At the Rodriguez family manor in Avalon City, Albion, a handsome young man rushed into the study carrying a special gift box.
Across the table from William Belmont was a gorgeous lady in a black-fitting lace gown. Just looking at her took William's breath away as she exuded grace and elegance, her beauty like no other. She was the heiress of the Rodriguez family and a star actress in the entertainment industry, Celia Rodriguez, and, most importantly, William's wife. “Apologies for being late, honey.” Williams beamed as he walked over with the gift box before offering it to Celia.“Happy anniversary.” Celia glanced at the gift box coldly before proceeding to hit it aside, sending it flying into a corner. “Did I ask you to get me a gift and even if I did, you planned on giving me an unbranded gift?” “This…” William didn't even know how to react to the aggressive response as he stared at the gift box before glancing back at Celia, demanding an explanation. Snorting derisively, Celia didn't even act like she heard him speak as she tossed a document across the table. “Sign that.” William glanced at the document, then at Celia who had her arms at akimbo. He picked up the document only to see the words, divorce agreement, printed boldly as the heading. “What is this?” “Are you dense, or are you just looking for ways to annoy me?... What does it look like?... I'm divorcing you.” “You're joking right?” William was astonished, unable to accept what was happening. Celia rolled her eyes in indignation as she replied. “Does it look like I'm joking, William?... I'm tired, alright?... Of you and this marriage.” “You are tired?” “Yes, I am tired because you have been nothing but a burden to me. Can't you see?... The gap between us is greater than the distance between the heaven and the earth. We aren't compatible.” Burden?... William couldn't believe what he'd just heard. To think that the woman he had sacrificed everything for would end up calling him a burden. Back when they first met, the Rodriguez family had been in serious debt, and Celia's career as an actress hadn't kicked off yet. If it weren't for him, Celia would have never entered the limelight and the Rodriguez family would have gone bankrupt. There would be no star actress and most importantly, the Rodriguez family of today would not exist! It was because of him that Celia had achieved what she had today yet… she called him a burden. Celia suddenly snapped, jolting him from his reverie. William saw that she was holding up a magazine and on the front cover was her face. “You see this, right?... That's me on the front cover of CnC magazine, one of the top magazines in the city. But what about you?... What have you achieved in our three years together?... All you do is house chores like a common servant. I'm tired and it's time we end this.” “Celia, you are making a huge mistake.” “Am I?” Celia sneered. “I don't think so. I know it's hard for you to accept but the truth is we can't be together anymore.” “After all I've done for you?” William asked as he stared at her deeply as if trying to penetrate her soul. “Ugh, I knew you'd bring that up,” Celia said as she rolled her eyes. “You may have helped me in the past and so, I'm willing to pay you back. Six million dollars as well as a luxury apartment in the city center and a sports car. That should be enough of a repayment, right?” A trace of pain flashed in William's eyes as he remarked. “Celia, if you do this… there's no going back.” “I don't plan to go back, William, this is the end of the road.” Celia coldly replied, her words jabbing into William's heart like cruel knives. She didn't think she was making a mistake after all, she was a successful actress with quite a few awards under her belt while being adored by millions of fans. As for William, he had nothing to his name and was just a mere house husband. A pathetic excuse of a lover and Celia was not willing to accept such a man as a spouse. “I see,” William remarked, his voice low and suppressed. “If you aren't happy with the offering, then you can surely ask for more but of course, don't take things too far.” A long, drawn-out sigh escaped William's lips as he understood that there was no going back from this. Celia's mind was already made up and there was nothing that would change her mind. In her quest to acquire money and power, she had forgotten about the love that they shared and the fact that without him, she wouldn't be where she was today. William was disheartened by this. “Will you sign it?” Celia asked, growing impatient. Silence lingered for a few more seconds before William nodded. “Yeah, but on one condition.” “What?” “Keep your offerings. I don't need them.” After saying that, William signed the documents and prepared to leave. But not before taking one last look at the woman he'd been with for four years. She was a beauty, no doubt, with skin as white as snow along with delicate features. Just as he turned away, Celia called out to him. “Wait.” He turned back, half expecting that she would say it was all a prank, but alas, it was not to be so. “Here.” She pulled off the ring she was wearing and tossed it at William, who caught it before it touched the ground. “Now,” Celia said. “There's nothing between us.”

Avoiding a collision
“Bastard!”Even after Donald’s figure disappeared into the night, Victor’s chest was still heaving up and down vigorously. He was clearly still livid.“How on earth did I give birth to such a dimwit? What a great misfortune for my family!” Victor rattled on, his face full of disappointment about Donald.William wanted to comfort Victor, but he didn’t know how to start. After all, Donald was really foolish beyond William’s expectations, and he could fully imagine how frustrated Victor was now.He knew that Donald was prejudiced against him and would definitely try to find trouble with him.But he didn’t expect that Donald would actually barge into Victor’s residence and criticize him right in front of Victor.William didn’t know what to say about his behavior.“William, I’m really sorry. It’s my lack of proper discipline that resulted in my son saying such unpleasant things to you. Please don’t take it to heart!” Victor said to William apologetically.William shook his head. “It’s fine
Extreme prejudice
The bracelet was from the Emerald Garden, so it had to be extremely expensive. But since William could give it away, Victor didn’t bother about whether it was too expensive for William.William was not the kind who would puff himself up, and the friendship between the Lancasters and William was more than that. There was no need for Victor to dwell on such a trivial matter.Victor and William were sitting on the plain tree stump chairs and ate the sweet fruits while chatting and enjoying the night view harmoniously.Suddenly, there was knocking on the wooden door outside the idyllic residence.“Come in!” Victor said casually. The wooden door was opened with a creak, and Donald entered from outside.Victor subconsciously frowned upon seeing his son. “Why are you here? Shouldn’t you be helping Cecilia with the party?”Donald didn’t say anything. Right from the beginning, he was staring at William, who was sitting beside Victor. When Donald saw that a significant portion of the fruit plat
Exchanging gifts
Victor said dotingly while looking at the back of his beautifully dressed granddaughter. After rinsing the basket of fruits under a tap, a servant placed them on a fruit tray, brought it over to the courtyard, and placed it on a stone table under a tree. This resting corner was decorated in an idyllic style, with a small stone table and three antique round tree stumps around it.Victor warmly asked William to sit down on a tree stump. “Quickly take a seat and try the fruits I planted myself. They are definitely better than what you can get elsewhere!”William smiled. “Thank you, Mr. Lancaster. I’m in for a treat today then.”At the same time, in the villa where Donald was…Donald had lost his temper just now from his failed attempts to convince Zayn and Richard to sever ties with William. He had even smashed his phone. He had to down several mouthfuls of tea to calm down.At this moment, the butler-like man who had previously invited William hurriedly came in from outside and reported
The ultimate bliss
After lashing out at Donald, Richard immediately hung up without giving Donald the chance to respond.Holding his phone tightly, Donald stood dumbfounded without reacting for a long time.Richard’s words were still ringing in his ears.As the only son of Victor, the head of the Lancaster family, it had been a long time since Donald had been reprimanded badly and had someone hang up on him.If it were someone else, Donald would have used the power of the Lancasters to kill them. But since he was facing Richard, the helmsman of the Smiths, who had recently risen in strength and was almost on par with the Lancasters, Donald had no choice but to bear with it.If this matter spread to his father’s ears, he would probably say that Richard had done a good job reprimanding him.He might even force him to apologize to Richard. Thus, he could only grit his teeth and tolerate it for now.But Richard’s attitude clearly showed that the Smiths would rather go to war with the Lancasters than sever t
An honored guest
Donald clearly stated his displeasure toward William. In his opinion, William managed to befriend the Khans entirely because he leveraged the power of the Lancasters. As long as he made it clear to the Khans what the Lancasters’ attitude toward William was, he believed that Zayn would draw a clear line with William immediately. He reckoned that Zayn would agree, especially since he had promised some benefits and extended an olive branch. Those wealthy families would eagerly agree immediately.“Mr. Lancaster, I’ve already told you that it’s impossible!” Zayn’s tone became cold and harsh, with extreme determination and some anger.“Regardless of what yours and the Lancasters’ attitude toward Mr. Belmont is, the Khans will never sever ties with Mr. Belmont!“Mr. Lancaster, if you called me today just to talk about this matter, then we don’t need to talk anymore. I still have something important to do, so I’ll hang up now. I’ll visit Mr. Lancaster Sr. another time.”With that, Zayn hung u
Making things clear to a fool
“Do you think I befriended the Khan family, the Smiths, and the others because of the Lancasters?” William suddenly asked.Donald frowned and asked rhetorically, “Isn’t it?”“It’s really true.” William raised his eyebrows and smiled faintly. “In that case, Mr. Lancaster, why don’t you call Mr. Khan and Mr. Smith to ask if they’re friends with me because of the Lancasters?!”He had a look of mockery on his face.He had long guessed it. Donald indeed thought that William had borrowed the Lancasters’ power to establish a relationship with the Khans and the Smiths. Just now, he even accused William of taking advantage of the Lancasters, which was simply hilarious.“Also, I hope that you won’t casually speculate on my intentions. I’m not interested in being your son-in-law, nor am I interested in the Lancasters’ assets. I only treat Cecilia as my younger sister.“As for my friendship with Mr. Lancaster Sr., this is a matter between us. You don’t seem to have any right to interfere, do you
