“More like you're too rough. Do you think we are in a Mafia?... What's with the constant urge to be violent?” William said with John quickly responding in a defensive tone.

“Bah, some people deserve it.”

Letting out a slight chuckle, William got out of the car and made his way into the hospital.

Though he was once a doctor at the hospital, he had long since left his post when he got married to Celia and was only here to meet an old friend.

Meanwhile, John, who was walking beside him, drew the attention of several people in the hospital as they began to murmur among themselves.

To think that one of the wealthiest men in the city was walking beside William like an ordinary bodyguard.

“Who is that man?”

“Doesn't he look a lot like the LifeGiver?”

“He does but wasn't it said that the LifeGiver left the country?... There's no way he would return out of the blue.”

Just as he turned a corner, William ran into an old work colleague who had always seen him as a rival though the feeling was most definitely not mutual.

“Oh wow, if it isn't the so-called LifeGiver, what are you doing back here?” Vincent said.

William let out a sigh as he replied. “Came to see an old friend. Heard he's in a critical state.”

“Is that so?... Well, that's quite unfortunate. But I dare say it's not as unfortunate as getting dumped by Miss Celia Rodriguez. Bummer.”

William raised a brow. “How do you know that?”

Vincent grinned as he raised his cell phone. “Bad news travels fast.”

Upon realization that Ava had spread it across her channel, William was left rather perplexed.

Hadn't she warned him not to spread the news yet she was the one doing so?

However, judging from what she'd written, it seemed she had spared no lies to ensure she painted him in a bad light.

William didn't seem bothered as he'd already expected such a thing from Ava.

Meanwhile, Vincent thought that William’s silence meant he was ashamed so he continued. “I do wonder what you plan to do now that your superstar wife is no longer around to back you up?... Hopefully, you kept some savings away, or else you might just have to sleep on the streets. Of course, if you beg me, I might consider asking the director to give you a position in the hospital. How does cleaner sound?”

“Instead of wasting so much time following up on my life like a high school teenager, Vincent, perhaps try to focus on getting better as a doctor, maybe then, you'd be able to finally make something of yourself.” William shot back without hesitation, leaving Vincent embarrassed as he glared at him.

Those who were aware of the rivalry between the two men knew that Vincent had always been jealous of William.

From being so skilled as a doctor to getting married to a woman who would eventually become a superstar.

Why did he have to be so darn lucky?... Vincent couldn't figure out why.

Just then, a group of bodyguards in black suits rushed into the reception, accompanying a young lady with exceptional beauty.

She was nervously carrying a young girl while mumbling something to herself, seemingly praying for the little girl to not die.

It didn't take long for several nurses and doctors to gather as they realized that someone important had entered the hospital.

“Oh my goodness, isn't that Miss Victoria Smith?”

“The same Victoria Smith?... The heiress of the Smith Consortium?”

“I think so.”

“She's so beautiful.”

As the nurses gossiped among themselves, William had to admit that the young lady, Victoria Smith, was indeed quite eye-catching, even more so than Celia, with a curvaceous figure and flowing long hair that exuded a graceful aura.

He recalled that he had seen her once at an event a long time ago, to think that she had changed so much since then.

Now, he was recently divorced, and she was the heiress of one of the largest companies in the city.

In any case, seeing such a beautiful and powerful damsel in distress, the doctors hurried to her aid, with the hospital’s vice president, Damian, quickly making an appearance after learning of Victoria's presence.

“Please save her, she suddenly collapsed.” Victoria pleaded with Damian responding.

“Don't worry, young Miss, now that she's here, I can guarantee you that nothing will happen to her. Just count on me. Our hospital has the finest doctors and I can assure you that only the best would operate on her.”

After saying that, Damian took the young girl in his arms, intending to operate on her himself.

But then, he needed an assistant in the surgical process, and knowing this, several male doctors quickly stepped up in a bid to make a good impression.

Naturally, Vincent was among those who volunteered, as he confidently remarked. “Ma'am, don't worry, with my help, there's no way this little girl would be dying today.”

Upon hearing this, the other doctors felt threatened because Vincent was Damian's son, so the chances of being picked were drastically reduced.

It was a known fact in the hospital that Damian favored his son in such types of situations.

Victoria was hardly in the state to entertain him as she said to Damian. “I only want the best to treat my younger sister, do you understand that?”
