Ali's fingers trembled slightly as he sat in Dr. Nabil's examination room, the sterile white walls pressing in around him. Hadi leaned against the counter, arms crossed, while Haitham paced nervously near the door. The sounds of medical equipment filled the tense silence.

"So," Dr. Nabil said, adjusting his glasses as he studied the brain scan results, "the chip is still physically present, but we're detecting zero neural activity from it. It's as if..."

"As if someone flipped a switch," Ali finished quietly, his voice hollow. He remembered the flashing red warning that had appeared in his vision just before everything went dark: [SYSTEM SHUT DOWN.]

Haitham stopped pacing. "Try activating your armor now."

Ali focused, reaching for that familiar energy that usually responded to his thoughts. Nothing. Not even a flicker. His stomach twisted.

"It's dead," he whispered.

Hadi pushed off the counter. "That bastard Professor must've remotely deactivated it when Ali got too close t

Ali, Malik, and Marwan practiced their sword drills. The rhythmic clang of steel echoed off the walls while sweat dripped from their brows. Their focused movements spoke of years of discipline and training.A nearby television was turned on, a background noise to their session, with the familiar opening theme of the state news broadcast. The screen showed campaign banners and the familiar face of the long-serving president."The presidential elections will begin next month," the news anchor announced in her usual polished tone. "Campaign rallies are scheduled to—"Malik's sword hit the floor with a clatter as he marched to the television and punched the power button. The screen went dark immediately."What's the point?" Malik growled, his voice thick with frustration. "That walking corpse will win again, just like he has for fifteen straight years. Rigged votes, staged celebrations, nothing ever changes."Marwan wiped his forehead with his sleeve. "I don't give a damn who sits in that

Hazim’s phone buzzed on the table. He picked it up, recognizing the number immediately. It was Jamil. “Brother,” Hazim answered. “How are you holding up?” Jameel’s voice was steady, but there was a quiet tension beneath it. “We’re managing. I spoke to the association—they’re handling the legal side. Lawyers are being hired, and they assured me they’ll fight this in court.” Hazim exhaled. “That’s good. What about your men?” A pause. Then a faint sigh. “Frustrated. Angry, even. Some of them wanted to retaliate right then and there. But I convinced them to stand down. Told them to take breaks, even go on vacations if they can. The last thing we need right now is a clash with the police.” Hazim nodded, though Jameel couldn’t see it. “Smart. You’re keeping them disciplined.” “I have to,” Jameel said simply. “If we lose control now, we lose everything.” They exchanged a few more words before ending the call. Hazim set the phone down, his expression pensive. Hadi, who had bee

The streets of Jenin were filled with the chants of protesters, their voices rising against the recent surge in fuel and electricity prices. Men and women, young and old, held signs aloft, demanding justice as their frustration boiled over. The air was thick with tension and soon, with the acrid sting of tear gas. Police in riot gear moved aggressively through the crowd, batons swinging. A young man, barely more than a teenager, stumbled back as an officer grabbed him by the collar, raising his baton. The boy shielded his face, bracing for the blow. But to his surprise, he wasn't hit. A hand clamped down on the officer’s wrist, stopping him mid-swing. The officer turned, scowling, to see Zain Al Rajih, clad in the armor of the Jenin knights, his expression hard. Without a word, Zain pulled the officer away from the young man, shielding the protester with his body. "Enough," Zain said firmly. The officer shoved him back, his face twisted in anger. "This isn’t your business, kn

Marwan walked up to the familiar house of Hazim and Laith’s grandparents, his heart pounding with nervous excitement. He knocked, and within moments, the door swung open to reveal Hajja Um Salah, her face lighting up at the sight of him. "Marwan! My boy, come in, come in!" she exclaimed, pulling him into a warm embrace. "I’ve missed you so much!" Marwan smiled, returning the hug. "I’ve missed you too. You look well." She patted his cheek affectionately before stepping back. "Where have you been hiding? You never visit us enough!" "I’ll do better, I promise," he said sheepishly. Then, glancing past her, he asked, "Is Hajj Ahmed home?" "Oh yes, he’s in the library, reading as usual." She waved him inside. "Go on, he’ll be happy to see you." Marwan nodded and made his way to the library, pausing at the door to announce himself. "Hajj Ahmed? May I come in?" A deep, warm voice replied, "Marwan? Of course, enter!" Pushing the door open, Marwan found Hajj Ahmed seated in his

Harith was packing his bags to travel with Hamdan to search for the actor and actress who had fled to Europe. His wife stood quietly in the room, not saying a word to him as she watched him pack suddenly. She didn’t ask where he was going or why, didn’t offer to help him pack, didn’t even argue or object to the trip. She remained completely silent. At night, Harith gathered his three children and asked them to sit with him on the couch. His wife was present and sat with them. He explained to his family that he was traveling for an important work trip and might be away for a while—he didn’t know exactly when he would return, maybe a few months, but he promised to call them every day and bring them gifts when he came back. His youngest son, five-year-old Mohammed, asked, "You’re going with your knight friends, right? Are you going to kill monsters?" His father laughed, pulled the boy into his lap, and told him no, he was going for a different kind of work, and unfortunately, they

The first thing Ali woke up to was his mother asking him about Haneen and whether he had liked the girl. He told her that she was a nice and smart girl, Mashallah. His mother's face light up, she said with a happy grin, "Excellent! Then just give me a date when you're not busy and we can go again with your father and your uncles to formally ask for her hand." Ali was shocked by his mother’s eagerness , "Wait a minute, why the sudden rush? Are you really going to marry me off to her just like that?" His mother raises an eyebrow, "That’s how our traditions are. I was younger than you when I married your father—I barely saw him once or twice before we got married." Ali protested "That doesn’t work for me. We need to get to know each other properly first." She responded, "No problem, you’ll get to know each other during the engagement. We’ll let you have a proper engagement period—you’ll exchange rings, go out, and spend time together. If you don’t click, then you can call it off.
