The towering crystal chandeliers of the grand hall suddenly dimmed into total darkness, leaving only a single, brilliant white spotlight illuminating the center of the stage.
President Iris stood directly under the beam, holding the microphone as her voice echoed through the breathless silence of the ballroom.
"Ladies and gentlemen, pillars of our economic future," Iris announced with absolute authority. "The enterprise names announced tonight are Vanguard Apex's future strategic partners, and each will receive an initial contract worth ten million dollars. For the subsequent contract signing and processing, please contact my personal assistant tomorrow morning. And now...please welcome our company's supreme boss, the true master of the Lancaster Empire, to come up and deliver his inaugural speech."
Beside the VIP table, Lorenzo Lancaster calmly set his cloth napkin down on the glass. The gentle, unbothered student persona he had worn like a heavy coat for years completely melted away, revealing the cold, unyielding iron of a sovereign.
He turned his eyes toward Roxana, his gaze softening for a fraction of a second as he gently squeezed her cold fingers one last time.
"Watch closely," he whispered, his voice smooth and steady. "I told you the universe favors the brave."
Lorenzo stood up, his tall, imposing figure slicing through the shadows of the VIP lounge. Buttoning his simple jacket, he took an unshakeable, royal stride forward, walking straight into the blinding white spotlight toward the center of the stage.
Chloe’s eyes bulged as she watched him move. Her shock quickly twisted into aggressive, arrogant mockery.
She lunged over the edge of the VIP lounge, her voice a piercing screech. "Lorenzo, sit your broke ass down! They called for the supreme boss of the Lancaster Empire, not a penniless student! Have you completely lost your mind?"
Justin stepped into the aisle, pointing a shaking finger at Lorenzo’s back. "How dare you pretend to be the boss of Vanguard Apex? Guards! Someone grab this delusional psycho and throw him out before he ruins the entire event!"
Lorenzo didn’t even pause. He completely ignored their shouting. As he reached the steps, President Iris stepped down slightly, meeting him halfway and bowing her head in total deference as they exchanged a few quiet, hurried whispers.
Seeing this, Chloe didn't feel dread; instead, she sneered loudly, questioning his identity with utter contempt.
"Look at him trying to put on a show! What a joke!" She turned to Justin, nudging him proudly. "Tell them, Justin! Tell this fraud that you are the true son of the wealthiest man and the controller of this company!"
Justin’s heart nearly stopped. In a panic, he violently covered her mouth again, his entire body trembling as he nervously repeated his excuse in a frantic whisper. "I told you to shut up! I cannot expose my identity here or I will die terribly! Do you want to get me killed?!"
Chloe grunted, annoyed, but stopped speaking loudly. She settled for throwing a bitter sneer across the table at Roxana. "It doesn't matter," she whispered maliciously.
"Any second now, the host and the security are going to drive your pathetic boyfriend off that stage. You can prepare to embarrass yourself right along with him."
Roxana paid her no attention, her eyes locked onto Lorenzo's back. A suffocating wave of worry washed over her. She genuinely believed Lorenzo was taking immense, dangerous risks just to protect her company's honor.
Unable to bear it any longer, Roxana snapped back at Chloe, her voice trembling with emotion. "All of this is my fault!"
Turning her eyes to Justin, she practically begged, "Please, I'm begging you, just don't expose his identity to the security guards.."
Chloe didn't speak again. She merely crossed her arms, looking up at Lorenzo on the stage with absolute contempt, eagerly waiting for the grand security team to drag him down and make a complete fool out of him.
On stage, President Iris stepped up to the podium, her sharp gaze sweeping over the audience before she spoke into the microphone, her voice piercing through Chloe’s thoughts and causing the entire room to fall into a breathless silence.
"Ladies and gentlemen, please accept our sincere apologies for the brief inconvenience and drama caused this evening," Iris announced smoothly, her professional composure flawless. "Without further ado...let's welcome the true master of the Lancaster Empire to begin his address."

Project Aetheria.
Dust motes danced in the dim light as Roxana unfolded the parchment. Her mother’s distinctive, elegant cursive stretched across the top margin, but beneath it lay rows of complex technical schematics and official seals from five of the capital's most prominent founding families.Lorenzo leaned closer, his sharp eyes taking in the header. "Project Aetheria," he read softly."I’ve never heard of it," Roxana murmured, her voice laced with deep confusion. She flipped to the second page, where official bank ledgers and corporate registries were clipped together. "My father always told me my mother spent her final years running a small, failing logistics firm. But this...this shows she was the chief architect behind a multi-billion-yuan infrastructure project.""A project involving five distinct family trusts," Lorenzo observed, pointing to the faded insignias stamped along the bottom of the deed. "Look at the dates. It was launched fifteen years ago, intended to build a revolutionary clean

The line clicked softly as President Iris came back on the air, her voice rapid, and strained with intensity."Mr. Lancaster, I’ve completed the trace across the offshore clearing houses," Iris reported, the clatter of high-speed data terminals audible behind her."The capital used to buy out Vance Tech’s suppliers and trigger the Commerce Bank freeze didn't originate from Chloe or the domestic Vance group. It was routed through five separate holding entities in the Cayman Islands, all resolving back to a hidden conglomerate registered as Orion Capital."Lorenzo stood by the tall, tinted glass of his private office, looking out over the sprawling city skyline. His dark eyes narrowed slightly as the name echoed through the receiver."Orion Capital," Lorenzo murmured, his voice dropping into a quiet tone. "Check the secondary liquidity routing. Did they use staggered multi-tier escrow transfers with a twelve-hour clearing delay?"There was a brief pause on the line, followed by a sharp
Coordinated Strike.
The wooden desk inside the executive suite of Vance Tech was piled high with financial ledgers, bank notices, and termination letters.Morning sunlight filtered through the floor-to-ceiling windows, but inside the office, the atmosphere was thick with tension.Roxana rubbed her throbbing temples, staring down at the glowing laptop screen. Just forty-eight hours ago, the first major installment payment from Vanguard Apex had cleared. It was supposed to be the lifeline Vance Tech desperately needed—a massive injection of capital that would stabilize their operations, clear debts, and firmly secure their standing in the commercial sector.Instead, the moment the funds hit, chaos erupted across every division. Her phone buzzed violently against the desk for the twentieth time that morning. It was her chief procurement officer, his voice cracking with panic over the receiver."Miss Roxana! Three of our primary component suppliers just sent formal termination notices! They’re pulling out of

The fluorescent lights cast red and blue lights on the wet asphalt of the central precinct.Maya walked down the long corridor, her hand instinctively resting near her hip. The memory of the mountain pass ambush and Villa attack still burned in her mind. She pushed open the heavy wooden door to the Chief’s office.Inside, two senior officers stood around a wide mahogany desk covered in crime scene photographs, ballistics reports, and aerial maps of the mountain pass.Chief Inspector James leaned over the documents, his face drawn in dark lines, while Captain Miller stood near the window with his arms crossed over his chest."Detective Maya," Captain Miller said, his voice deep and stern. He gestured toward the leather chair opposite the desk. "Sit down. We’ve been going over the forensics from the mountain pass."Maya took a seat, straightening her posture despite the deep ache in her shoulders. "Sir. I'm ready to file the formal report on the ambush."Chief Inspector James picked up

Howard’s jaw instantly snapped shut. The voice coming through the speaker belonged to Director Chen—the supreme regional head of the Grand Horizon Management Group, the master holding firm that controlled half the commercial infrastructure in the capital.Every executive in the room recognized that voice instantly; they had spent years trying to secure a five-minute meeting with the man.Lorenzo didn't even pick up the phone. He stood with his hands in his pockets, looking down at the device coldly."Director Chen," Lorenzo commanded smoothly. "Salvador Real Estate has overextended its short-term credit pledges across the regional supply chain to force a municipal takeover. Issue an immediate, full-scale risk audit on all their secondary suppliers. Freeze their credit clearing channels through the Grand Apex holding network effective immediately."There was not a single second of hesitation on the other end of the line."Consider it done, Sir. The credit freeze will execute within thr

The chaotic shouting inside the grand boardroom reached a deafening crescendo. Paper folders were slammed against the long mahogany table, and veins bulged on Vice President Howard’s neck as he pointed a shaking finger at Vivian's face."You've ruined us!" Howard bellowed, his voice echoing off the floor-to-ceiling glass windows overlooking the city skyline. "You let your personal drama drag this entire corporation into the gutter! Hundreds of millions of yuan, gone in an afternoon!"Vivian stood frozen, her hands trembling as she tried to find her voice amidst the wall of hostile rage. Before she could speak, a broad hand rested gently on her shoulder. The firm, warm touch immediately grounded her.Lorenzo stepped smoothly past her, placing himself between Vivian and the furious board members. He stood tall in his simple shirt, his hands casually resting in his trouser pockets, looking completely unbothered by the heavy, suffocating hostility filling the room."That's enough," Lorenz
