Lucas was in the middle of the hot flames after the explosion. He could feel pain surging inside his body and felt the urge to yell his lungs out, but life was slowly being sucked out of him.

However, just as he was about to close his eyes forever, a mechanical voice resounded from nowhere.

Ding! Ding!

“Host is in a dire situation. Calculating…. Host health has reduced to 9%!”

“In the next ten seconds, Host is going to die.”

“Host can choose either of these options - live or die.”

Huh? Are my senses playing tricks on me or what? What the heck is that voice? Lucas thought deeply and was very doubtful but on second thought, he didn’t want to die. He had so many things to do in life even though he was worthless and had no worth, the fear of death was something enormous that he couldn’t withstand.

“Yes! Yes please, I want to live.” Lucas said hurriedly before time would run out just as the voice had said. But then, even after saying those words, nothing happened. He found himself drowning in an abyss and the next thing, his eyes closed.

…..

“Ahhhhh!” Lucas jumped up with a loud groan. Sweat began to trickle down his face, and it felt like he was being chased miles away without stopping.

His eyes widened, and slowly he drifted back to reality. His senses registered on his surroundings only for him to notice he was in a hospital. A hospital? All the memories of what happened began to flood back into his head.

How his car exploded, how he was at the brink of death and a voice suddenly echoed in his head. He was supposed to be dead right? That had to be a lie. He remembered vividly how the flames burned his skin up, but now he was looking unscathed, there wasn’t a single bruise on him.

“Welcome to the tycoon system!”

“Congrats! Host has achieved level one.”

“Reward… loading….”

“Host has been rewarded with the ownership of Fintech company and has been credited with the sum of two hundred million to spend within two days.”

“Failure to do so would incur a heart seizure.”

The mechanical voice from before resounded making him pause in his tracks. Once again he felt like he was dreaming as he could see an interface in front of him displaying some content.

Crack!

Just then the door came open and a man wearing white rob walked into the place. At first, Lucas thought he would be startled seeing the big screen that popped up in the middle of nowhere but to his surprise, the doctor seemed relaxed and was smiling at him.

“You are awake?” The doctor said.

“Are you not seeing this?” Lucas raised his hand and pointed at the interface which he was still seeing before his eyes.

Tracing his hand, the doctor looked over and didn’t see anything. This was surprising, and he began to think perhaps Lucas was insane, or perhaps he might still be sleeping even in the state he was else why would he show him something that wasn’t there?

“I think your head hurts a lot. Besides, you just got into an accident that might have killed you. I think you should rest a little bit.” The doctor suggested, but Lucas was now too busy with his head to bother about him.

Does this mean I am the only one who can see this? And does this mean I am now the owner of fintech? The company that framed and locked me up for stealing their money? Does this mean I have a hundred million dollars sitting in my account? This isn’t right!

Lucas jumped up from the bed and pulled off the hospital wear he was clad in. To the side, he saw a piece of clothing and quickly wore it. He didn’t know how it got there or who dropped it rather, all he cared about was wearing it and getting out of there.

“Wait what about the bills and so…” The doctor didn’t get to finish his words when Lucas sped out of the ward like a moving bike. In the meantime what he was concerned about was confirming all these things.

Since his phone was broken, he couldn’t have access to his account unless he got home and took his card. Besides, it’s been a while since he saw his wife. She would be worried about his disappearance.

….

Meanwhile, in Parker’s villa

“Tch! Freya forget about that dumb husband of yours. I told you, didn’t I? He is just waiting for an opportunity to leave you. I think he sold your car off, took the money, and left town. That man is so wretched and rotten!” Dianna, spoke sitting next to Freya who had her head buried in her palm thinking about Lucas.

Since yesterday, he has yet to come back home after she asked him to drive back. Until today, he wasn’t back yet and because of how worried she was of him, she couldn’t go to work.

“Mom, don’t say that. Lucas isn’t that type of person.” Freya replied, trying her best to blink back the tears that were fighting to drop from her cheeks.

“Come on don’t be like this. What does that loser have that is making you so sad? Just wait, I know a man named Richard. He is from a wealthy family and is also the heir to an oil and gas company. Do you know what this means? As long as you marry him, we don’t have to live in this house or ask your uncle to keep paying rent for us. We will live in mansions, drive cars, and you won’t even have to work. All you have to do is to sit pretty and serve him well.” Dianna spoke convincingly.

All these while, Lucas had been a hindrance to her and her daughter leaving this poor life. He couldn’t offer them anything, and yet, he was still around. The worst part he was even replying to them. But now things were different. He was gone so it was time to have Freya marry someone rich and worthy to be called a husband.

“No mother!” Freya snatched herself and stood up from the couch. “Lucas is my husband and I believe he hasn’t left me.” She added.

Hearing this, knitted lines formed up on Dianna’s forehead. It seemed she had to break it down to Freya before she would understand.

“Okay, I’ll tell you. Lucas is dead!” Dianna let out the bomb causing Freya to shiver and looked at her with a panicked expression on her face.

“Dead? Lucas is dead? How?” Freya asked, her voice breaking.

“You don’t know? Then I’ll tell you. Yesterday—“

Crack.

However, she hadn’t completed her words when the door was pulled open and a voice roared.

“So it’s you?”

  • Happy at last, the end

That night, Freya wore a sexy lingerie, revealing her perfect body and curves as she set the dining table, while Lucas watched, mesmerized by her body. He leaned back in his chair, a smile tugging at his lips. “How much I’ve missed this,”he thought, the sight of her filling him, something hadn’t felt in a long time.“Everything looks perfect,” Lucas said softly, his voice breaking the quiet. Freya glanced at him, her eyes shining. “I wanted tonight to feel special,” she replied, smoothing the tablecloth with her hand. Lucas stood, unable to stay seated any longer. He walked over and slipped his arms around her from behind, resting his chin lightly on her shoulder. She let out a small laugh, surprised but happy, leaning back against him. “I’ve missed you,” he whispered, his voice low and sincere. Freya turned her head slightly, catching his gaze. “I’ve missed you too,” she said.I smiled wearily as my hand started caressing her bare skin, she inhaled sharply and I could see h

  • Visiting Davis

They had almost walked to their car to leave the Prison, when Lucas slowed down and he looked Freya thoughtfully.“Freya,” he said quietly, “before we leave, I want to see President Davis.” Freya stopped on her tracks, her eyes widening. “Lucas, no. I don’t want you to see him. That man has caused us pain for so long. Why would you want to face him now?” Lucas’s gaze was steady. “Because I need to. I need to look him in the eye and know that he can’t hurt us anymore. There’s nothing to worry about, I promise you.” He answered calmly. Freya shook her head, her grip tightening on his hand. “I don’t trust him. I don’t want you anywhere near him. Haven’t we suffered enough?” Lucas stepped closer, his voice gentle but resolute. “I understand how you feel. But this isn’t about him anymore…it’s about us. I need to do this, for my own peace.”Freya hesitated, her heart pounding. She searched his face, seeing the determination there, and she sighed, her shoulders relaxing. “Alright,”

  • Visiting Dianne

Three days later, the morning air at the airport carried a mix of excitement and sadness. Lucas and Freya walked on either side of Daniel, their steps slow, as if they wanted to stretch out the moments before he had to leave. Daniel held his small suitcase in one hand, his boarding pass tucked neatly into his jacket pocket. He looked calm, but his eyes betrayed a flicker of nerves. Freya glanced at him and smiled softly. “You’re really going back today,” she said, her voice warm but tinged with emotion. Daniel nodded. “Yeah. Work’s waiting. I can’t put it off any longer.” He paused, then added, “But I’ll miss this. I’ll miss you both.” Lucas gave a short laugh, trying to lighten the mood. “Don’t get too sentimental. We’ll be leaving in two days ourselves. Just need to tidy up a few loose ends before we go.” Daniel looked at him with gratitude. “I know. Still, it feels strange. We’ve been together almost every day, and now suddenly we’re scattering again.” They reached the

  • Getting his life back

Daniel pressed the phone tighter against his ear, uncertain if he had caught Camille’s words correctly.“Sorry… could you repeat that?” he asked, his voice carrying a mix of disbelief and hesitation. “I said you back Daniel, not just as my employee, I want to make you a senior advocate. And along with that, I’ll be increasing your salary.” She said clearly for him to hear properly.“You mean… senior advocate? Officially?” He asked after a brief moment of silence, this was too good to be true.“Yes,” Camille replied without hesitation. “Officially. You’ve earned it. Back then, I’ve seen the way you handle cases, the way you stay late, the way you push through even when things look impossible. That kind of commitment deserves recognition, and I want to make sure you’re rewarded for it.” “And it was shame on us for loosing someone as great as you, we should have investigated what happened then properly Daniel, instead of assuming.” She added and Daniel let out a shaky breath. • Please we need you

Two days passed. The trial that had shaken the nation was over. President Davis, once untouchable, had been sentenced to life in prison with no chance of parole.Daniel sat across from Lucas in a quiet room, the tension of the past days finally easing. His hands rested on the table, his eyes distant, heavy with thought. “It’s done,” Daniel said softly. “I cant believe my father has finally gotten justice.” Lucas leaned back, studying him with a steady gaze. “You fought hard for this Lucas. What will you do now?” Daniel hesitated, his voice trembling with uncertainty. “I don’t know. For so long, everything I did was about him, about making sure his death wasn’t forgotten. Now that President Davis is gone, I feel… empty. Like I don’t know who I am without the fight.” Lucas leaned forward, he said calmly. “Then it’s time to live for yourself. Your father wanted you to have a life, not just a battle. You’ve honored him. Now you need to decide what future you want…whether it’s

  • Going somewhere?

The courtroom had already been shaken by the arrests of Davis’ associates, but Gabriel’s lawyer was not finished. He stepped forward once more. “Your Honor,” he said, “we have one final piece of evidence. A video feed.” The judge gave a go ahead and the lights dimmed slightly as the screen flickered to life. The room held its breath. On the screen appeared grainy footage, but clear enough to see the people in it.It was President Davis and his voice rang out, cold and commanding. “Take him out. Make sure he never speaks again.” The camera shifted, showing the moment the order was carried out, Daniel’s father was shot down mercilessly. The courtroom gasped, the horror of the scene pressing down on everyone present. Gabriel’s lawyer turned to the judge. “This footage was given to Lucas by Late Mr Hector. Even in his death he still made sure justice would be served.”Daniel’s face crumpled, grief and rage colliding in his eyes, he bowed his head, unable to watch.“We have one mo
