Meanwhile, William was on his way to Red Angel Hospital in a luxury Bentley when he got the call from Bella.

His expression shifted ever so slightly but he chose to pick the call.

“Celia…”

“How dare you!”

“What?”

“You know even if I always saw you as a bum and a man lacking ambition, I still told myself that you were a good person, but to think that you would prove me wrong today of all days.”

“Celia, I don't understand.”

“Shut your mouth!... You are a disgusting man. Instead of accepting the divorce with dignity, you attacked Lucas and stole the engagement gift he bought for me.”

William was left completely perplexed at the out of nowhere accusation. “What do you mean by I stole an engagement ring?”

“Don't even try to deny it, the maids already told me everything. Look here, I'm only going to say this once. You'd best return that engagement gift else don't blame me for teaching you a lesson.”

“Celia, what engagement gift?” William questioned in annoyance.

At first, he wished to engage in civil conversation but with Celia being so aggressive, it was clear that there was no way he would be able to defend himself.

For whatever reason, she believed whatever was told to her without taking into account the kind of man he was.

“William, I'm only trying to help you here. The Vasquez family will surely not let you off if they learn that you assaulted Lucas and stole the engagement ring he was with. So do what is right and…”

A beep sound echoed, announcing the end of the call.

Celia was shocked as she realized that William had dropped the call on her.

She was only trying to help him out yet he remained unrepentant.

At least now she understood that she'd made the right choice in divorcing William; after all, his true nature was a vile man who was prone to violence and had no morals.

Such a man was undeserving of her.

Snorting derisively, she muttered. “Well then, don't blame me when trouble comes knocking at your doorstep.”

After saying that, she rushed to join Lucas where he was.

Meanwhile, William let out a bitter laugh after ending the call.

To think that Celia was accusing him so readily without even hearing his side of the story.

It had happened on multiple occasions, with one almost ending with him in jail all because Ava accused him of trying to assault her.

Letting out a sigh, William realized that he'd endured enough.

Now their relationship was over and hopefully, their paths would never cross again.

Celia knocked on the bedroom door and walked in just in time to find Ava adjusting her clothes while Lucas was frowning deeply.

“What did he say?” Lucas asked before Celia could ask what had happened in her absence.

Celia shook her head. “He hung up on me.”

“That disgusting bastard. I just knew he was like that. Celia, let's call the cops on him. He should be taught a lesson for attacking Lucas and robbing him.”

“I think I'll do that.” Celia nodded in agreement.

“There's no need to do that,” Lucas remarked, unwilling to escalate the issue considering it was all based on a lie.

“But still…”

“Don't worry, it's just one bracelet, I can get as many as I want. If he needs it so much, he can have it.” Lucas said, feigning magnanimity.

Ava remarked. “Did you hear that, Celia?... Now you understand why Lucas is a better man than that bum, William.”

“Are you sure?” Celia asked with Lucas nodding.

“Of course, now enough about that, there are more important things to worry about like the gala happening this evening. According to what I heard, there's a valuable piece of land that's rumored to contain a gold mine.”

“Are you serious?” Ava was instantly taken in at the mention of gold.

“Yup and actually, my parents and I plan on purchasing the land and gifting it to you as a wedding gift. What do you think?”

“Oh my goodness, this is amazing!” Ava exclaimed as she imagined the Rodriguez family owning a literal gold mine.

Celia was also surprised as she remarked. “Is this a prank?”

“Of course not. It's meant to be a surprise even, but I thought to share it since you're in such a bad mood because of that useless ex of yours.”

“Thank you so much, Lucas.”

“Why are you thanking me?” Lucas said. “We are about to be married, so what's mine is yours, and what's yours is mine.”

“Indeed, indeed.” Ava supported his claim while nodding vigorously.

At another location, William had just arrived at Red Angel Hospital when John, the person who served as his driver, asked. “Hey, boss, I know I shouldn't be imposing, but are you not going to take any action against the Rodriguez family?”

“There's no need,” William said.

“But those people are so ungrateful. Do they think that they are where they are now because of their strength?... Boss, just give the order and the Rodriguez family will be finished off within minutes.”

“There's no need for that. Since Celia has decided to divorce me in search of greener pastures, that's her luck. I don't have the time to waste seeking revenge on such a materialistic woman.”
