Ethan sat in the back of a taxi heading toward his newly acquired warehouse, the city lights blurring past the window. His mind was still buzzing from the City Development Board meeting. $300,000 committed. 35% stake in a major logistics project. And the Sterlings already breathing down his neck.

He wasn’t scared. He was excited.

The system panel floated in front of him as he checked his stats.

【Almighty System】

Host: Ethan Kane

Level: 14 (2,150/3,000 EXP)

Strength: 20 Agility: 18 Vitality: 15 Intelligence: 15 Charm: 11

Skills: Basic Combat Mastery, Wealth Sense, Dominance Aura, Business Insight, Business Intimidation

Balance: $240,000+

He had come a long way in just a few days. From bleeding in an alley to sitting on real money and real influence. But he knew this was only the beginning. The Sterlings and Reeds weren’t going to let him rise without a fight.

His phone vibrated. It was Alex, the founder of the delivery app startup he had invested in.

“Mr. Kane! The first round of funding just cleared. The team is thrilled. We can finally hire the developers we need. Thank you so much!”

Ethan smiled. “Good. Keep me updated on the progress. I want that app ready for beta testing in two weeks.”

He hung up and leaned back in the seat. Small wins were adding up.

But as the taxi neared the warehouse district, his Wealth Sense suddenly flared with warning. Something was off.

He got out of the taxi and walked toward the warehouse. The large building looked quiet under the streetlights, but he could feel eyes on him.

A group of five rough-looking men stepped out from the shadows near the entrance. One of them, a tall guy with a scar on his cheek, smirked.

“You the new owner? Kane, right? Nice warehouse you got here. Too bad it’s in our territory now.”

Ethan stopped a few meters away, his voice calm. “Your territory? Last time I checked, I bought this property legally.”

The scarred man laughed. “Legal don’t mean shit on these streets. The Sterling family sends their regards. They said to tell you to back off the logistics project… or we’ll make sure this place burns down tonight.”

Ethan’s eyes narrowed. So Victor Sterling was already making moves.

He took a slow step forward. The Dominance Aura activated, making the men shift uncomfortably.

“I suggest you walk away,” Ethan said quietly. “Tell Victor that if he wants to play dirty, I can play dirtier.”

The scarred man pulled out a knife. “Big talk for a newbie. Let’s see how tough you really are.”

Before the man could move, Ethan stepped in fast. His Basic Combat Mastery made his movements smooth and precise. He dodged the knife swing and delivered a powerful SLAP! that sent the man flying backward into his companions.

The sound echoed in the empty street.

The other four men hesitated, clearly shaken by how easily their leader went down.

Ethan looked at them coldly. “Go back to Victor. Tell him the next time he sends dogs after me, I won’t be so gentle.”

The men helped their leader up and quickly retreated into the darkness, throwing fearful glances over their shoulders.

Ethan stood alone in front of the warehouse, breathing steadily. The system gave him another notification.

[Side Mission: Defend Your Property — Completed.]

[Reward: +400 EXP + Warehouse Security Upgrade Unlocked.]

He smiled. The Sterlings were testing him.

He wasn’t going to fail the test.

The next day, Ethan woke up early and went straight to work. He hired a small team of workers to start cleaning and renovating the warehouse. With his Business Insight, he could see exactly what needed to be done to turn it into a proper distribution center.

By afternoon, he received a call from Mr. Lang at the City Development Board.

“Mr. Kane, the paperwork is moving fast. We’re impressed with your speed. The project is officially yours to develop alongside us. But I must warn you — the Sterling family has been making noise. Be careful.”

Ethan replied calmly, “I appreciate the warning. I’ll handle it.”

He hung up and opened the system shop. He spent some of his money on a Temporary Security Boost for the warehouse — basic cameras and guards for now, but it was a start.

As evening approached, his phone rang again. This time it was Sophia.

“Ethan… please. My father is furious. The whole family is talking about taking legal action against you. Just stop this before it gets worse. We can still talk. I can help smooth things over.”

Ethan listened to her voice — the same voice that had once made his heart race. Now it only sounded weak and desperate.

“Sophia,” he said quietly, “you had four years to ‘smooth things over.’ You chose Marcus instead. Now I’m choosing myself.”

He hung up.

The system gave him a small reward for resisting the emotional manipulation.

[You resisted manipulation from ex-lover. +50 EXP gained.]

Ethan stood at the window of his hotel room, looking out at the city lights.

The Sterlings were coming for him.

The Reeds were watching.

Powerful forces were paying attention.

He clenched his fist, golden energy flickering around it for a moment.

Let them all come.

He was ready.

The betrayed loser was dead.

The rising overlord was awake.

And the city was about to change forever.

  • CHAPTER TWENTY ONE -The First True Test

Ethan drove away from the Old Observatory with Mira in the passenger seat, the silence between them heavy but comfortable. The revelations from the Shadow Council still echoed in his mind — the names, the alliances, the depth of the betrayal that had destroyed his family. Damien Cross wasn’t just a bureaucrat. He was the architect who had pulled the strings fifteen years ago. Mira broke the silence first. “You handled that well. Most heirs would have demanded immediate revenge. You listened. That’s rare.” Ethan kept his eyes on the road. “Revenge without information is suicide. Cross is the key. If he’s the one who orchestrated the purge, taking him down could collapse the entire alliance.” Mira nodded. “He’s careful. He’s survived this long by playing both sides. The Sterlings think they control him, but he controls them. We need to be smarter than he is.” They reached the warehouse just as the sun was rising. Lena was already there, pacing near the entrance with a tablet in

  • CHAPTER TWENTY- The Shadow Alliance

Ethan left the rooftop as the sun climbed higher, the city below him awakening to another day. The weight of the latest memory fragment still pressed on him, but it no longer felt like a burden. It felt like fuel. He descended the stairs into the command room, where his small team was already working. Lena, his project manager, looked up from her laptop with a concerned expression. “We have a situation,” she said without preamble. “Three of our suppliers just pulled out of the logistics project. They cited ‘sudden regulatory issues.’ It’s clearly coordinated. The Sterlings are hitting us through the supply chain.” Ethan nodded, his mind already turning. “How bad is it?” “We can survive for two weeks, maybe three, but if we don’t find replacements soon, the first phase will be delayed by months. The board is watching. If we miss the deadline, they might reconsider our stake.” Ethan walked to the large table where the project maps were spread out. He traced his finger along th

  • CHAPTER NINETEEN- The First Major Strike

Ethan sat in the quiet command room of his warehouse late at night, the only light coming from multiple screens and the glowing blue system panel in front of him. The city outside was asleep, but his mind was wide awake, racing through everything that had happened in the past few weeks. From the rainy alley where he had been left for dead to this moment — Level 28, hundreds of thousands in his accounts, a growing empire, and the first pieces of his true identity coming back to him. It still felt surreal. He leaned back in his chair and let the latest Hidden Identity fragment settle deeper. [Hidden Identity Fragment Level 4 Unlocked.] Memory Fragment: The Kane Family was not just wealthy. • CHAPTER EIGHTEEN- The Counterattack Begins

Ethan woke up the next morning with a clear mind and a burning resolve that felt different from anything he had experienced before. The events of the previous night — slapping Victor Sterling’s top enforcer in front of his men — had sent ripples through the city. His phone was already blowing up with messages from Mr. Lang and a few cautious business contacts who had heard about the confrontation. Some were congratulating him. Others were warning him that he had poked the bear too hard. He stood by the window of his hotel room, looking out at the city that had once crushed him under its heel. The Kane Legacy fragments were becoming clearer every day, settling into his mind like pieces of a puzzle he had been missing his whole life. He wasn’t just fighting for revenge anymore. He was fighting to reclaim a name that had been deliberately erased from history. The system panel appeared in front of him, glowing softly in the morning light. 【Almighty System】 Host: Ethan Kane Level: 26

  • CHAPTER SIXTEEN - The Gala Confrontation

Ethan adjusted his tailored black suit in the mirror of the luxury hotel suite he had booked for the night. The fabric felt foreign against his skin — expensive, perfectly fitted, a far cry from the cheap clothes he used to wear. Tonight was the annual City Elite Gala, one of the biggest networking events in the city. Every major family, businessman, and influencer would be there. Including the Sterlings and the Reeds. He had received the invitation two days ago — a clear sign that his rapid rise was being noticed. Mr. Lang from the City Development Board had personally encouraged him to attend. Ethan took a deep breath. The Dominance Aura was active, but he kept it controlled. He wasn’t going there to hide. He was going there to send a message. The gala was held in the grand ballroom of the city’s most prestigious hotel. Crystal chandeliers hung from the ceiling, live music played softly, and the room was filled with the elite in designer gowns and expensive suits. As Ethan walke
