Chapter 07 - A bet, was it a sure win or .......

Everyone had a shocked expression on their faces seeing the one who raised their hand because it was none other than the beauty of Taylor who volunteered for the job!!

Well...Volunteered would be the wrong word since she had a more shocked expression on her face than everyone else in the conference room currently!

It was when she was lost in her own world thinking about different things that everyone suddenly turned towards her with a shocked expression.

She didn't know why they were looking at her, so she turned to look at Roger who was seated beside her.

But what she saw was her husband holding up something when she saw what exactly he was holding up secretly from under the table, It was actually her own hand!

Roger was holding up her hand secretly by supporting it under the table!

Hestia was thunderstruck realizing why everyone was looking at her this shocked!!

She wanted to pounce on Roger this movement holding his collar to ask 'What the hell are you doing, you mother fuc*er!'

But she controlled herself seeing that everyone's attention was on her!

She gave a wry smile to everyone who was looking at her and turned to face the bastard who was responsible for this.

Roger in response gave her a heartwarmingly warm smile, which only further increased her inner rage.

Everyone thought Hestia was out of her mind!

It wasn't the time to seek the limelight! Other than failing miserably there is nothing she could do!

Emerald group was the biggest company in the White bridge town while the Taylor family was nothing more than an insignificant ant in front of them, no matter who took the job it was bound to fail.

Henry couldn't help but mock her for that, "Hestia, do you really think you can make a deal with Emerald? what gives you such confidence?"

And Erza who was waiting for such a chance couldn't just sit on her seat, "Who do you think you are Hestia? Do you think the Emerald will look at you? Does your mind degraded like that stupid husband beside you?"

Someone else in the conference added, "Erza is right. If Hestia is kicked out of the Emerald like the Moore family, we will become a laughing stock!"

Blood rushed into Hestia's face as she felt her face burning due to embarrassment! She once again glared at Roger who made her stand in a situation like this but all he did was shrug his shoulders which didn't do any good in decreasing her anger.

After marrying Roger, her position in the family plummeted and the other family members also started to ignore them, not just Hestia, even her parents were affected by it.

Hestia wanted to somehow make her parents proud and make them able to stand with their heads held high in front of their families.

But no matter how much she thought, now was not the time for that!!

She looked at her useless husband beside her in annoyance. Why did she space out in the middle of the meeting? Why did this bastard have to raise her hand? And why the hell is she still covering up for him like a fool rather than saying it was Roger who raised her hand?

She felt like her head was going to burst with all the things going on!

Lord Taylor who was listening to the whole conversation was very angry!

No one dared to accept the task when he offered and now that Hestia had come forward herself....well, somewhat herself, they were ridiculing her?

Lord Taylor didn't have much of an impression on Hestia, even though she was such a beauty, she married that useless loser. so he obviously didn't have a good opinion about her. But at this movement, he was glad that at least Heatia came forward to do the task that he himself thought impossible, unlike the other members who were only good at giving him troubles!

he was especially disappointed with Henry whom he thought would follow his word without questions!

Because of this, his opinion about her changed a lot, "Shut up you bastr*ds! You cowards who hid behind your tails just a movement ago are now trying to bully her? that's it, I have decided to pass this task of striking a deal with the Emerald to Hestia!"

Now that milk has been already spilled, Hestia decide to go with the flow and politely responded, "I will do my best, Grandpa"

But Henry wasn't smart enough to shut his mouth!

"You will do your best? then what? you'll embarrass us after you fail", He sneered at Hestia.

This time it wasn't Hestia nor was it Lord Taylor who replied to him, it was Roger who responded to his taunt!

"My my...Why would you taunt her like that, Henry? do you think that the Taylor family is not qualified to have collabration with the Emerald company? or is it that you don't respect Lord Taylor's decision?"

Checkmate!

Henry had never expected such a response when he told that! and the least did he except the one to talk would be Roger! He didn't think that he would have the guts to talk in the family meeting not to mention in such a haughty manner.

Sensing the fury that was slowly starting to burn on Lord Taylor's face, he hurriedly said, "No, No, I didn't mean it like that..."

"Then what? Do you think the Taylor family is low enough for Emerald not to notice?"

Roger didn't give him any chance to say anything as he asked questions after questions.

"No, No, I just thought it was impossible for Hestia to strike the deal with Emerald. that's it!"

But Roger laughed in amusement and said, "What is she does?"

"Huh?", Henry was surprised by the sudden question that came his way...

"I mean what would you do if she can strike the deal with Emerald? would you like to make a bet about if she can or not..."

Roger said looking at his eyes!

"That...."

"What are you chickening out now?" Roger said with a grin plastered on his face.

Falling to his taunts, Henry shouted out loud, "Why would I chicken out? Of course, I am in. what's the wager"

Roger gave a sly smile as he explained, "Well since we both are family, there is no need for us to fight, whoever loses will scrawl at the winner's feet and will accept that he was wrong, how is it?"

Henry grinned coyly, thinking that he was bound to win, "Okay, let's do it! do you think I am scared of your threats?"

Roger nodded in satisfaction and shouted, "Everyone, you all will be witness to this bet! If anyone among us back out, then their mother, father, grandfather, and grandmother would die"

He intentionally emphasized the word grandpa since if Henry decides to chicken out later, He would be meaning to curse Lord Taylor to die, which he obviously wouldn't dare to do.

"Okay!"

Henry said gleaming in joy, thinking that it was a sure-to-win bet little did he know that he fell directly into Roger's trap! poor Henry how would he feel if he get to know that the one he thought was a useless son-in-law was the new Chairman of Emerald and all this drama about the bet was just Roger playing with him?

Anyway, Roger didn't mind him smiling brightly, since the fatter the sheep the more fun it is to slaughter!

Lord Taylor too couldn't care less about the bet, all he wanted was to strike the deal with the Emerald, If the deal was on, he wouldn't mind even if Henry called Roger, daddy, or grandpa. 

Getting up from his seat, he said firmly, "Okay, that's all for today, Hestia, I hope to hear good news soon, dismiss"

saying so he went off and all the family members started to leave one by one.

But Hestia was still standing there shocked, by the whole thing that just happened! She couldn't believe that her useless husband forced her to take on an impossible task, not to mention that he even had the audacity to bet on her winning, where the hell did he get so much bravery from?

Feeling the cold eyes that were staring at him, Roger gulped down his saliva and feigned ignorance as he decide to return to their house silently, or else he feared that the headline "Brutal murder of the Husband by his own wife" may appear on tomorrow's news.
