The moment Ethan confirmed the evolution, the world around him seemed to freeze.

Ash's body began to tremble.

A faint silver light spread across the wolf's injured body, wrapping around it like a cocoon.

Ethan stared in disbelief.

“What is happening?”

The old caretaker rushed over.

“What did you do?”

Ethan stepped back.

“I... I don't know.”

The caretaker looked at Ash.

His expression changed.

“That beast was dying a moment ago.”

Ash's breathing had already become weak.

But now—

Thump.

Thump.

Thump.

Its heartbeat grew louder.

The wolf's body suddenly lifted from the ground.

A powerful wave of energy exploded from it.

BOOM!

The cage shattered.

The caretaker stumbled backward.

“What the hell?!”

Ethan shielded his face from the dust.

Inside the cloud of debris, two golden eyes opened.

Ash slowly stood.

The wounds covering its body began closing one after another.

Broken bones straightened.

Its gray fur fell away in patches, replaced by darker, thicker fur.

Muscles expanded beneath its skin.

Its claws became sharper.

Its body grew larger.

Ethan's mouth fell open.

This wasn't the same wolf anymore.

A notification appeared before him.

[Ding!]

[Evolution successful.]

[Beast: Ash]

[Species: Gray Wolf → Ironclaw Wolf]

[Rank: F → E]

[Level: 1 → 5]

[Strength: Increased]

[Agility: Increased]

[Defense: Increased]

[Recovery: Increased]

[New Skill acquired: Ironclaw]

[Hidden potential detected.]

[Further evolution is possible.]

Ethan stared at the screen.

“Further evolution...?”

His heart raced.

The system wasn't lying.

His Beast Evolution talent really could evolve beasts.

And it had just taken a dying wolf and turned it into an E-Rank beast.

The caretaker slowly approached.

He stared at Ash as though he were looking at a monster from a nightmare.

“Ironclaw Wolf…”

His voice trembled.

“How is that possible?”

Ethan didn't answer.

He couldn't.

He was too shocked himself.

Ash took a step forward.

Its massive paws pressed against the broken floor.

The wolf was now almost as tall as Ethan's waist.

Its golden eyes remained fixed on him.

Ethan slowly stretched out his hand.

“Ash?”

The wolf lowered its head.

Ethan placed his palm against its forehead.

A strange warmth flowed through his body.

Then another notification appeared.

[Contract synchronization complete.]

[Host and beast connection established.]

[Would you like to view Ash's status?]

“Yes.”

A new screen appeared.

[Beast Status]

Name: Ash

Species: Ironclaw Wolf

Rank: E-Rank

Level: 5

Strength: 31

Agility: 36

Defense: 24

Vitality: 29

Skills:

Ironclaw — Allows the beast's claws to become harder and sharper than steel.

Ethan's eyes widened.

The numbers were incredible.

An ordinary F-Rank wolf would never possess this kind of strength.

And Ash had started as a dying beast.

What would happen if he continued evolving?

A smile slowly appeared on Ethan's face.

Then—

BOOM!

The shelter doors exploded inward.

Ethan immediately turned around.

Ash growled.

Several men wearing black armor rushed into the building.

At their front was a tall young man holding a silver spear.

“Everyone stay where you are!”

The man's eyes scanned the room.

Then they landed on Ash.

His expression changed.

“An Ironclaw Wolf?”

He looked at Ethan.

“Where did you get that beast?”

Ethan stepped in front of Ash.

“It's mine.”

The man's eyes narrowed.

“You're a newly awakened Beast Master.”

It wasn't a question.

Ethan remained silent.

The man looked at the shattered cage.

Then at Ash.

Then back at Ethan.

“You awakened today, didn't you?”

“Yes.”

“And you already have an E-Rank beast?”

Ethan didn't respond.

The man's expression became suspicious.

“That's impossible.”

One of the men behind him whispered.

“Captain, should we report this?”

The captain raised his hand.

“Not yet.”

He stared at Ash.

“I want to know how this happened.”

Ethan felt a strange sense of danger.

He didn't know who these people were.

But they clearly knew how unusual Ash was.

And he wasn't going to reveal the existence of his system.

“I got lucky.”

The captain laughed.

“Lucky?”

His eyes became cold.

“Do you think I'm an idiot?”

Ash immediately stepped forward.

Its claws scraped against the floor.

The captain's grip tightened around his spear.

“Control your beast.”

Ethan's eyes narrowed.

“Ash hasn't attacked anyone.”

“Not yet.”

The atmosphere became tense.

Then the captain suddenly moved.

WHOOSH!

His spear shot toward Ethan.

Ash reacted instantly.

CLANG!

Its claws collided with the spear.

The impact sent sparks flying.

The captain's eyes widened.

“So fast!”

Ash pushed forward.

The man was forced backward several steps.

Ethan stared.

Ash was actually strong enough to fight an armed Beast Master directly.

The captain's expression darkened.

“E-Rank beast…”

He raised his spear again.

“Let's see how strong you really are.”

He charged.

Ash growled.

Ethan shouted—

“Ash! Dodge!”

The wolf leaped sideways.

The spear struck the ground.

CRACK!

The floor broke beneath the impact.

Ash landed behind the man.

Its claws flashed.

SLASH!

The captain barely raised his spear in time.

The impact sent him flying.

He crashed against the wall.

Silence filled the shelter.

The other men stared in shock.

The captain slowly stood.

Blood trickled from the corner of his mouth.

He looked at Ash.

Then at Ethan.

“You're hiding something.”

Ethan's heart tightened.

Before he could answer, another notification appeared.

[Ding!]

[Combat detected.]

[New Quest activated.]

[Quest: Defeat an opponent stronger than your contracted beast.]

[Reward: 200 Evolution Energy.]

Ethan's eyes widened.

Two hundred Evolution Energy.

He looked at the captain.

Then at Ash.

A dangerous smile appeared on his face.

“Ash.”

The wolf lowered its body.

Its golden eyes locked onto the captain.

“Let's finish this.”

The captain tightened his grip on his spear.

“Come.”

Ash disappeared.

BOOM!

The battle began.
