THE TRANSITION

CHAPTER 8

As they were waiting for a miracle to see their old man stand,

Dr. Maxi on the other hand was against it.

After coughing and resting for a while Mr. Welly who was laying helplessly on the bed started moving his body from left to right trying to stand on his own but he failed and went back to lie on the bed.

They were in a dilemma now since Churchill told them their master was going to stand for 1 minute after taking the medicine.

Realizing how things were going he told them not to worry they should give him a few minutes because the medicine he has given him will take time to work as a result of the previously prescribed medicine from the hospital.

Dr. Maxi was happy when Mr. Welly started coughing, he moved to the center of the room and said

“ I said it but you didn’t believe me now see what he has caused how motionless our old man is.

He can’t even open his eyes not to speak of talking I warned you all and I know you won’t blame me if anything should happen to Mr. Welly.

It's past the time you set and you are giving another excuse…..

Hey young man you better prepare because the police would be here soon for fraud and murder and by the time you return you would advise yourself to respect professional doctors.

As he was talking with boldness he had a change in his facial expression, because 5 minutes after Churchill had talked to the family,

Mr. Welly started to move his body again from side to side on the bed he rise and sat on the bed looking at his family’s faces one by one.

Keeping them in suspense for a while the old man stood up at once and started smiling.

Seeing the old man stand they jumped with joy and shouted

“ Unbelievable!!!

What just happened?”

They whispered to each other in surprise indeed they were happy to see their master on his feet again after everything he has been through.

Mr. Welly stood up from the bed with joy written all over him he had hope in Churchill and he was his last stop after all.

Churchill glared at Mr. Wallace with a smile and both gave a thumbs up for the good work done.

The family went to Churchill and thanked him for saving the head of the family, they were much grateful for what Churchill has done some knelt to show appreciation. They normally see such things on TV

Mr. Welly hugged Churchill tight and warmly as he shed tears of joy what happened was like a miracle which they couldn’t believe

“ We all thought hope was lost because, in the hospital, they could not tell me exactly what was wrong with me after all the screening and scanning conducted.

I asked them several times but no answer I was moved from hospital to hospital but had no improvement and was only given painkillers to serve as first aid anytime things get worse which was not effective because things go back to how it was before.

Finally, I was asked to come home with this same disease I took there.

When we got home I didn’t know what happened I just found myself surrounded by everyone and was told I fainted.

Hurriedly I asked the housekeeper, Mr. Wallace, to come and look for you because I remembered how you saved me two times on the plane and at the airport also when you told me you can cure this disease but I doubted you which am sorry.”

Mr. Welly cried

Dr. Maxi could not believe his eyes

“ did he just stand!?

Oh..my…my…!

He asked himself.

He felt embarrassed and remembered what he said earlier that he would leave the place right away when Churchill can cure Mr. Welly in a few minutes.

When the family was showering praises on Churchill, Dr. Maxi decided to leave the house as he promised. As he was about to leave, Churchill stopped him by blocking the way and giving him eye contact but Dr. Maxi was not getting what he means.

“ I can see you are happy to see the results of my medicine….. now that you have witnessed what I can do, you can look for me anytime when you encounter any difficulty in the hospital…

And are you sure you haven’t forgotten anything now that you are leaving?” he chuckled

Mr. Wallace whispered,

“ The one million dollars you promised Dr.”

They all whirled to where Dr. Maxi was standing waiting for him to fulfill what he said.

He realized all eyes were on him which made his face change to a furious being, rashly he took his brown wallet from his back pocket and removed a bank card.

When he walked to Churchill he threw the bank card to him in his face and told him the password.

“I can get more of this when am welcomed at your hospital to treat patients with my medicine.” He teased

Dr. Maxi walked away afterward and never looked back

Churchill whispered

“Thank you, Dr. Maxi….in the air”,

He was not bothered about Dr.Maxi’s attitude because he has gotten what he promised which made him a winner in the game Dr. Maxi started.

After the doctor had left, Churchill took a good look at the bank card. He was extremely happy because he was not expecting to earn this huge amount of money over this small thing he has been doing in the mountains for several years for free.

He was overjoyed inside and out if he had this money his girlfriend Meena wouldn’t have left for a rich guy.

As they were jubilating, Lina who is Mr. Welly’s daughter entered the room, to her surprise she saw her father stand up she shouted

“ Daddy..!!”

Everyone turned in her direction as she ran to hug her father whose arms were wide open to receive her daughter she was indeed amazed because before she left the house in the morning, her father’s condition was not encouraging.

She meets her father stood up was never in mind since they have been to different and famous hospitals but no good results came.

She asked her father what happened. Mr. Welly sat her down and said

“ My dear you remember the last time I told you about a man that saved me at the airport?

He is the man and he is called Churchill my savior.

When you left the house in the morning I didn’t want to worry you so I sent Mr. Wallace to go and bring him and lo and behold he was here to cure me.

Now my dear am fit as a fiddle I can move my legs, shake them and move around all thanks to this young man.”

Lina stood up and went to where Churchill was standing in a humble way she bent and thanked Churchill for saving her father’s life.

Churchill smiled and shook his head he told them

“ there is no need to thank me because this

Disease has been recovered yet we still have a lot to do…..”
