Julian's fingers rested on the door handle.

For a moment, he didn't move.

The house was completely silent.

Behind him, Sarah held Lily close, both of them watching him with worried expressions.

Another knock echoed through the room.

Knock. Knock. Knock.

Julian slowly turned the handle.

The door opened.

A man stood outside.

He was tall and broad-shouldered, wearing a dark jacket that was slightly damp from the night air. His black hair fell loosely over his forehead, and a faint scar ran from the corner of his eyebrow toward his cheek.

His eyes immediately settled on Julian.

Neither of them spoke.

Julian studied him carefully.

The man looked ordinary.

But he wasn't.

There was a faint spiritual fluctuation hidden beneath his body.

A cultivator.

Julian's expression remained calm.

"Can I help you?"

The man's gaze shifted past him.

For a brief moment, his eyes landed on Sarah and Lily.

Then he looked back at Julian.

"I'm looking for Ethan Carter."

Julian's eyes narrowed.

"Why?"

The man's expression didn't change.

"I need to speak with him."

"About what?"

A short silence followed.

"Your father."

Sarah suddenly stepped forward.

Her face had gone pale.

"Don't mention him."

The man looked at her.

"You knew this day would come."

Sarah's hands trembled.

Julian noticed immediately.

His eyes became colder.

There was clearly something Sarah wasn't telling him.

He turned toward her.

"Mom?"

Sarah looked away.

The visitor spoke again.

"Your father left something behind."

Julian's attention returned to him.

"What did he leave?"

The man's eyes hardened.

"I can't discuss that here."

Julian almost laughed.

"You came to my house in the middle of the night, mentioned my missing father, and now you're telling me you can't talk?"

The man stared at him.

"You've changed."

Julian's expression froze slightly.

"What did you say?"

The man seemed to realize his mistake.

He quickly stepped back.

"Forget it."

He turned to leave.

Julian moved forward.

"Wait."

The man stopped.

Julian's gaze sharpened.

"You know something about my father."

The man remained silent.

"Then tell me."

The man's jaw tightened.

"Your father disappeared for a reason."

"What reason?"

"He found something he shouldn't have."

Julian's eyes narrowed.

"The formation?"

The man's expression changed.

For the first time, genuine surprise appeared in his eyes.

"You know about it?"

Julian said nothing.

The man stared at him for several seconds.

Then he whispered,

"You really don't know what you've inherited."

Before Julian could ask another question, the man turned and walked away.

Julian stepped outside.

"Who are you?"

The man stopped without looking back.

"My name doesn't matter."

He glanced over his shoulder.

"What matters is this."

His expression became serious.

"If you want your family to remain safe, stop looking into your father's disappearance."

Then he disappeared into the darkness.

Julian stood silently at the doorway.

His eyes followed the man's retreating figure until it vanished from sight.

Behind him, Sarah began to cry quietly.

Julian turned.

"Mom."

She wiped her eyes quickly.

"Please, Ethan."

Her voice trembled.

"Don't ask questions about your father."

Julian stared at her.

He could see the fear in her face.

But now he knew something for certain.

Ethan's father hadn't simply abandoned his family.

He had been involved in something much bigger.

Julian looked toward the dark street.

The mysterious formation.

The object beneath the house.

His father's disappearance.

They were connected.

And someone was afraid that Julian would uncover the truth.

A faint smile appeared on his lips.

He had been told to stop searching.

That only made him more determined.

"Then I'll find the truth myself."
