his gloved hand trembling with exhaustion that was obvious in his eyes, sweats shimmered on his temple.

"Ms. Bianca." He called, "I informed you to stay outside we don't know the kind of sickness your your grandfather is Battling with yet. We're trying to be cautious." He and then looked at the young man beside her. His eyes flashed in familiarity and surprise.

"Elias?!" His voice rasped. "What are you doing here?"

"Respect, Greg. It's Mr. Kade." Elais simply said, his hands tucked in his trousers pocket.

Bianca Morreti stepped forward, her expression hard.

"Looks like the both of you know each other." She glanced between them then looked at Dr. Greg again. "You have to step out now. I have brought in someone who is capable to make my grandfather Rise again?"

Dr. Greg arched a brow. "And who is that person, Ms. Bianca because clearly you walked in with just one person which is Elias. I suppose you're not referring to him."

"And what if?" Bianca raised a brow at him.

Dr. Greg let out a sharp laughter that was amusement. He looked at Elias. His finger snapped at him.

"What lies did you tell Ms. Bianca? That you're a physician?" He chuckled. "Ms. Bianca this young man here is nothing but a househusband, Amara Blake's construction worker husband who brings lunch for her during her duty. He's jobless and uneducated so I don't know what language he spoke to you to twist your sense of understanding into believing he has a medical knowledge."

Dr. Greg is a married man, but he still had his eyes on beautiful women like Bianca Morreti and so he'd been working tirelessly to prove he had the skill to cure her grandfather despite to win her favor. Maybe Bianca would finally see his worth. But the old man's sickness is mysterious.

Bianca stood her ground firmly.

"That is left for me to decide, Mr. Greg." She said. "Step out. Now." Her voice was held command and slight arrogance.

"Ms. Bianca you really need to listen to me," Dr. Greg persisted. "I know this man here very well. His wife is the best doctor in this city, and I am his deputy assistant, but he? He's a nobody. He must have tricked and come here instead of his wife to scam you."

Bianca's expression changed noticeably on hearing that Elias was married.

"We're divorced. I have no relationship with the woman you called your Boss anymore." Elias' voice was cold indifferent.

Relief flooded Bianca's face. She should have perhaps felt pity for him, but strangely she was happy about his divorce.

"I told you to step aside, Greg!" Bianca's Voice went form cold to ice now. "Don't make me repeat myself. You're getting on my nerves already."

And yet, Dr. Greg stood his ground trying to convince her and humiliate Elias.

"Let's say I step out because of you," He said, "I can't allow him to ruin the work I have been doing all along. If something should happen to your grandfather while he's at it, I'll be blamed too! And you'll also be blamed by your family too if things go wrong. Think about this, Ms. Bianca. I care about you." His voice surprisingly softened, almost romantic.

He spun to Elias. His finger snapped at him angrily.

"And you... you'll be locked up for murder. Amara's reputation will take a hit because you'll technically dragged her name into your error. So, walk out of here while you still can!"

"Are you," Bianca's eyes darkened in anger. "perhaps threatening my guest in my face? Are you nut?!"

Dr. Greg's eyes widened in shock. Then something close to jealousy flashed in his eyes seeing Bianca stand to denfend Elias.

"I'm sorry, Ms. Bianca..I'm sorry. I'm only looking out for you." He directed his anger and bitterness to Elias now. I'll step out if this place with my team if this he can prove himself worthy." He said, smirking in mock amusement, solidly confident that Elias was going to fail. He must have been memorizing some theories from Amara's work which gave him the confidence. He wanted Elais embarrassed in front of Bianca and Bianca would see he was really looking out for her.

"I am not here for your petty talk, Greg." Elias responded, an edge in his voice. "but if you're so willing to embarrass yourself then I'll play in your game." He said confidently.

Dr. Greg Chuckled awkwardly, slightly caught off guard by his confidence when he should have back out immediately.

His smirked sharply. "I'll gladly retire myself immediately if you make the old man wake up."

His team gasped in shock.

He'd given every treatment he knew to the old man but he was still not responding so that gives him the solid assurance that a person without any practical knowledge about medicine like Elias was going to fail. "But let me remind you that this isn't your mechanic stall or car parts repair. You're getting locked up in jail for violating medical ethics and standards if anything goes wrong in this room. I have the number of the President of the National Medical Ethics bureau."

"You're threading on a landmine, boy."

Bianca stiffened at the side.

She'd read about the legendary doctor's exceptional ability but she was yet to witness it. Even though she dislikes the growing tension and challenge in the room, it was a way of knowing if truly— Elias was the legendary doctor.

"You're standing on one already, Greg." Elias smirked— faintly.

And so he stepped forward to the slab boldly.

  • TRIPPING HEIRESS

"How long have you been watching?" She dried her wet palm with a towel and turned to him, smiling. Elias leaned against the door frame casually. "Long enough to know you didn't shed tears while cutting those Onions." Bianca chuckled. "Do you?" "I love Onions— in food of course but I hate chopping them. Makes me shed tears I never intended." Bianca laughed. "What other things make you cry aside onions? Like the woman you love breaking your heart?" Elias' smile died slowly. "I'm..I'm sorry.. Didn't mean to hit a nerve." Elias nodded. "You didn't," He said with a quiet voice, unbothered about Amara— he was just disappointed he did all he did for the wrong woman. "She just hadn't done all of this for once. I mean the petty things that matter in a marriage." Bianca raised a brow in surprise. "Then what's she up to?" "Chasing her dream, building her career, and when she had the tower standing, she said I am not in her league anymore. I supported her." Elias shrugged, intentiona

Bianca's cheek flushed in embarrassment. "I need to go now, Papa," she quickly said, avoiding his grandfather's gaze. "Tomorrow will get the herbs to flush the poison from your blood." She said and immediately stepped out from the old man's study. She closed the door behind her and let out a sharp exhale feeling her heart racing. "Get over yourself, Bianca." She placed a palm over her chest to steady her breath and let out a soft and exhale. She stepped out of the house with Elias. "Where will you be going from here, Mr. Kade?" She asked in concern. "I heard you just divorced." "I'll look for a place." Elias simply said. Bianca nodded but she wasn't satisfied. She pulled out two black cards from her pocket. One is a Master card stocked with $10 million grands and the other Card is an access card to the Morreti's properties across the city. It had gold lettering embossed at the centre. "My grandfather asked me to give you both. You'll have free access to any of our fa

  • THE NINE VEINS VENOM

Elias walked to the slab where the old man lay motionless. His eyes, trained sharper than any advanced cutting-edge technology with ancient technique that most people had forgotten assessed him keenly. Silence fell over the room except for the steady beeping of the heart monitor displaying analysis that suggested life was hanging on a very slim thread that made snapping so-soon inevitable. Dr. Greg watched Elias with arms folded across his chest, his smirk sharp. He chuckled softly, shaking his head and waiting for the moment Elias would eventually humiliate himself. Bianca stood in a straight posture, her eyes never blinking from Elias. The old man's breathing was slow— too slow that suggested whatever was going on through his body was diminishing his heart function, his face paled as though somehow in his paralyzed state, he was in the land of ghosts. Elias pressed two fingers on his neck to feel his pulse. His eyes narrowed, his expression cracking in genuine surprise. Dr. Gr
