At the Rodriguez family manor in Avalon City, Albion, a handsome young man rushed into the study carrying a special gift box.

Across the table from William Belmont was a gorgeous lady in a black-fitting lace gown.

Just looking at her took William's breath away as she exuded grace and elegance, her beauty like no other.

She was the heiress of the Rodriguez family and a star actress in the entertainment industry, Celia Rodriguez, and, most importantly, William's wife.

“Apologies for being late, honey.” Williams beamed as he walked over with the gift box before offering it to Celia.“Happy anniversary.”

Celia glanced at the gift box coldly before proceeding to hit it aside, sending it flying into a corner. “Did I ask you to get me a gift and even if I did, you planned on giving me an unbranded gift?”

“This…” William didn't even know how to react to the aggressive response as he stared at the gift box before glancing back at Celia, demanding an explanation.

Snorting derisively, Celia didn't even act like she heard him speak as she tossed a document across the table. “Sign that.”

William glanced at the document, then at Celia who had her arms at akimbo.

He picked up the document only to see the words, divorce agreement, printed boldly as the heading.

“What is this?”

“Are you dense, or are you just looking for ways to annoy me?... What does it look like?... I'm divorcing you.”

“You're joking right?”

William was astonished, unable to accept what was happening.

Celia rolled her eyes in indignation as she replied. “Does it look like I'm joking, William?... I'm tired, alright?... Of you and this marriage.”

“You are tired?”

“Yes, I am tired because you have been nothing but a burden to me. Can't you see?... The gap between us is greater than the distance between the heaven and the earth. We aren't compatible.”

Burden?... William couldn't believe what he'd just heard.

To think that the woman he had sacrificed everything for would end up calling him a burden.

Back when they first met, the Rodriguez family had been in serious debt, and Celia's career as an actress hadn't kicked off yet.

If it weren't for him, Celia would have never entered the limelight and the Rodriguez family would have gone bankrupt.

There would be no star actress and most importantly, the Rodriguez family of today would not exist!

It was because of him that Celia had achieved what she had today yet… she called him a burden.

Celia suddenly snapped, jolting him from his reverie.

William saw that she was holding up a magazine and on the front cover was her face.

“You see this, right?... That's me on the front cover of CnC magazine, one of the top magazines in the city. But what about you?... What have you achieved in our three years together?... All you do is house chores like a common servant. I'm tired and it's time we end this.”

“Celia, you are making a huge mistake.”

“Am I?” Celia sneered. “I don't think so. I know it's hard for you to accept but the truth is we can't be together anymore.”

“After all I've done for you?” William asked as he stared at her deeply as if trying to penetrate her soul.

“Ugh, I knew you'd bring that up,” Celia said as she rolled her eyes. “You may have helped me in the past and so, I'm willing to pay you back. Six million dollars as well as a luxury apartment in the city center and a sports car. That should be enough of a repayment, right?”

A trace of pain flashed in William's eyes as he remarked. “Celia, if you do this… there's no going back.”

“I don't plan to go back, William, this is the end of the road.” Celia coldly replied, her words jabbing into William's heart like cruel knives.

She didn't think she was making a mistake after all, she was a successful actress with quite a few awards under her belt while being adored by millions of fans.

As for William, he had nothing to his name and was just a mere house husband.

A pathetic excuse of a lover and Celia was not willing to accept such a man as a spouse.

“I see,” William remarked, his voice low and suppressed.

“If you aren't happy with the offering, then you can surely ask for more but of course, don't take things too far.”

A long, drawn-out sigh escaped William's lips as he understood that there was no going back from this.

Celia's mind was already made up and there was nothing that would change her mind.

In her quest to acquire money and power, she had forgotten about the love that they shared and the fact that without him, she wouldn't be where she was today.

William was disheartened by this.

“Will you sign it?” Celia asked, growing impatient.

Silence lingered for a few more seconds before William nodded. “Yeah, but on one condition.”

“What?”

“Keep your offerings. I don't need them.”

After saying that, William signed the documents and prepared to leave.

But not before taking one last look at the woman he'd been with for four years.

She was a beauty, no doubt, with skin as white as snow along with delicate features.

Just as he turned away, Celia called out to him. “Wait.”

He turned back, half expecting that she would say it was all a prank, but alas, it was not to be so.

“Here.” She pulled off the ring she was wearing and tossed it at William, who caught it before it touched the ground.

“Now,” Celia said. “There's nothing between us.”

They are in their rooms. I drugged them with enough medicine to knock an elephant out.”“Unfortunately, I don't think that was enough.” A voice suddenly said, causing Caleb to go wide eyed as he glanced back to find William and Zara awake, contrary to his beliefs that they were asleep.“How?”William snorted. “We aren't stupid and you must be foolish if you thought you were fooling anyone with your poor acting.”Caleb naturally felt offended as he la
