"Truth? Since I stepped into this house, I have never lied. It's you who never believed me," Liam said calmly. He felt that this game was getting a bit boring.

Carl looked at Liam's face and sneered, "I’ve never seen such a shameless person, to actually..."

However, Liam didn’t pay any attention to Carl’s words. He bowed to David and said, “I’m sorry, David Grandpa. This involves a life, so I must take my leave early.”

David’s expression darkened slightly. He wasn’t fully convinced by Liam’s words. However, Liam’s unwavering confidence from beginning to end made him question his own judgment.

After a brief pause, he sighed and said, “It’s fine. You can go. Just remember, you still need to go register your marriage with Mia tomorrow.”

Liam gave a slight bow. “No problem, Grandpa. I’ll remember.”

Saying this, Liam quickly walked out of the Stevens mansion and hailed a taxi, heading straight for Chairman Young's mansion.

Liam knocked on the grand door of the mansion. The butler opened it, frowning slightly.

"Sir, I’m sorry, but there’s an urgent matter at home today. Chairman Young is not available to meet with anyone."

Liam replied, "I know. Chairman Young’s daughter is seriously ill, right? I’m the doctor he invited. Please let me in to treat Miss Young."

Thomas looked at Liam with a trace of suspicion, Liam wore cheap clothes and looked quite like a regular person. He wasn’t exactly what was the man was expecting,

“Apologies sir, I’ll have to confirm if you have an appointment with the Young family.”

Liam frowned boldly upon hearing this. The Young’s daughter could possibly die if he didn’t get to her quickly. “There’s a Young girl in there that needs immediate attention, and if she dies while you’re wasting my time, you will be doomed.

Thomas arched his brow, staring at Liam a little closely and said, “Alright, follow me.”

The butler led Liam through the luxurious hallways of the Young’s mansion.

As they reached Natalie’s room, Liam was worried about the current state she was in.

She had a pale face, purple lips, and labored breathing, and Liam knew immediately that he needed to administer treatment quickly or she’d die.

“Mrs. Young,” Thomas called, entering the room with Liam, walking closely behind him, “This is the doctor that Master Young invited. He’s here to examine Natalie’s condition.”

However, Nathalie’s mother, Lisa, was not convinced about Liam.

She could not help staring at him in suspicion, unable to shake the thought that Liam looked too young and nothing like a real doctor. All she saw when she looked at him was a pretentious fraud. A quack doctor.

But still, as she looked at Natalie seeing that her situation was getting worse, she reluctantly gave in,

“Fine. Do whatever you have to do. Just save my daughter.”

Liam glanced again at Natalie and immediately turned to the butler without delay, “I need all these herbs and a bathtub full of water.” He said, listing the names of the herbs, along with their precise measurements.

“Make sure the water temperature is exactly 32 degrees Celsius.” He added quickly.

Lisa folded her arms, looking at Liam skeptically, her suspicions rising.

But with each second that passed, Natalie’s situation was worsening. If she didn’t get treated immediately, she may not survive.

“Alright.” She said reluctantly and turned to the maids.

“Do what he said.” She said, glancing back at Natalie, and her anxiety grew, seeing how much paler her daughter had become in just a few minutes.

“Be quick!” She yelled.

The maids quickly moved to action, but just as they did, the door to Natalie’s room swung open and Michael Young, Lisa’s husband, walked in, followed closely by a well-dressed middle-aged man.

“Honey we’re in luck,” Michael announced

“Mark Barret is here. He’s going to save Natalie.”

He suddenly stopped as his eyes shifted to Liam standing beside Natalie’s bed, surprised to see him there.

“Who’s this?” Michael asked curiously, approaching them.

He had left to go find Mark Barret when he could not immediately get in touch with Liam and was now confused about who he was and why he was there.

Lisa on the other hand was filled with ecstatic joy and relief when she saw Mark. She didn’t really believe Liam was capable of healing her daughter, but now her worries melted away.

Mark Barret was a renowned divine doctor with seasoned experience and a reputation that preceded him, which gave her more assurance that her daughter would be in good hands.

“I’ve reviewed your daughter’s diagnosis while on the way here, Mrs. Young. You have nothing to worry about. I know exactly what her problem is. She’s in good hands now and I’ll have her back to full health within the hour.” Doctor Barret said confidently.

Hearing this, Lisa was filled with anger. She was sure now that Liam was just a quack who had tried to deceive her. She could not believe she almost left her daughter’s life in the hands of someone like him.

The more she thought about it, the more it infuriated her.

“I knew it,” Lisa snapped, glaring at Liam.

“You are just a quack, aren’t you?” She said furrowing her brows, and before Liam could even speak, she quickly called the guards,

“Get this man out of here!”

Then she respectfully turned to Dr Barret, pleading, “Please, save my daughter.”

With an air of pride, Dr Barret nodded, “Do not worry Mrs Young. I’m going to make her better.”

Meanwhile, the entire time, Michael did not bother to stop his wife. In his mind, he had already dismissed Liam. The man looked far too young to be any kind of doctor.

Dr Barret quickly examined Natalie and then pulled a vial of liquid medicine and a syringe from his medical bag.

“Just as I expected. It’s only a minor illness. I’ve treated many people with the same symptoms as your daughter Mr. Young. She’ll be cured once I give her this injection.” He said with confidence.

Lisa was overjoyed, her face flooded with relief. Finally, her daughter was going to get better and it was all thanks to Dr Barret.

“You’re making a mistake,” Liam interjected sharply, then turned towards Lisa with a solemn look.

“Mrs. Young, listen to me. Your daughter’s illness is far more complex than it appears. I’m the only one who can treat her.”

He had recognized the medication Doctor Barret was going to use and immediately knew that it was an incompatible medicine for Natalie’s situation.

This could indeed end badly if the man used the injection on her.

He could not just stand back and watch her die from someone else’s incompetence.

“Shut up you fraud!” Lisa sneered, glaring at Liam angrily.

“This is a real doctor who knows what he’s doing unlike you. Don’t think I don’t see past your dirty intentions with the bathtub and all, you filth!”

Meanwhile, Doctor Barret had drawn the syringe and was about to inject Lisa with the medicine.

Liam furrowed his brows seeing this and spoke up urgently, sounding a cold warning,

“If you give her that injection, it won’t cure her, but will actually put her life at risk.”

“Nectar X20 right? That’s the name of the medicine you’re about to inject her with, right?” He held Doctor Barret’s gaze, unflinching.

Doctor Barret suddenly stopped halfway, surprised that Liam knew the name of the drug.

However, given his reputation, his shock quickly turned to anger.

He quickly became infuriated that a common brat like him would be advising him on what to do.

“Who do you think you are to lecture me?” He chided arrogantly.

Liam didn’t flinch,

“If you inject her with that, she’s going to convulse and then start vomiting blood within ten seconds of administering that drug…” he paused, locking eyes with Lisa.

“This will eventually lead to her death.”

  • The Breaking Point

AriaThe envelope sat on my coffee table like a heavy burden I couldn’t carry anymore. I had stared at it for hours, mentally trying to prepare myself for whatever I would find in there before finally tearing it open, telling myself I was ready. But I wasn’t.My hands trembled as I spread the papers across the glass. Line after line of names filled the page. Half of my executive board. Half! These weren’t strangers or rivals. These were people I had built with, defended in board meetings, and fought for when others wanted them gone. And here they were, exposed in black and white, tied to the betrayal that had been choking me for months. For a long moment, I just sat there staring at the names, not sure what to do. The weight of it was crushing, and it got me wondering. If so many of them had turned, maybe Ellen was right. Maybe the problem wasn’t them. Maybe it was me.And so I curled myself on the couch, replaying every argument, every rushed decision, every time I’d snapped at some

  • Strings in the Dark

EllenThe skyline glittered outside my penthouse, like it knew what I was about to do. I cradled a glass of wine in my hand, swirling the deep red liquid while Lucian’s demand replayed in my head:Get me out, and I’ll keep your secret. The audacity. No one dared to corner me. Not board members, not investors, not family, and certainly not a man in chains. Yet his words had burrowed into me, and no matter how many times I tried to dismiss them, they echoed like a threat I couldn’t mute.I tapped the stem of the glass against my knee and opened my laptop. His freedom… that would be my leverage. If Lucian walked out of prison owing me, he wouldn’t just be an ally, he’d be my insurance policy against Aria. And so I scanned through the group of names on my screen, from lawyers who had hidden scandals to bird members whose careers I’d rescued. Even a government official who’d conveniently “forgotten” to file paperwork after I made it worth his while. One by one, I composed careful messages

  • A Deal in Chains

EllenAfter that night at the charity ball, I couldn’t sleep a wink. I paced my penthouse more and more, the lights of the city glowing outside my window while my own mind replayed Aria’s face over and over. The way she looked at me, with that obvious suspicion in her eyes, like she was seconds away from ripping the truth out of me with her bare hands, made me realize she was too close.I’d been careful for so long. Subtle and precise. But maybe I had underestimated her. She wasn’t as clueless as I had hoped. I thought I could keep her in the dark, circle Zion, and take my time. But now she was digging, and if she kept digging, she’d find me. My slip-ups weren’t little anymore. They were cracks, and I had to be careful of that.I pressed my hand to the back of a chair and forced myself to breathe. No, I couldn’t let her get there first. Not now, not ever. I needed to tilt the game back in my favor, and that meant pulling in someone who could do what I couldn’t: scare her, shake her, d

  • The Unwanted Ally

AriaI thought it would be Pete. When I first saw the car, every part of me was sure it was him even when I walked toward that parked car. The way it sat there in the dark, with its engine humming, and its headlights off, it reeked of Pete’s kind of cowardly theatrics. My pulse was hammering, my palms were damp, but I told myself I could handle him. Whatever this was about. But when the window rolled down, all that bravado died. It wasn’t Pete. It was a face I hadn’t seen in four years. A face I hoped I would never see again. The man leaned into the glow of the dashboard, with a smug half-smile cutting across his face like he’d been waiting for this exact moment. And just like that, my chest felt tight. I was slammed back into memories of alarms screaming, shadows running, the deafening crack of gunfire. These were memories from the Fabergé Egg job. The one that went sideways. The night we barely escaped.I recognize this man because he was the one whose wrath we escaped from that da

  • Fractured

AriaThose words burned like an itch in my throat that I couldn’t reach. I could feel the pride Ellen felt when Zion turned and walked away with her, never looking at me again. The door closed behind me with a dull thud that echoed in my chest louder than it did in the hallway.I stood there, frozen, staring at the polished wooden frame as if it would open again and Zion would come after me, call my name, tell me he hadn’t meant it. But with each second that passed, the silence pressed in heavier, and the truth cut deeper with every breath I took.“Some distance.”His words replayed in my head like a broken record, cruel and steady. He didn’t say it like a demand. No, he didn’t mean it like a punishment, but why did it still feel that way.I pressed a hand against the wall, trying to steady myself as the rush of humiliation hit me. I hadn’t just lost my argument. I hadn’t just been dismissed. She walked away with it. For a moment it almost seemed as if she won. I had walked right into

  • Slinters in the Room

AriaThe second Zion stepped into that room, I felt the ground shift under me. He wasn’t yelling, he wasn’t angry. That was the worst part. He just stood there in his charcoal suit, hands in his pockets, calm as if he had walked into a business meeting instead of a trap. His eyes flicked from Ellen to me, steady but unreadable.“What’s going on here?” he asked again, voice even.I swallowed hard and forced myself to speak before Ellen could twist anything. “I came here because I needed to see you. To talk to you. But then I see her—” I jabbed a finger toward Ellen, “—parading around like she’s your date, like she suddenly owns this company’s reputation. And then she drags me back here like I’m some uninvited guest trying to ruin your night.”Ellen didn’t move. Didn’t even flinch. She just crossed her arms and tilted her head, calm as a saint.“Zion,” I pressed, taking a step closer, “she’s playing a game. Can’t you see that? She’s been inserting herself everywhere around you, around t
