Marco, Sophia, and Megan had decided to part ways and meet Jasper the next day.

But as Marco steered his car toward his family’s mansion, a dull sense of foreboding began to gnaw at him.

Marco’s heart hammered against his ribs. He fought the impulse to flee, but there was nowhere to go.

Then came a sickening crash—an iron baton smashed into the side window.

Glass shards flew like deadly confetti, and he ducked, arms raised defensively.

A rough hand snagged a fistful of his hair, yanking him from the driver’s seat.

Sharp pain exploded through his scalp, and his cry of protest was drowned by the roar of rain and adrenaline.

An elderly man stood over her, tall and broad, his presence heavy and imposing.“I’ve already administered the antidote,” he said calmly. “You should be regaining clarity by now.”She flexed her fingers. Then her arms. The burning heat was gone. The overwhelming urge had vanished. Her body answered her again, fully under her control. Her heart slammed as she turned her head.Count Lorenz lay sprawled on the floor.Blood pooled beneath him, dark and spreading. There was no movement. No breath. He was unmistakably dead.“Who are you?” Sofina asked, her voice tight. The old man stepped back and bowed deeply. “Princess Sofina. You activated the emergency signal. I came immediately to secure your safety.”“Emergency signal?” Her eyes dropped to the bracelet on her wrist. She didn’t remember pressing anything. But fragments rushed back—panic, raw fe

Heat pooled low in her body, fierce and humiliating, stealing her breath. What was happening to her?A terrifying thought slammed into her mind.Did Count Lorenz drug her?She looked at Count Lorenz, and without warning a violent urge surged through her—to want him, to crave him, to have sex with him—this middle-aged man who was objectively ugly, yet twisted by her thoughts into a handsome prince. She understood it then. Her mind had been compromised.Sofina tried to stand, forcing her palms against the armrest. Her legs buckled instantly. They felt weak, useless, like they no longer belonged to her. From the way her body refused to obey, escape was impossible. She was trapped.Watching her struggle, Count Lorenz smiled. It was slow. Satisfied.“Miss Wolfsbane,” he said smoothly, his voice thick with delight. “Everyone in Winchester calls you the most beautiful woman alive. Your reputation is legendary. In another place, Katarina sat with her father, Otto Rosenheim, inside a study.Otto leaned back in his chair, his fingers steepled.“Have you successfully taken Heinrich out of prison?” he asked calmly.“Yes,” Katarina replied without hesitation. “If nothing goes wrong, he’ll be released in a few days.”She paused, then added, “Father, Count Lorenz just messaged me. He has Sofina—the wife of that Alex bastard.”Otto didn’t even blink. He gave a slow, indifferent nod.“Tell him to kill the woman.”Katarina frowned slightly. “What’s your plan?”“Katarina,” Otto said coldly, “in the past, Marquis Saint-Claire and his entire family were destroyed because they offended someone far more powerful than they ever should have.”Katarina’s lips slowly curled into a knowing smile.“More powerful than a Marquis…” she said softly. “Then it has to be a Duke, right? One of the great Dukes who hates Alex Saint-Claire.”“You don’t need to know who,” Otto said coldly. “All you need to understand is thi

You are Sofina’s best friend. You should be kind to Gerhard.”Renata’s eyes turned icy.“Kind?” she snapped, spitting straight into Gerhard’s face. “Kind to the man who nearly got me killed?”Her voice dropped, sharp and venomous. “I don’t want to be kind.
